The Problem

Getting junk off your property here is harder than it looks

You search online, call the county about a pickup option, and leave messages for a few haulers. One quotes a vague range, another never calls back. Weeks later, the pile behind the shop hasn't moved.

Free city pickup is great, when it works

Unincorporated places like Skookumchuck usually don't have a city bulk pickup program of their own. Where municipal pickup schedules exist, they often limit item types, take advance requests, and assume a street-side setout, which doesn't help when your junk sits far down a gravel drive.

Traditional haulers play pricing games

Many haulers want to drive out for an in-person estimate before naming a number, then price by fractions of a truckload you can't measure yourself. You may not know the real total until the truck is loaded, and a long drive out can leave you waiting for a callback that never comes.

Donation centers are picky (rightly)

Donation centers have to be selective, so torn upholstery, stained cushions, or worn-out items often get turned away. Even when something qualifies, you still have to load it, drive it into town during open hours, and figure out what to do with whatever gets rejected.

Dumpster rental is overkill for one room

A roll-off container makes sense for a full teardown, but it's a lot for a single shed or spare room. You plan around delivery and pickup windows, find level ground the truck can reach without rutting your yard, and still do all the heavy lifting yourself.

What sets us apart

Your price is locked before pickup day

Most companies charge by truck space, and the price often changes on arrival. LoadUp charges by item, based on exactly what you're removing.

  • Per-item, predictable. First item includes the pickup fee. Every add-on is flat, no truck math, no hourly rates.
  • Locked means locked. The price at booking is what you pay. No adjustments, no surprises.
  • No-obligation quotes. Big job or full cleanout? Text a photo for a guaranteed price first.

Neighborhoods Served

Serving Skookumchuck, from the back roads to the river bottoms

Out here, a dump run means loading the truck yourself, bouncing down a gravel road, and burning half a day before you reach a disposal site. Nobody needs that with a barn full of leftovers waiting. Your Loader does the lifting, carrying and hauling, and likes showing up for neighbors who already do plenty themselves.

What Happens to Your Junk

Donation first, recycling second, landfill last

Hauling bulky items off a long gravel driveway is only half the job in Skookumchuck. Where each item ends up matters too, so your Loader sorts by condition when possible: donation, recycling, or disposal.

Gently Used

Donation Pickup

Furniture, tools, and household goods in clean, usable shape may be set aside for donation when local options allow. Your Loader carries them out separately from the rest, though no outcome is guaranteed.

  • Tax-deductible receipt by request
  • Diverts waste from landfill
  • Free up your space and help a neighbor

Visible Wear

Recycling

Items that are worn or damaged but still hold useful materials, like scrap metal or old electronics, may be taken for recycling where available. Your Loader handles the loading and hauling.

  • Materials sorted and recovered
  • Diverted from landfill where possible
  • Compliant with local waste regs

Heavily Damaged

Responsible Disposal

Heavily damaged, soaked, or contaminated bulky items go to disposal. Your Loader loads them out of the barn, shed, or yard, and the receiving site depends on what local facilities currently accept.

  • No logistics or transport to handle
  • No sorting or drop-off required on your end
  • Local disposal fees covered

Local Disposal Rules

The Skookumchuck disposal rules most residents don't know

Bring the wrong load to the wrong site and you may be redirected across the county or charged garbage rates for recyclables. Because Skookumchuck is unincorporated, Thurston County rules apply.

Rule 01

Keep tires separate at the WARC so they get recycled

Tires received at the Waste and Recovery Center are recycled when kept separate from other materials. At the Rainier and Rochester drop-boxes, they are disposed of as garbage. Both locations limit drop-off to five tires per vehicle per day.

Rule 02

Storm branches are only composted at the Waste and Recovery Center

Western Washington windstorms leave plenty of limbs behind. Yard waste brought to the Rainier or Rochester Drop-box Facilities is treated as garbage and charged garbage rates. Only the Waste and Recovery Center composts it, and it won't take noxious weeds or problem plants.

Rule 03

Moving boxes face a daily cap at the drop-boxes

Corrugated cardboard is recycled free at all county facilities, but it must be flattened. At the Rainier and Rochester Drop-box Facilities, cardboard recycling is limited to two cubic yards after flattening per customer per day. Anything beyond that is charged as garbage.

Rule 04

Refrigerators and freezers cannot go to the rural drop-boxes

Refrigerated appliances such as refrigerators, freezers, air conditioning units, water coolers and dehumidifiers are accepted only at the Waste and Recovery Center. Each one carries an added special handling fee. Non-refrigerated appliances are accepted at the drop-boxes.

Rule 05

TVs and monitors are turned away at drop-box facilities

The Rainier and Rochester Drop-box Facilities do not accept TVs and monitors. The state's E-Cycle Washington program takes them free at participating collection sites. Other electronics are accepted at the Waste and Recovery Center and both drop-boxes.

Rule 06

Remodel debris is charged as garbage and never recycled

Thurston County facilities cannot recycle construction and demolition debris, so lumber, sheetrock, fencing and decking are processed as garbage. At the drop-boxes, pieces must be 8 feet or shorter and loads cannot exceed 8 cubic yards. Asbestos needs special handling.

No. Skookumchuck is unincorporated, so there is no city bulk pickup, and junk left roadside without a hauler counts as illegal dumping in Washington. Most rural households use a private curbside provider or haul items to the Thurston County Waste and Recovery Center.

LoadUp pricing for junk removal in Skookumchuck starts at $95, and curbside or driveway pickup takes a flat $5 off. The first item includes the base pickup fee, each additional item is a flat add-on, and the exact total is confirmed before booking.

Often, yes. Same-day or next-day pickup is typically offered when you book before noon, depending on crew availability for your address. Enter your address when booking to see live openings. Curbside pickups don't require you to be home.

Household hazardous waste like paint, solvents, pesticides, and chemicals can't go in regular trash or junk loads. Thurston County's HazoHouse at the Waste and Recovery Center accepts them from residents. Call 360-867-2491 to confirm accepted items and hours.

Sometimes. Thurston County's Waste and Recovery Center charges per ton, listed around $110, with a minimum fee for small loads. If you own a truck and have time, self-hauling can cost less. Rural distances, fuel, and lifting are the tradeoffs.

Loaders aim to donate usable items and recycle what they can, depending on acceptance by local charities and recyclers. Items that can't be reused or recycled go to a proper disposal facility, and Loaders try to avoid landfill whenever options allow.

Pick your items online, enter your address, and choose a time slot. You see the total price before confirming. Your Loader typically calls or texts before arriving, then carries the items out, loads them, and hauls them away. You don't need to move anything yourself.

Pricing model and booking flow. Traditional haulers usually price by truckload and may confirm the final cost on site. LoadUp prices per item online, with the total confirmed before booking. For a few items that is often simpler, while full cleanouts may suit a truckload quote.
