The Problem

Richmond has options. None of them do the lifting.

You check the city site, call to ask what actually qualifies, then start hunting for a hauler. Two call back. One wants to see it first. A month later, the junk has not moved.

Free city pickup is great, when it works

The program runs on its own calendar, accepts a limited amount at a time, and leaves out whole categories like remodeling debris. You also have to get everything out to the curb yourself, which is the part that stopped you in the first place.

Traditional haulers play pricing games

Most want to walk the garage before quoting anything, then charge by how much of the truck you fill, which stays a guess until it is loaded. Scheduling the estimate costs you one afternoon. Scheduling the actual pickup costs another.

Donation centers are picky (rightly)

Charities hold a standard for good reason, since they have to sell what comes through the door. Stained, torn, dated, or non-working items get declined on the spot, and most expect you to deliver it. That still leaves the rest of the pile.

Dumpster rental is overkill for one room

A roll-off occupies your driveway for days, needs permission if it sits near the street, and comes and goes on the rental company's schedule. Every bit of the loading is still yours, usually for a job that never needed a container.

What sets us apart

Your price is locked before pickup day

Most companies charge by truck space, and the price often changes on arrival. LoadUp charges by item, based on exactly what you're removing.

  • Per-item, predictable. First item includes the pickup fee. Every add-on is flat, no truck math, no hourly rates.
  • Locked means locked. The price at booking is what you pay. No adjustments, no surprises.
  • No-obligation quotes. Big job or full cleanout? Text a photo for a guaranteed price first.

Neighborhoods Served

Serving all of Richmond, from the end of the Orchard Trail out to Gratiot

Half the driveways in this town already have a truck and a trailer parked in them, which is exactly why the dead water heater has been sitting in the pole barn since spring. Borrowed muscle is harder to come by than hauling capacity. Your Loaders bring both, and they like working for people who wave back.

What Happens to Your Junk

Donation first, recycling second, landfill last

What leaves your property still has to go somewhere, and in Richmond that answer depends on condition. Your Loader looks over each piece on site and checks for a donation or recycling option before the landfill when one exists nearby.

Gently Used

Donation Pickup

If a couch, dresser, or patio set is still clean and structurally sound, your Loader will look for a nearby donation or resale outlet that accepts that category.

  • Tax-deductible receipt by request
  • Diverts waste from landfill
  • Free up your space and help a neighbor

Visible Wear

Recycling

Damaged pieces are not automatically trash. Metal, wood, and electronics can still be salvaged, so your Loader checks for a scrap or recycling option that is open nearby and accepting.

  • Materials sorted and recovered
  • Diverted from landfill where possible
  • Compliant with local waste regs

Heavily Damaged

Responsible Disposal

Broken beyond use, soaked, or mold stained, a bulky item still has to go somewhere legal. Your Loader takes it to a licensed transfer station or landfill serving the Richmond area.

  • No logistics or transport to handle
  • No sorting or drop-off required on your end
  • Local disposal fees covered

Local Disposal Rules

The Richmond disposal rules most residents don't know

Set out the wrong item in Richmond and it gets left at the curb, and a lingering pile in Macomb County invites a blight citation.

Rule 01

One bulk item per week at the curb

Richmond's contracted hauler takes a single large item on your Monday collection with no call ahead needed. A second couch, dresser or grill set out the same week stays behind until the next collection.

Rule 02

Freon must be recovered before appliances hit the curb

Refrigerators, freezers, water heaters and air conditioners are only collected after the refrigerant is professionally recovered, and doors have to come off first. Federal clean air rules require certified recovery, so venting Freon yourself is illegal.

Rule 03

Construction debris is not a curbside material

Concrete, brick, building materials, railroad ties, cyclone fencing and tree stumps are all excluded from Richmond's residential collection. Remodel and demolition debris has to reach a licensed disposal facility by another route entirely.

Rule 04

Yard waste runs April through November only

Richmond collects yard waste weekly from the first Monday in April through the last Monday in November, in paper lawn bags or a marked 32-gallon container, ten bags maximum. Michigan law keeps yard clippings out of landfills year round.

Rule 05

Electronics need a recycler, not a hazardous waste day

Macomb County's household hazardous waste events do not accept computers, monitors or televisions. Michigan's statewide electronic waste takeback law puts recycling of covered devices on manufacturers, so screens and CPUs belong with registered electronics recyclers.

Rule 06

Tires, batteries and paint stay out of the trash

Richmond's hauler leaves behind tires, batteries, oil-based paint, motor oil and other hazardous liquids. Michigan bars whole tires, lead-acid batteries and used oil from landfills, and Macomb County holds appointment-based household hazardous waste collections on select spring and fall Fridays.

Yes, within limits. Priority Waste handles city collection and allows one bulk item per week on your Monday trash day with no call ahead, set out by 7 a.m. or the night before. Large furniture, appliances, grills, and similar items go out alongside your regular rubbish.

LoadUp pricing for junk removal in Richmond starts at $80, and curbside or driveway pickups take $5 off. The first item covers the base pickup fee, and each additional piece is a flat add-on, so your full total is confirmed upfront before you book. City bulk service is free but limited to one item per week.

Same-day and next-day slots open up in many Richmond zip codes when you book early in the day. Because the city only takes one bulk item each Monday, LoadUp is the faster route when you have several pieces or can't wait for your collection week. Enter your zip during booking to see live availability.

Yes. Through Priority Waste, mattresses and box springs must be wrapped, and refrigerator or appliance doors have to be removed with the Freon taken out first. Trash bags are capped at 50 pounds and carts at 75 pounds. Only one bulk item is collected per week, so extra pieces need another option.

Loaders sort items and try to keep usable goods and recyclables out of Macomb County landfills whenever options allow. Furniture and household goods in good shape may be donated, metals and appliances can head to recyclers, and only what's left goes to disposal. Outcomes depend on item condition and local acceptance.

You price the job online by selecting your junk, pick a pickup window, and lock in the total before anyone arrives. A Loader typically calls about 30 minutes ahead. For curbside pickups you don't need to be home, and for in-home jobs someone should be present or leave access notes.

Mainly pricing and booking. Traditional haulers like 1-800-GOT-JUNK and Junk King often charge by truckload and quote on site, so the price firms up once the truck arrives. LoadUp prices per item online and locks it in before pickup, which usually runs less on small one or two item jobs.
