Village brush collection is limited to trimming done by residents themselves. When a contractor removes trees or brush, the contractor must cut, chip, haul and dispose of everything. Resident piles may include stumps and root balls, but piles over 30 cubic yards are refused.
Village garbage carts cannot hold household hazardous waste or liquid paint, and fluorescent light bulbs are excluded from large item pickup. The Brown County hazardous materials site behind the Broadway recycling facility takes those bulbs during limited weekday hours.
Anything containing Freon is barred from curbside large item pickup, including refrigerators, freezers, dehumidifiers and portable air conditioning units. Stoves, washers, dryers, dishwashers and toilets are accepted, so only the appliances that hold refrigerant need a separate recycling route.
