The Problem

Clearing junk in Wind Point takes more than it should

You search for options, call the village office, then a couple of haulers. One sends a vague quote, another never calls back. Weeks go by, and the junk is still sitting in the garage.

Free city pickup is great, when it works

Municipal pickup schedules work fine for a bag or two. Bulky items often have to be requested ahead of time, set out on a set day, and fit within limits on size and type. If you need something gone soon, or from inside the house, it may not be a fit.

Traditional haulers play pricing games

Many haulers want to come out and see the job before giving you a number, then price by how much of the truck you fill. That leaves you guessing about the final cost until the truck is already in your driveway.

Donation centers are picky (rightly)

Donation centers need items they can actually resell, so a worn chair or a scuffed table often gets turned away. They also won't come haul things out of your basement. Whatever they pass on is still yours to deal with.

Dumpster rental is overkill for one room

A rented dumpster can sit on your driveway for days, may need a permit, and has to be scheduled for both drop-off and pickup. On a quiet residential street, that's a lot of steel and attention for one room of clutter.

What sets us apart

Your price is locked before pickup day

Most companies charge by truck space, and the price often changes on arrival. LoadUp charges by item, based on exactly what you're removing.

  • Per-item, predictable. First item includes the pickup fee. Every add-on is flat, no truck math, no hourly rates.
  • Locked means locked. The price at booking is what you pay. No adjustments, no surprises.
  • No-obligation quotes. Big job or full cleanout? Text a photo for a guaranteed price first.

Neighborhoods Served

Serving Wind Point, from the Lake Michigan shore to greater Racine

Anyone who lives here knows the wind off the water has opinions, especially about a tarp-covered pile of storm branches or a stack of old lumber. Your Loader lifts, carries, and loads it so nothing lingers in the yard. We like showing up for neighbors in this quiet village, and we take care with your property.

What Happens to Your Junk

Donation first, recycling second, landfill last

Bulky items are hard to move alone, and where they end up matters as much as getting them out of the house. In Wind Point, your Loader sorts each item by condition, favoring reuse when local options allow.

Local Disposal Rules

The Wind Point disposal rules most residents don't know

In Wind Point, a branch pile set out too early can be tagged and billed as a special collection. These village and Racine County rules help you avoid similar surprises.

Rule 01

Electronics need a bulk swap, not a regular curb pickup

Electronics are not allowed in Wind Point carts and are no longer taken with an ordinary bulk pickup. Residents can trade two of their twelve yearly bulk collections to have one qualified household electronic item collected. Wisconsin law also keeps many electronics out of landfills.

Rule 02

Village branch pickup covers tree trimming, not tree removal

Wind Point Public Works collects branches only on the second Tuesday of April, June, August, and October, with no winter dates. Stumps, root balls, roots, vines, and rocks are not collected, and the program is meant for trimmings rather than felled trees.

Rule 03

Cardboard boxes are banned from the brown garbage cart

The village resident guide bars cardboard boxes from the brown garbage cart. They belong in the green recycling cart, which is emptied every other Monday. Recycling that will not fit in the cart can go out with a scheduled bulk collection.

Rule 04

Tire disposal is capped at two per bulk pickup

The local bulk program accepts tires, but only up to two per monthly pickup and a maximum of eight per year. Clearing a garage stacked with old winter and summer sets can take several months of scheduled bulk collections.

Rule 05

Hazardous waste drop-off requires proof of Wind Point property ownership

Household hazardous waste is barred from both curbside carts. Residents can instead use the Racine Hazardous Household Waste site, which seven Racine County communities fund together. You need a driver's license or property tax statement to prove you own property in one of those communities.

Rule 06

Remodeling debris stays out of both curbside carts

Village collection rules keep construction materials and demolition debris out of the brown garbage cart and the green recycling cart alike. Branch collection also will not take construction material, rubbish, or metal left in branch piles.

Not unless it is part of your regular scheduled collection. Bulky junk set out without an arrangement can be treated as illegal dumping. Check with the Village of Wind Point or your hauler for bulk item rules and any fees before setting anything out.

LoadUp pricing for junk removal in Wind Point starts at $90, and pickup from the curb or driveway takes a flat $5 off. The first item includes the base pickup fee, each additional item is a flat add-on charge, and the exact total is confirmed before booking. Truckload haulers usually price by volume.

Same-day pickup is sometimes available, depending on Loader schedules in the Racine area. Enter your address at booking to see live availability for your zip code. If same-day is full, next-day or later slots can be chosen online.

Not for curbside or driveway pickups. You can leave items out with access notes. For items inside a lakefront home, garage, or basement, someone should be there, or you can give access instructions at booking. Your Loader will let you know before arriving.

Hazardous items like paint, solvents, chemicals, and batteries usually can't go in household trash or standard bulk pickup. Racine County has household hazardous waste options, so confirm accepted items and dates with the county first. Ask about restricted items when booking.

Loaders aim to donate usable items to local charities and recycle materials like metal or cardboard whenever possible. Acceptance varies by organization, so nothing is guaranteed. Items that can't be donated or recycled go to the appropriate disposal facility.

Pick your items and address online, choose an available time window, and review the total before confirming. On pickup day, a Loader typically calls ahead, hauls the items from where you point, and takes them away. You don't need to do any lifting.

The main difference is the pricing model. Traditional haulers like 1-800-GOT-JUNK and Junk King generally price by truck volume, often confirmed on site. LoadUp prices per item online and confirms the total before booking. For large cleanouts, a truckload rate can sometimes fit better.
