The Problem

Getting junk out of a Sugar Land home takes longer than it should

You check the city's pickup rules, call a couple of haulers, and wait on quotes that never come back. Meanwhile the garage stays full, the weekend slips by, and the junk is still sitting exactly where you left it.

Free city pickup is great, when it works

City bulk pickup programs work well for some bulky items, but they come with limits on volume, item types, and set-out timing. Appliances, renovation debris, and anything that needs carrying from an upstairs room usually fall outside what a municipal pickup schedule will handle.

Traditional haulers play pricing games

Many haulers want to see the job before they quote it, so you're waiting around for an estimate visit. Then the price is based on a vague fraction of a truck, and the final number can shift once the crew is standing in your driveway.

Donation centers are picky (rightly)

Donation centers have to be selective, so stained cushions, scuffed dressers, and older electronics often get turned away. You're also on your own for loading and the drive, and whatever they decline ends up back in your garage.

Dumpster rental is overkill for one room

A dumpster makes sense for a full gut renovation, not for clearing one room. You'll juggle delivery and pickup windows, possible permits or HOA approval, and a big steel box covering your driveway that neighbors notice for days.

What sets us apart

Your price is locked before pickup day

Most companies charge by truck space, and the price often changes on arrival. LoadUp charges by item, based on exactly what you're removing.

  • Per-item, predictable. First item includes the pickup fee. Every add-on is flat, no truck math, no hourly rates.
  • Locked means locked. The price at booking is what you pay. No adjustments, no surprises.
  • No-obligation quotes. Big job or full cleanout? Text a photo for a guaranteed price first.

Neighborhoods Served

Serving Sugar Land, from US-59 out to the Grand Parkway

Dragging an old recliner down the driveway in a Sugar Land July is its own endurance sport. The humidity wins before you've finished your coffee, and the garage feels like a sauna. Your Loader does the lifting, carrying, and hauling while you stay in the air conditioning, because we genuinely like showing up for this community.

What Happens to Your Junk

Donation first, recycling second, landfill last

Bulky items rarely belong in one place once they leave the house, which is why where a load ends up matters in Sugar Land. Your Loader sorts by condition, so reusable pieces and true trash take different paths.

Gently Used

Donation Pickup

When furniture, appliances, or housewares are clean and still working, your Loader can set them aside for donation where available. Local charities decide what they accept, so outcomes are hedged and depend on demand.

  • Tax-deductible receipt by request
  • Diverts waste from landfill
  • Free up your space and help a neighbor

Visible Wear

Recycling

Items that are worn or damaged but not ready for donation may be recycled when local options allow. Your Loader separates metal, cardboard, and similar materials from the load when possible, so they have a chance at reuse.

  • Materials sorted and recovered
  • Diverted from landfill where possible
  • Compliant with local waste regs

Heavily Damaged

Responsible Disposal

Heavily damaged, soiled, or contaminated bulky pieces, such as a ruined sofa or waterlogged mattress, are taken by your Loader to an approved disposal site, with landfill used only for what cannot be reused.

  • No logistics or transport to handle
  • No sorting or drop-off required on your end
  • Local disposal fees covered

Local Disposal Rules

The Sugar Land disposal rules most residents don't know

If you set an item out the wrong way, it gets left uncollected. These are the rules that apply to Sugar Land households in Fort Bend County.

Rule 01

Carpet goes out in 4-foot strips under 50 pounds

You can set out water-damaged or worn carpeting on your monthly bulky waste day. It must be cut into 4-foot strips, and no piece can weigh more than 50 pounds. Wet carpet gets heavy fast, so cut the strips small.

Rule 02

Old fence posts must be nail-free, short, and cement-free

Sugar Land collects fence posts at the curb on your bulky waste day only if they have no nails, are shorter than 4 feet and have no cement attached. Posts pulled out with their concrete footings still on them don't qualify.

Rule 03

Electronics and chemicals set out with bulky waste get left behind

Household hazardous waste and electronics placed at the curb with bulky waste won't be collected. Sugar Land holds two drive-through Recycle Round Up events a year. Staff unload batteries, paints, motor oils and electronics for residents who bring a valid ID and a utility bill.

Rule 04

Trees downed by storms must be cut to firewood size

When storms bring down trees, stumps and large limbs that aren't cut into firewood-size pieces, about 2 feet by 6 inches, won't be collected. Stack the pieces in piles about 3 feet by 3 feet by 3 feet, up to 15 cubic yards per collection.

Rule 05

Remodeling debris is excluded from curbside bulky waste service

Sugar Land defines bulky waste as furniture, stoves and other large household items. It specifically excludes construction and demolition refuse. Remodeling debris and stones aren't accepted at the curb and can go to a local landfill for a fee.

Rule 06

Refrigerators need a licensed professional's tag showing the freon is removed

Freezers, refrigerators and air conditioning units must have their Freon removed before curbside pickup. A licensed professional must also tag the appliance as free of refrigerants. Appliances without that certification can go to the Fort Bend County Recycling Center in Rosenberg instead.

Only on your monthly bulky waste day. Sugar Land collects bulky items once a month on Mondays, up to five cubic yards. Set items out no earlier than 6 p.m. the evening before and by 7 a.m. that day, at least four feet from other objects.

LoadUp pricing for junk removal in Sugar Land starts at $75, and curbside or driveway pickup takes $5 off. The first item includes the base pickup fee and each additional item is a flat add-on charge, with the exact total confirmed before booking. The city's monthly bulky pickup is the cheaper option if you can wait.

Same-day slots are sometimes open depending on Loader availability near your address. Enter your Sugar Land zip code during booking to see live times. Next-day and scheduled pickups are generally easier to get, especially on weekends.

Not for curbside or driveway pickups. Leave items out with access notes. For items inside the home, someone should be there, or you can give access instructions when booking. Your Loader will notify you before arriving.

Appliances with refrigerant need the freon removed before the city will collect them. Household hazardous waste, such as paint and chemicals, doesn't go in bulky pickup. Sugar Land holds Recycle Round Up drop-off events for hazardous waste and electronics, so check the city's schedule.

Loaders aim to keep usable items out of the landfill by donating them to local charities when options allow. They try to recycle what charities can't accept, depending on acceptance. Items that can't be donated or recycled go to an appropriate disposal facility.

Pick your items online, choose a time window, and see your total before you confirm. On pickup day your Loader arrives, removes the items, and hauls them away. There's no in-person estimate step, so the price you booked is the one you pay.

Mainly the pricing model. College HUNKS prices by the truck space your items need and gives a free estimate before work starts. LoadUp prices per item online, with the total shown before booking. For a few items, per-item pricing often fits better. For a full cleanout, a truckload quote may fit better.
