The Problem

Getting junk off the property is harder than it looks

You read up on the town's rules, leave a voicemail or two, request a few hauler quotes, and wait for callbacks that sometimes never come. Weeks go by, and the pile in the barn hasn't moved an inch.

Free city pickup is great, when it works

Rochester's town schedules and rules can limit which items are accepted and when, and some bulky pieces need extra steps before they qualify. Even then, you're the one hauling everything out to the road from a long gravel driveway or a back field.

Traditional haulers play pricing games

Many old-school haulers want to drive out to look before they'll give you a number, then price by the truckload so you're guessing how much of the bed your stuff fills. The final figure often stays unclear until the truck is already loaded.

Donation centers are picky (rightly)

Donation centers carefully check condition, and fair enough. A scratched hutch, a recliner that's been sitting in the shed, or a set of rusty weights often gets turned away, so you have to load it up and drive it all back home.

Dumpster rental is overkill for one room

A roll-off container means booking delivery and pickup windows, finding level ground that won't rut the lawn, and maybe checking on permits. Then it sits in your yard for days while you do all the lifting yourself, just to clear out one room.

What sets us apart

Your price is locked before pickup day

Most companies charge by truck space, and the price often changes on arrival. LoadUp charges by item, based on exactly what you're removing.

  • Per-item, predictable. First item includes the pickup fee. Every add-on is flat, no truck math, no hourly rates.
  • Locked means locked. The price at booking is what you pay. No adjustments, no surprises.
  • No-obligation quotes. Big job or full cleanout? Text a photo for a guaranteed price first.

Neighborhoods Served

Serving North Rochester, and every corner of the town of Rochester

A shed of lumber, a barn nobody has sorted since spring, and a commute toward New Bedford or Boston add up to a lot for one dump run. Your Loaders walk out to the outbuilding, carry the pile down the long driveway, and haul it off, glad to show up for neighbors who deserve their weekends back.

What Happens to Your Junk

Donation first, recycling second, landfill last

Bulky items rarely fit in a pickup bed or a trunk, so where they end up matters as much as getting them out. In North Rochester, your Loader sorts each item by condition, when local options allow.

Gently Used

Donation Pickup

Furniture and household goods that are clean and in good shape may be donated where available. Your Loader sets those pieces aside when possible, though no donation receipt is promised and acceptance depends on local options.

  • Tax-deductible receipt by request
  • Diverts waste from landfill
  • Free up your space and help a neighbor

Visible Wear

Recycling

Items that are worn or damaged but not donatable, like metal frames or some appliances and electronics, may be recycled when local options allow. Your Loader separates them by material, and outcomes vary by item type.

  • Materials sorted and recovered
  • Diverted from landfill where possible
  • Compliant with local waste regs

Heavily Damaged

Responsible Disposal

Heavily damaged, soiled, or broken bulky items, such as waterlogged sofas or rotted outbuilding lumber, are hauled off for responsible disposal. Your Loader carries them out, and rules for mattresses and electronics can differ.

  • No logistics or transport to handle
  • No sorting or drop-off required on your end
  • Local disposal fees covered

Local Disposal Rules

The North Rochester disposal rules most residents don't know

A missing windshield sticker or a load of banned materials gets you turned away at the transfer station, so here is what applies in North Rochester and Plymouth County.

Rule 01

Storm-felled logs and stumps need a different disposal route

After nor'easters and winter storms, keep in mind that the Marion Transfer Station takes leaves, grass clippings, and composting materials but does not accept stumps or logs. Marion's DPW storm brush drop-off after the Blizzard of 2026 was open only to Marion residents.

Rule 02

Clothing, linens, and shoes are banned from Massachusetts trash

Since November 2022, MassDEP has banned textiles from the trash, including towels, linens, bags, belts, and shoes. Rochester works with CMRK, which has blue drop-off bins at the Highway Barn, the Council on Aging, and the fire station. Residents can also schedule home pickups.

Rule 03

Bathroom remodel leftovers are refused at the transfer station

The Marion Transfer Station accepts only household residential waste. It does not accept porcelain fixtures, fiberglass shower stalls, insulation, pressure treated wood, raw lumber, brick, or demolition and construction debris, so you will need a separate plan for remodel leftovers.

Rule 04

Refrigerators and dehumidifiers need a prepaid item sticker first

The Marion Transfer Station takes refrigerators, freezers, air conditioners, ice makers, water coolers, and dehumidifiers only for a fee charged per item. Rochester residents can buy individual item stickers from the Marion DPW office during regular business hours.

Rule 05

Couches and chairs are turned away at the transfer station

The Marion Transfer Station does not accept large furniture such as couches and chairs. Staff can also refuse excessive amounts of household waste, defined as five bags. Not following staff instructions can cost a household its transfer station privileges.

Rule 06

Mattresses and box springs have no place in the trash

Massachusetts banned mattresses from the trash in November 2022 under rules meant to promote recycling and reuse. The Marion Transfer Station, which serves Rochester residents, also does not accept mattresses or box springs.

Yes. Marion Transfer Station requires a yearly vehicle sticker, and Rochester and Marion residents can also buy individual bulky item stickers from the DPW office at Benson Brook Road. Call (508) 748-3500 for current bulky item fees and accepted materials.

No. Massachusetts bans disposing of mattresses and textiles in the trash, so they need to be recycled or donated. Other bulky items can have their own handling rules at the transfer station, so check with the station before you load your vehicle.

Loaders sort items and aim to donate usable pieces and recycle what they can, depending on acceptance by local partners. Whatever can't be donated or recycled goes to an appropriate disposal facility. Outcomes vary by item condition.

You pick your items and enter your address online, then see your upfront price before you confirm. Choose an arrival window, and the Loader contacts you before arriving. Point out the items, and they haul them away from your home, barn, or property.

Often yes for a large load, if you already have a truck and a sticker. The Rochester and Marion transfer station route costs $70 a year or $60 for seniors and veterans, plus your time and fuel. Hiring a service makes more sense for heavy items or tight schedules.
