The delicious taste of victory, the painful agony of defeat, and most importantly the bragging rights. Your office fantasy football league is serious business.
People often tell me that LoadUp seems like a really fun place to work. It definitely is, especially with such a fun group of coworkers. We regularly have employee appreciation events and outings, which has contributed to the skyrocketing success of the company.
We all genuinely enjoy each other’s company, so any sort of employee engagement event only strengthens our bond as a team. Recently, our CEO, Greg Workmon, provided us all with the opportunity to join in on an office fantasy football league.
The winner will receive a cash prize, but we’ve been having a lot of fun playing regardless. We have players who are diehard football fans while others of us feel like we have no idea what we’re doing, myself included.
2018 Fantasy Football at LoadUp
Personally, I’m really not much for football, but I’ve really enjoyed playing in the office fantasy league so far. There’s plenty of trash talk around the office, but just as much kindhearted coaching and helpful trade offers from the more seasoned players directed toward us newbs.
If you’re participating in your own office fantasy league and feeling like your defeat is imminent, remember that fantasy football championships aren’t won in the draft, they’re won throughout the season. So keep your head up and hang in there. Don’t turn your back on setting a lineup or give up on the season so early in.
To help you out, some members of Team LoadUp are going to share some of our tips for fantasy football strategy with you.
Here are some of our strategies for coming out on top in the office fantasy football championship:

Ellie declined to comment. That’s okay though, ’cause she’s totes adorbs.
Team Strow | Jonathan Strow | 0-3-0 | .000
“I try to keep up with who I have and make sure I don’t have any injured players on the roster. If there are any players that have a potential for being in the top 5, I keep those in my lineup. I’ve lost though ’cause I’ve played the best folks here the last 3 games. I’m keepin’ my fingers crossed, though!”
Team Puntasecca | Caylin Puntasecca | 0-3-0 | .000
“My strategy? Ummmmmm kinda just lettin’ it. . . go? Let it run its course. Yeahhh. That’s my strategy. I have no idea what I’m doing.”
Taco Corp | Haley Skipper | 1-2-0 | .333
“My husband is my strategy. I made him a co-captain on my team so he could see everything and give me advice. I figured that would be the best strategy, and I told him he was going to end up taking over the whole thing. He said, “No! I’m not going to take over your team! I promise I won’t take over.” And. . . He totally took over. So, my fantasy football strategy is ‘let my husband do it.’ laughter“
The Workmonsters | Greg Workmon | 3-0-0 | 1.000
“The secret is. . . it’s all about mindset. You’ve got to draft with the last 6 weeks in mind. And always keep a look out on the free agent wire. That’s how you win.”
Team Jason | Jason Brown | 3-0-0 | 1.000
“I go with my instinct. I use past knowledge of players who have done well and the players who fall short. I review the individual player lineups and base it on how I think they will perform that week, not on their projected points.
I put my highest projected point players in to start before the game, hoping that my opponent will follow suit and do the same with theirs so they miss any potential big scoring sleepers. Then I update my starters to who I really want to play.
This season is my 4th year playing.”
For the Football Fanatics
We hope that hearing some of our strategies for this year’s office fantasy football season will help give you a competitive edge in your own office league. . . or at least a few chuckles.
Whatever your strategy, just don’t forget the most important rule of fantasy football: Have fun!
If you find yourself at any point during this football season suddenly needing to quickly get rid of your tons of fan gear (Hey, it could happen.) or any other junk in your home, remember to give LoadUp a call, and we’ll come pick it up and dispose of it in an eco-friendly way. We can give you a hug, too, if you need one. Football season can be tough.
