The Problem

Getting rid of junk in Wilmington takes longer than it should

You check the town website, call a couple of haulers, and wait on callbacks that never come. One quote sounds vague, another needs a site visit. Weeks later, the pile is still sitting in the garage.

Free city pickup is great, when it works

Municipal pickup schedules can work if your item qualifies and you plan ahead. Many programs need advance requests or stickers, and Massachusetts restricts mattresses and electronics from regular trash. You still have to drag everything to the curb yourself, and that's a real job when it's coming up from a basement.

Traditional haulers play pricing games

Many haulers want to send someone out for an estimate before they'll give you a number. Then the price gets tied to how much of the truck your load fills, so you won't know the real cost until the job is over and the bill shows up.

Donation centers are picky (rightly)

Donation centers have good reasons to turn things away. Stained upholstery, worn mattresses, and older electronics often get refused, and some places only accept drop-offs during set hours. That leaves you loading the car, making the drive, and possibly bringing half of it back home.

Dumpster rental is overkill for one room

A dumpster sits on your driveway for days, and you still do every bit of the lifting. Delivery and pickup have to be scheduled, a street placement may need a permit, and the neighbors on your block will notice. That's a lot of setup for one cleared-out room.

What sets us apart

Your price is locked before pickup day

Most companies charge by truck space, and the price often changes on arrival. LoadUp charges by item, based on exactly what you're removing.

  • Per-item, predictable. First item includes the pickup fee. Every add-on is flat, no truck math, no hourly rates.
  • Locked means locked. The price at booking is what you pay. No adjustments, no surprises.
  • No-obligation quotes. Big job or full cleanout? Text a photo for a guaranteed price first.

Neighborhoods Served

Serving Wilmington, on both sides of I-93

Wilmington runs on commuter time, so the basement full of old projects and the limbs left by the last nor'easter keep waiting for a free weekend. Nobody wants to spend it on dump runs with a loaded trunk. Your Loaders carry it out, load it, and haul it away, because your neighbors deserve that Saturday back.

What Happens to Your Junk

Donation first, recycling second, landfill last

Bulky items are hard to move alone, and where they end up matters as much as getting them out of the house. In Wilmington, your Loaders sort each load by condition, using local options when they allow.

Gently Used

Donation Pickup

Furniture and household goods that are clean and in good shape may be donated when local options allow. Your Loaders set those pieces aside and carry them out separately from the rest of the load.

  • Tax-deductible receipt by request
  • Diverts waste from landfill
  • Free up your space and help a neighbor

Visible Wear

Recycling

Items too worn to donate, like a broken appliance or old electronics, may be recycled where available. Your Loaders keep these separate from general trash so they can go to the right channel.

  • Materials sorted and recovered
  • Diverted from landfill where possible
  • Compliant with local waste regs

Heavily Damaged

Responsible Disposal

Heavily damaged or contaminated items, such as a soaked mattress or rotted deck boards, go to responsible disposal. Your Loaders haul them away from your Wilmington property so you don't make the trip.

  • No logistics or transport to handle
  • No sorting or drop-off required on your end
  • Local disposal fees covered

Local Disposal Rules

The Wilmington disposal rules most residents don't know

Putting out an item that state law bans from the trash, or skipping a required pickup appointment, can leave it sitting at the curb. Here is how disposal works in Wilmington, Middlesex County.

Rule 01

Branches downed in storms can only be burned during a short window

Massachusetts bans leaves and yard waste from the trash. You can burn brush from winter storms only between January 15 and May 1, and you need a permit from the local fire department. Burning leaves, grass, or stumps is illegal everywhere in the state.

Rule 02

Appliances and TVs need a paid Casella pickup appointment

Wilmington puts appliances, televisions, and monitors in a group called White Goods/CRTs. To get them collected, you buy a $25 pickup appointment from Casella, the town's trash contractor. Massachusetts bans these items from the trash because they contain metals, refrigerants, and leaded glass.

Rule 03

Old clothing and linens can no longer go in the trash

Since November 2022, Massachusetts has banned textiles from the trash. That includes torn, stained, or worn-out clothing, bedding, towels, and shoes. Many textile collectors take damaged items because fabric that can't be resold gets sorted for rags and fiber.

Rule 04

Drywall, lumber, and other renovation scraps are banned from disposal

Massachusetts bans asphalt pavement, brick, concrete, metal, wood, and clean gypsum wallboard from disposal. Debris from a kitchen gut or basement teardown has to go to a facility that separates these materials, and loads full of them can be turned away.

Rule 05

Bulk items need their own pickup request through Casella

Casella Waste Systems runs Wilmington's curbside trash program under contract with the Department of Public Works. Bulk items are collected on a separate pickup. You request it directly from Casella, which then sets the date.

Rule 06

Mattresses and box springs have their own disposal process

Massachusetts added mattresses to its waste ban in November 2022 because most of their steel, foam, wood, and fabric can be recycled. In Wilmington, mattresses and box springs are picked up through the same paid Casella appointment used for appliances.

Not loose. Wilmington's curbside service covers regular trash and recycling barrels, and bulky items can be refused unless the town's rules are met. Dumping items outside your normal collection setup can count as illegal dumping. Check with the Town Hall Collector's Office first.

LoadUp pricing for junk removal in Wilmington starts at $105 for a single item, and curbside or driveway pickup takes $5 off. The first item includes the base pickup fee, each additional item is a flat add-on, and the exact total is confirmed before booking.

Often, depending on Loader schedules and your timing. Enter your Wilmington zip code during booking to see live same-day and next-day openings. For curbside items you usually don't need to be home. For indoor pickups, someone should be present or leave access instructions.

Major appliances like washers and dryers need a separate paid appointment. Residents buy a sticker at Town Hall before 11am Thursday, then call 1-800-CASELLA to pay $25 for pickup, usually on a Monday. Paint, aerosol cans and similar items can't go in recycling barrels.

Loaders aim to donate usable items to local charities and recycle what they can, depending on acceptance. Items that can't be reused or recycled go to licensed disposal sites. Outcomes vary by item condition and what local facilities will take.

You get pricing online with the real-time price tool or by texting a photo of your items, then pick a time. The price is confirmed before booking. Your Loader arrives in the window, does the lifting and loading, and hauls everything away.

Pricing model and booking flow. Traditional haulers often price by truckload and may confirm the cost on site. LoadUp prices per item online before anyone arrives. For a few items that can cost less, while a full garage cleanout may suit a truckload hauler better.
