Garbage, recyclables and large bulky items must be at the roadside by 6:00 AM, but not earlier than the day before. The town requires them on the side of the driveway opposite the mailbox. Rubbish containers cannot be larger than 45 gallons.
The Oneida-Herkimer Solid Waste Authority accepts paints, pesticides, pool chemicals and other household hazardous waste only from April 1 to September 30, and only at EcoDrop Utica. Only liquid paint is accepted, and residents of Oneida and Herkimer counties pay no fee.
Under the state's Electronic Equipment Recycling and Reuse Act, households cannot throw out computers, televisions or other electronic devices as garbage, and these items cannot go in curbside recycling. EcoDrop Utica and EcoDrop Rome take them free year-round, along with gaming systems and electric fans.
