The Problem

Clearing out a Mount Pleasant garage shouldn't take weeks

You check the village website, call a couple of haulers, and wait on callbacks that never come. One quote needs a site visit, another is vague. Meanwhile the junk sits in the garage through another weekend, then another.

Free city pickup is great, when it works

Municipal pickup schedules can work well for a single bulky item if you plan ahead. Most programs need a request in advance, have limits on what they take, and expect you to drag everything to the street yourself. That's tough with a heavy appliance or a basement full of renovation scraps.

Traditional haulers play pricing games

Many haulers won't commit to a number until someone walks your property, and then the price depends on how full the truck looks. You end up blocking off time for an estimate, guessing at truckload fractions, and hoping the final bill matches what you heard at the door.

Donation centers are picky (rightly)

Donation centers have to be selective, so stained mattresses, worn furniture, and older electronics often get turned away. Even the usable pieces need loading, hauling, and dropping off during their hours. You can't donate yard debris or broken drywall, so part of the pile stays behind no matter what.

Dumpster rental is overkill for one room

A roll-off container makes sense for a full tear-out, not a spare bedroom or a shed cleanup. You plan around delivery and pickup windows, may need permission to put it on the street, and leave a bulky bin in the driveway for days. And you still do all the lifting yourself.

What sets us apart

Your price is locked before pickup day

Most companies charge by truck space, and the price often changes on arrival. LoadUp charges by item, based on exactly what you're removing.

  • Per-item, predictable. First item includes the pickup fee. Every add-on is flat, no truck math, no hourly rates.
  • Locked means locked. The price at booking is what you pay. No adjustments, no surprises.
  • No-obligation quotes. Big job or full cleanout? Text a photo for a guaranteed price first.

Neighborhoods Served

Serving Mount Pleasant, on both sides of I-94

Mount Pleasant is part subdivision, part farmland, part commercial, so no two cleanouts look alike. Maybe it's a basement full of old appliances in February, or branches from a storm piled behind the barn. Your Loader does the lifting, wherever it sits, and LoadUp and your Loaders like showing up for this village.

What Happens to Your Junk

Donation first, recycling second, landfill last

Not every bulky item belongs in a landfill, and not every one can be reused. In Mount Pleasant, your Loader sorts items by condition, so usable pieces, recyclable materials, and true waste each go the right way when local options allow.

The Mount Pleasant disposal rules most residents don't know

Curbside items placed outside the Village's restrictions may simply be left behind, so here is what Mount Pleasant and Racine County actually require before you set anything out.

Rule 01

Freon appliances like refrigerators never count toward the free pickup

Freon appliances are excluded from the Village's free annual bulk pickup and are charged per item through GFL Environmental. Racine Wastewater Utility hazardous waste events turn away appliances of any kind, and Wisconsin bans major appliances from landfills.

Rule 02

One free bulk pickup per household each year

Through the Village's contract with GFL Environmental, each household gets one free annual bulk pickup of up to seven cubic yards. Each additional bulk pickup costs $50 per bulk item, so consolidating a cleanout into one scheduled pickup matters.

Rule 03

Storm-downed branches must wait for the compost site season

Mount Pleasant never collects yard waste curbside, and branches cannot go in the street or right-of-way. The resident-only Compost Site takes brush up to 7 feet long and 4 inches in diameter, but closes in mid-November and reopens April 1.

Rule 04

Remodeling debris must be containerized and under 50 pounds per bin

For bulk pickup, building materials and construction debris must be broken down and containerized, never loose on the ground. Each bin can weigh no more than 50 pounds, and containers cannot have material over four feet long sticking out. Noncompliant items may be left uncollected.

Rule 05

Used antifreeze and motor oil have a free year-round drop-off

The Department of Public Works offers a free, resident-only antifreeze and waste oil site open 24 hours a day. Old gas and other chemicals are refused there; household chemicals go to Racine Wastewater Utility events, held third Saturdays from April through October.

Rule 06

Televisions fall outside both the free pickup and the landfill

Mount Pleasant's free annual bulk pickup excludes televisions, and the Racine Wastewater Utility's hazardous waste events refuse electronics. Wisconsin's electronics recycling law bans TVs, computer monitors, and other covered electronics from landfills, so they must go to a recycler.

Not unless it is part of a collection the village allows. Items left out without a scheduled pickup can be treated as illegal dumping and may bring a citation. Rules on bulk items change, so confirm current limits with Mount Pleasant public works before setting anything out.

LoadUp pricing for junk removal in Mount Pleasant starts at $90 for a single item, and curbside or driveway pickup takes a flat $5 off. The first item includes the base pickup fee, each additional item is a flat add-on charge, and the exact total is confirmed before booking.

Sometimes, depending on Loader availability for your address. Enter your Mount Pleasant zip code during booking to see the live time slots, which may include same-day or next-day. For curbside jobs you don't need to be home, and for in-home pickups you can give access instructions.

Hazardous items like paint, chemicals, and batteries generally can't go in household trash or bulk piles in Wisconsin. Many electronics and appliances also have disposal limits. Check with the village or Racine County for current drop-off options. Loaders can take many bulky items, but hazardous materials are typically excluded.

Loaders aim to keep usable items out of the landfill by donating them to local charities when options allow. Recyclable materials go to recycling facilities where accepted. Donation and recycling depend on item condition and facility acceptance. Whatever can't be reused or recycled is taken to an appropriate disposal facility.

You pick your items and zip code online, choose a time window, and see your total before you confirm. On pickup day your Loader arrives in that window, removes the items, and handles the loading. The price you were quoted at booking is the price you pay for the items booked.

The main difference is the pricing model. Traditional haulers usually price by how much space your load fills in the truck, often confirmed at the home. LoadUp prices per item online, with the total shown before booking. For a large cleanout, a truckload hauler can be the better fit.

For small amounts of acceptable household items, the village's regular collection or a county drop-off is usually cheaper, since you only pay for your own time and gas. A paid service makes more sense for heavy or bulky items, tight schedules, or when you have no truck.
