The Problem

Clearing out junk in Daviess County takes more than you'd think

You search online, call around about pickup rules, and leave messages with a few haulers who never call back. A weekend goes by, then a month, and the junk is still sitting in the garage.

Free city pickup is great, when it works

If your address has a municipal pickup schedule, it can handle the basics. Pickup programs usually limit how much you can set out and which items qualify, and some take only one request at a time. Everything still has to reach the curb, and you're the one carrying it there.

Traditional haulers play pricing games

A lot of haulers want to come out and look before they give you a number, so you're stuck waiting at home just for a quote. Charges based on how much of the truck you fill are hard to predict, and the final bill often doesn't match the first estimate.

Donation centers are picky (rightly)

Donating makes sense when something still has plenty of use left in it. Thrift stores and charities often turn away worn upholstery, stained mattresses, or broken pieces, and very few will pick up from a farmhouse porch or a basement. That still leaves the leftovers for you to deal with.

Dumpster rental is overkill for one room

A roll-off container is made for a full renovation, not a spare bedroom cleanout. You'd be planning around delivery and pickup windows, checking whether a permit applies, and leaving a big steel box on the driveway for days. And you still have to do all the lifting yourself.

What sets us apart

Your price is locked before pickup day

Most companies charge by truck space, and the price often changes on arrival. LoadUp charges by item, based on exactly what you're removing.

  • Per-item, predictable. First item includes the pickup fee. Every add-on is flat, no truck math, no hourly rates.
  • Locked means locked. The price at booking is what you pay. No adjustments, no surprises.
  • No-obligation quotes. Big job or full cleanout? Text a photo for a guaranteed price first.

Local Disposal Rules

The Washington disposal rules most residents don't know

The Daviess County Landfill turns away items that state law keeps out, and some waste can bring a fine. These Washington and Daviess County rules help you plan a cleanout.

Rule 01

Limb pickup comes with stacking rules and excludes contractor debris

Limbs that residents cut themselves are picked up when called in. Lay them in one direction with cut ends facing the street, don't crisscross them, and keep piles under 4 feet. Under City Ordinance 98.05, the contractor or the landowner must remove debris from hired tree work.

Rule 02

The county landfill only takes trash generated in Daviess County

The Daviess County Landfill accepts only waste generated in Daviess County. Under Ordinance 3-88, bringing in trash from outside the county can lead to a fine. Debris from a cleanout in a neighboring county can't be dumped at this site.

Rule 03

Old books and cardboard boxes have a recycling outlet in town

Washington's Street Department Recycling Center takes corrugated boxes, paperboard boxes, cardboard packaging, magazines, catalogs, phone books, and hard-back and paperback books. Shelves of old reading material and moving boxes can be recycled instead of going to the landfill.

Rule 04

Tires are barred from the landfill, with a separate container

The law keeps waste tires out of the Daviess County Landfill. Instead, the district has a waste tire container for county residents, but businesses can't use it. Each tire has a fee, and tires still mounted on rims cost more.

Rule 05

Motor oil and antifreeze have their own drop-off shed

By law, the county landfill refuses free liquids such as paint, oil, and pesticides. Washington's Recycling Center takes used motor oil and antifreeze in marked containers inside a small shed. Never mix the two fluids.

Rule 06

Bagged grass and leaves never go out for city pickup

The Washington Street Department doesn't pick up bagged grass, bagged leaves, or other bagged yard waste, and by law the county landfill refuses yard waste. Residents can drop bagged yard waste in the bin at the Street Department instead.

Not unless it is part of your regular trash service, and size limits apply. Leaving extra junk out or dumping it elsewhere can count as illegal dumping. Call Washington's city sanitation office to confirm what your collection covers.

Book online, pick the items and an arrival window, and see your total before confirming. On pickup day your Loader arrives, confirms the items, and hauls them away. You pay the price you were quoted, with no estimate visit needed.
