The Problem

Getting rid of junk in Westphalia shouldn't take weeks

First you search online, then you dig through county pages and leave voicemails for haulers who never call back. One quote comes in vague. Another never comes at all. Meanwhile the junk sits in your garage for another weekend.

Free city pickup is great, when it works

Prince George's County bulk trash programs can help, but you have to request a pickup ahead of time, follow item limits, and wait for an open date. Some items need special handling. And you still have to drag everything out to the pickup spot yourself.

Traditional haulers play pricing games

Many local haulers want to come out and look before they give you a price. Then the quote depends on how much of the truck your load seems to fill, and that number can change once they arrive. You end up with a schedule built around their estimate visit.

Donation centers are picky (rightly)

Thrift stores and charities have to be careful about what they accept, so a scuffed bookshelf or a worn recliner often gets turned away. Even when they do take something, you usually have to load it up and drive it over. The rest still needs somewhere to go.

Dumpster rental is overkill for one room

A roll-off container makes sense for a full gut renovation, not for clearing out one spare room. You plan around delivery and pickup windows, may need permission to place it, and it takes over your driveway for days. Plus, you still do all the lifting.

What sets us apart

Your price is locked before pickup day

Most companies charge by truck space, and the price often changes on arrival. LoadUp charges by item, based on exactly what you're removing.

  • Per-item, predictable. First item includes the pickup fee. Every add-on is flat, no truck math, no hourly rates.
  • Locked means locked. The price at booking is what you pay. No adjustments, no surprises.
  • No-obligation quotes. Big job or full cleanout? Text a photo for a guaranteed price first.

Pickup Options

Left at the curb or carried out from where it sits

If the old patio set or leftover lumber is already waiting at the end of your driveway, curbside is the simpler choice. Choose full-service when items are still in an upstairs bedroom or the back of a packed garage, and your Loaders will carry everything out, even to a truck parked at the far end of a long driveway on a rural-style lot.

Neighborhoods Served

Serving Westphalia, along MD 4 and out to Upper Marlboro

Westphalia has spent years turning old farm country into new streets, and the garages, basements, and back lots fill up as fast. Borrowing a truck, strapping down drywall, and finding a county drop-off point is a lot to ask of a weekend. Your Loaders would rather do the lifting, and they like showing up for neighbors here.

What Happens to Your Junk

Donation first, recycling second, landfill last

Bulky items don't all end up in the same place, and that matters in Westphalia, where renovations and moves generate everything from furniture to yard debris. Your Loader sorts each item by condition, favoring reuse when local options allow.

Gently Used

Donation Pickup

Items in good, clean condition may be donated when possible and when local options allow. Your Loader sets aside usable pieces like dressers, bookcases, or dining chairs for that path instead of the trash.

  • Tax-deductible receipt by request
  • Diverts waste from landfill
  • Free up your space and help a neighbor

Visible Wear

Recycling

Items that are worn or damaged but not fit for donation may be recycled where available. Your Loader separates materials such as scrap metal, cardboard, or wood when local recycling options make that possible.

  • Materials sorted and recovered
  • Diverted from landfill where possible
  • Compliant with local waste regs

Heavily Damaged

Responsible Disposal

Heavily damaged or contaminated bulky items, like soaked carpet or broken sectionals, are handled by your Loader through responsible disposal. Where Prince George's County facilities accept them, those items go to a licensed disposal site.

  • No logistics or transport to handle
  • No sorting or drop-off required on your end
  • Local disposal fees covered

Local Disposal Rules

The Westphalia disposal rules most residents don't know

Unincorporated Westphalia follows Prince George's County collection rules, and items set out incorrectly, such as yard trim in plastic bags, are left behind at the curb. Here is what applies.

Rule 01

Curbside mattresses must be fully sealed in plastic

Since 2019, Prince George's County has required mattresses and box springs set out for curbside bulky pickup to be completely covered in protective plastic, a health and safety measure for staff. Mattresses residents drop off at the landfill need no covering.

Rule 02

Storm-downed limbs must be cut short and tied in bundles

After severe weather, the County collects fallen branches with Monday yard trim. Limbs cannot exceed 4 feet in length or 3 inches in diameter and must be securely tied in bundles. Plastic bags are not accepted for any yard trim.

Rule 03

Refrigerators and other white goods need a PGC311 appointment

White goods such as refrigerators, air conditioners, washers, and dryers are not part of the no-appointment weekly bulky set-out. They must be scheduled through PGC311 and are collected on a different schedule than regular curbside bulky items.

Rule 04

Latex paint can go in the trash once fully dried

The County does not classify latex paint as hazardous waste. Let it dry completely, bag it, and place it in the trash cart. Oil-based paints are hazardous and currently go to County mobile collection events while the landfill drop-off site is closed for construction.

Rule 05

Flat-screen TVs are excluded from weekly bulky set-outs

Weekly curbside bulky collection takes console and tube televisions only, not flat screen models. Electronics go through a separate appointment-only curbside collection scheduled through PGC311, which runs on the third Monday of every month.

Rule 06

Remodeling debris is barred from curbside bulky collection

County bulky pickup is meant for regular household items, not demolition or renovation materials such as shingles and roofing. Brick, rocks, soil, and similar construction materials are also not permitted at the Brown Station Road Sanitary Landfill.

Only within Prince George's County's bulky trash rules. Homes with county-provided trash service can set out two bulky items, such as furniture, on their regular trash day with no appointment. Anything beyond that, left on the curb, risks being treated as illegal dumping.

LoadUp pricing for junk removal in Westphalia starts at $85, and curbside or driveway pickup takes a flat $5 off. The first item includes the base pickup fee, and each additional item is a flat add-on charge. The exact total is confirmed before booking.

Same-day and next-day pickups are often available in Westphalia, depending on the schedule and your location. Availability shows when you enter your address at booking. For items left outside, nobody has to be home. For indoor pickups, someone should be there or leave access instructions.

The county's bulky trash program leaves out large appliances and car parts. Those still require calling 311 to arrange a pickup. Mattresses must be in protective plastic encasement, and carpet is limited to 324 square feet, rolled and tied. A hauler can take items outside these limits.

Loaders aim to donate usable items to local charities and recycle what they can, depending on acceptance. Whatever can't be donated or recycled goes to licensed disposal sites. Outcomes vary by item condition, so donation or recycling can't be guaranteed for every load.

You book online, choose your items and a pickup window, and see your price before you confirm. On pickup day, Loaders arrive, load the items, and haul them away. You can leave items at the curb or driveway for a $5 discount, or have them taken from inside.

Pricing model and booking flow. Traditional haulers usually price by truckload, and the final number is often set at an on-site estimate. LoadUp prices per item online, and the total is confirmed before booking. For a few items that is often cheaper, while a full cleanout may suit a truckload hauler.

For one or two eligible items on your regular trash day, the county program is the better choice because it needs no appointment. A hauler makes more sense for appliances, items over the limit, or when you need a specific pickup time or want items taken from inside your home.
