The Problem

Getting rid of old paint in St. Martin takes more than you'd think

You search for answers, call the county, and get vague replies about drop-off days. A hauler or two promises a callback that never comes. Weeks later, the same rusty cans are still sitting on your garage shelf.

Free city pickup is great, when it works

St. Martin is unincorporated, so you may not have a city-run bulk program to call at all. Where municipal pickup schedules do exist, liquid paint is often excluded, and collection days rarely line up with when your garage actually gets cleared out.

Traditional haulers play pricing games

Many haulers want to see the job in person before quoting, then price by how much of the truck you fill. A few shelves of half-used cans can get an unclear number, and some crews won't touch paint at all once they arrive.

Donation centers are picky (rightly)

Most donation centers won't take opened, separated, or years-old paint, and Gulf Coast humidity ruins a lot of stored cans pretty quickly. Even sealed paint is usually a hard sell. Donation can work for some usable items, but it won't clear the shelf.

Dumpster rental is overkill for one room

A roll-off container for a stack of paint cans means waiting on delivery windows, finding room in the driveway, and maybe hearing from neighbors. Plenty of dumpster companies also ban liquid paint, so you could rent one and still be stuck with the cans.

What sets us apart

Your price is locked before pickup day

Most companies charge by truck space, and the price often changes on arrival. LoadUp charges by item, based on exactly what you're removing.

  • Per-item, predictable. First item includes the pickup fee. Every add-on is flat, no truck math, no hourly rates.
  • Locked means locked. The price at booking is what you pay. No adjustments, no surprises.
  • No-obligation quotes. Big job or full cleanout? Text a photo for a guaranteed price first.

Neighborhoods Served

Serving St. Martin, all along the north shore of Back Bay

Gulf Coast humidity is hard on a garage shelf. Cans rust shut, lids weld themselves down, and half-used paint from three repaints ago keeps waiting for a cooler day that never comes. Your Loaders like showing up for St. Martin neighbors, checking the cans, carrying them out, and loading them securely, so the shelf finally clears.

What Happens to Your Junk

Donation first, recycling second, landfill last

Bulky items pile up fast in St. Martin garages and sheds, which is why where things end up matters as much as the haul itself. Your Loader sorts each load by condition, favoring donation or recycling when local options allow.

Local Disposal Rules

The St. Martin disposal rules most residents don't know

Liquid paint is barred from curbside carts and the county landfill, and piles left in the street get returned to your property. These Jackson County rules govern Saint Martin.

Rule 01

Let leftover water-based paint dry before tossing the can

Jackson County asks residents to combine leftover water-based paint into as few cans as possible. Empty cans can go in household garbage once the paint left in them has dried. The Seaman Road Landfill does not accept paint or paint buckets.

Rule 02

Appliances need their motors removed before landfill drop-off

The Seaman Road Landfill accepts white goods only with the motors removed, and engines or motors are on its list of items it does not accept. Mississippi's environmental agency discourages putting appliances in landfills because the bulky units use up valuable space.

Rule 03

Roadside piles in the street get put back on your property

Saint Martin sits outside city limits, so Jackson County's once-a-month roadside pickup applies, with a limit of three cubic yards per pickup. Rubbish placed in the street is put back on the property. These limits do not apply when the Board of Supervisors declares an emergency.

Rule 04

Thinners and wood finishes wait for the spring collection day

Paint thinner, turpentine, varnish, water seal and wood finish go to Jackson County's yearly Household Hazardous Waste Collection Day. The event is funded by the Mississippi Department of Environmental Quality and is usually held in spring. Store these products until then, because WM curbside carts don't take household hazardous waste.

Rule 05

Whole cut-up trees never qualify for county roadside collection

The county will not pick up a whole cut-up tree or any part of one, or debris from clearing a vacant lot. During dry spells, the county encourages residents to use the landfill, which accepts limbs, stumps and leaves, to help prevent fires.

Rule 06

Renovation debris is excluded from the county roadside pickup

Jackson County will not collect rubbish from building or renovating structures. Residents with a Jackson County car tag can take brick, concrete, mortar and non-treated wood to the Seaman Road Landfill for free instead.

Not without checking first. St. Martin is unincorporated, so trash service and bulk rules come through Jackson County rather than a city hall. Piles left out without a pickup arranged can be treated as illegal dumping, so confirm with the county solid waste office.

LoadUp pricing for junk removal in St. Martin starts at $80, and curbside pickup takes $5 off. The first item includes the base pickup fee and each additional item is a flat add-on charge. The exact total is confirmed before booking.

Same-day slots are sometimes open, but it depends on Loader availability near Biloxi and D'Iberville that day. Enter your address at booking to see live openings. Next-day is more dependable, and you can pick a window that suits you.

Don't put them in regular trash or storm drains. Jackson County has held free Household Hazardous Waste Collection Days at the Conrad Mallett Arena in Vancleave that accept paint, batteries, gasoline and cleaners. Event dates vary, so check with county solid waste.

Loaders aim to keep usable items out of the landfill by donating them to local charities when options allow. They try to recycle what they can, depending on acceptance. Anything that can't be donated or recycled goes to the proper disposal facility.

Not for curbside pickups. Leave items in an easy-to-reach spot outside and add access notes when you book. For in-home pickups of heavy or hard-to-move items, someone needs to be there or you can give access instructions at booking.

The main difference is pricing and booking. Truck-based haulers usually charge by the amount of space your load fills and may confirm the price on site. LoadUp prices per item online, with the total confirmed before booking. For big full-house cleanouts, truckload pricing can fit better.
