The Problem

Green Bay has junk options, just not good ones

You search the city's website, call a couple of haulers, and wait on quotes that sometimes never come. One company wants to stop by first, another stops answering. Weeks go by, and the junk is still sitting there.

Free city pickup is great, when it works

The city's free bulk collection usually runs during set weeks in spring and fall, with a size cap on each household's pile. Electronics, appliances, remodeling debris, and move-out loads are excluded. If your cleanout falls between those weeks, you're stuck waiting or hauling it yourself.

Traditional haulers play pricing games

Many haulers want to see the job in person before they'll give you a number, and then they price by how much of the truck you fill. What the truck is really holding is a guess until it's loaded, so the final bill can feel like a surprise.

Donation centers are picky (rightly)

Thrift stores and resale shops have to turn away stained upholstery, broken frames, and anything they can't resell, and that makes sense. It still leaves you with a carload of rejects, plus the rest of the pile they were never going to take anyway.

Dumpster rental is overkill for one room

A roll-off means choosing a size, booking drop-off and pickup dates, and maybe dealing with placement rules if it can't sit on your property. Then it takes up your driveway for days, neighbors toss in their own stuff, and you still do all the lifting.

What sets us apart

Your price is locked before pickup day

Most companies charge by truck space, and the price often changes on arrival. LoadUp charges by item, based on exactly what you're removing.

  • Per-item, predictable. First item includes the pickup fee. Every add-on is flat, no truck math, no hourly rates.
  • Locked means locked. The price at booking is what you pay. No adjustments, no surprises.
  • No-obligation quotes. Big job or full cleanout? Text a photo for a guaranteed price first.

Wrestling a sleeper sofa up basement stairs is bad enough, but do it with a snowbank at the end of the driveway and a January windchill nobody signed up for? No thanks. Your Loaders handle the lifting, carrying, and loading, and they genuinely like showing up for Green Bay neighbors.

What Happens to Your Junk

Donation first, recycling second, landfill last

Bulky items rarely belong in one place once they leave your home, which is why disposal routing matters in Green Bay. Your Loader sorts each item by condition, favoring donation or recycling when local options allow.

Local Disposal Rules

The Green Bay disposal rules most residents don't know

If you put yard waste in the street or leave piles at the curb on the wrong dates, you can get an invoice or a citation. Here's how disposal works in Green Bay and Brown County.

Rule 01

Leaves belong on the terrace, not in the street

Green Bay Public Works now invoices residents who place yard waste in the street. Piles on the terrace are collected at no charge during the spring and fall curbside windows. Curb piles outside those dates can get a citation, and after Thanksgiving the city drop-off sites are open weekends only.

Rule 02

Propane tanks and fluorescent lights go to the county facility

Green Bay will not pick up propane tanks, fluorescent lights and ballast, batteries, pool chemicals, paint or solvents. Take them to the Brown County Household Hazardous Waste Facility instead. It sets its own hours and fees, so check both before you load the car.

Rule 03

Couches and mattresses get curbside pickup only two weeks a year

Green Bay's free bulk item collection runs one week each spring and one week each fall, with a limit of two cubic yards next to the trash cart. Appliances, electronics and remodeling waste are not accepted. Move-out debris is turned away both at the curb and at the city's resident-only drop-off sites.

Rule 04

Motor oil goes to a City Garage, not the cart

The City of Green Bay lists oil among the hazardous materials it will not pick up at the curb. You can take waste oil such as motor oil to either City Garage location. That keeps it out of trash carts and storm drains.

Rule 05

Computers and electronics are left out of carts and bulk weeks

The City of Green Bay does not collect computers and electronics, even during bulk item weeks. Wisconsin bans many electronics from landfills. The Brown County Household Hazardous Waste Facility takes residential electronics only on certain days each week, so plan ahead.

Rule 06

Remodeling debris needs a tarp and a safety vest

Green Bay's curbside and drop-off programs don't accept construction, remodeling or demolition waste, so it goes to the Brown County Transfer Station for a fee. Every load must be covered with a tarp. Anyone unloading inside must wear high-visibility clothing, and the station takes only credit cards.

Only during the city's annual bulk collection week. Residents can set out up to 2 cubic yards (6 x 3 x 3 feet) next to the cart by 6 a.m. on collection day. Anything over that is picked up and billed, and curbside piles outside the designated week are charged.

LoadUp pricing for junk removal in Green Bay starts at $90, with $5 off for curbside or outdoor pickup. The first item includes the base pickup fee and each additional item is a flat add-on, with the exact total confirmed before booking. Truckload haulers often run about $75 to $375.

Sometimes. Availability depends on the schedule and your address, so enter your zip code during booking to see open times. For curbside pickups you generally don't need to be home. For indoor pickups, someone should be there or you can leave access instructions.

Outside the free collection week, the city's bulk waste collection fee is $105 for up to 3 cubic yards, $210 for over 3 up to 10 cubic yards, and $315 above that. Residents can also use the East or West Side Municipal Garages with proof of residency, or the Brown County Transfer Station for a fee.

Loaders aim to donate usable items and recycle what they can, depending on acceptance. Local options include the Greater Green Bay Habitat for Humanity ReStore, which also offers free pickup of larger donations around Brown County. Whatever can't be reused or recycled goes to proper disposal.

You book online, pick the items you want removed, and see your total before confirming. Then you choose a time window. On pickup day, Loaders arrive, carry the items out, and haul them away, so you don't need to move anything to the curb unless you choose the curbside discount.

The free week works well if you have a small pile under 2 cubic yards and can wait for the scheduled dates. A hauler fits better when you need pickup on your own timeline, have items inside the home, or want someone else to do the lifting.

The main differences are the pricing model and booking flow. Many traditional haulers price by truckload and may confirm the price on site. LoadUp prices per item online and confirms the total before booking. For a truckload-size cleanout, a truckload hauler may be the better fit.
