Paint Disposal in Santa Fe, New Mexico

It is not mandatory to dry paint prior to your scheduled appointment, but it is recommended. This makes it easier on our Loaders as a courtesy. It’s also better for the planet as paint can be toxic to our environment and may be required by local Santa Fe regulations. To dry out old paint for disposal, remove the lid and let the paint air dry in a well-ventilated area away from children and pets. You can also add a paint hardener or an absorbent material like kitty litter, sawdust, or shredded paper to speed up the drying process.

Before throwing old paint away, look to see if Santa Fe County has recycling programs for hazardous items. You can also call local schools and see if they’re in need of paint donations. However, if you can’t find any nearby, LoadUp can send professionals to pick up oil-based paint, paint thinners and much more for recycling, donation, and other responsible paint disposal methods.

We do offer curbside pickup in Santa Fe, NM! When booking an appointment, you can select curbside pickup for a $5 discount. You won’t need to be present for your pickup and you can simply place your paint cans anywhere outside that is directly accessible by our trucks. Typical locations include your front yard, outside a garage, in your driveway, or directly by the curb. If your items are heavy, please request assistance with moving to avoid injury. If you physically can’t move the items yourself, or don’t have someone to help you, we recommend scheduling an in-home pickup instead.
