The Problem

Getting rid of junk here takes more than it should

You search for options, call the city, leave messages with a couple of haulers, and wait on quotes that never show up. Another weekend passes, and the junk is still sitting in the garage.

Free city pickup is great, when it works

Municipal pickup schedules work fine if your items qualify and your timing lines up. Many programs require you to request a pickup ahead of time, limit what gets collected, and still expect you to drag everything to the curb yourself.

Traditional haulers play pricing games

Many haulers want to see the job in person before they'll quote it. Then the price depends on how much of the truck you fill, and you often don't find out the real total until the crew has loaded everything.

Donation centers are picky (rightly)

Local thrift stores and charities need items they can resell, so stained couches, worn mattresses, and broken appliances often get turned away. Even when they'll take something, you usually still have to get it there.

Dumpster rental is overkill for one room

A roll-off container makes sense for a full gut renovation. For one room or a cluttered garage, you're looking at delivery windows, possible permit rules, and a big steel box sitting on your driveway for days while the neighbors watch.

What sets us apart

Your price is locked before pickup day

Most companies charge by truck space, and the price often changes on arrival. LoadUp charges by item, based on exactly what you're removing.

  • Per-item, predictable. First item includes the pickup fee. Every add-on is flat, no truck math, no hourly rates.
  • Locked means locked. The price at booking is what you pay. No adjustments, no surprises.
  • No-obligation quotes. Big job or full cleanout? Text a photo for a guaranteed price first.

Local Disposal Rules

The West Bend disposal rules most residents don't know

A garbage cart with grass clippings in it or a brush pile that's too big gets left at the curb. These are the rules for West Bend and Washington County.

Rule 01

Furniture, appliances, and carpet never go out with curbside trash

West Bend's curbside collection doesn't take furniture, appliances, carpet, electronics or other bulky items. The city Drop-Off Yard won't take furniture, electronics, appliances, mattresses or carpet either. Public Works keeps a list of local businesses that may accept them.

Rule 02

Grass clippings in your garbage cart mean no pickup

Wisconsin has banned organic yard materials from landfills since 1993, and West Bend won't empty carts that contain them. Leaves are only picked up in the fall. The rest of the year, bag leaves, grass clippings and lawn rakings for the Organic Drop-off instead of leaving them at the curb or gutter.

Rule 03

Remodeling debris has no home at the city yard

West Bend's Drop-Off Yard doesn't accept building materials, soil, dirt, stone, bricks or gravel, even from permit holders. The city refers residents to a list of local businesses that may take these materials, so plan for disposal before demolition starts.

Rule 04

Overflow trash bags beside the cart stay on the curb

West Bend only collects garbage inside approved city carts, with a limit of two per household. You can take extra garbage to the Drop-Off Yard, but only with a permit sticker. Stickers are good for one calendar year and require proof of residency and vehicle registration.

Rule 05

Household chemicals require a preregistered Clean Sweep visit

Washington County's Clean Sweep runs February through November at a site in Menomonee Falls. You have to preregister and pay a fee for each visit. Residents stay in their cars, show proof of residency and pack materials in the trunk in containers they won't get back.

Rule 06

Storm-downed branches have a size limit at the curb

From April to October, West Bend picks up one 4 x 4 x 4 foot brush pile per property on garbage day, twice a month. Anything bigger has to wait for the next brush week. Piles mixed with leaves, stumps or root balls aren't picked up.

Only what your hauler's bulk rules allow. Curbside rules differ between the City of West Bend and the surrounding Town of West Bend, so confirm with your city or town office first. Items left out that don't qualify can draw a citation or service fee.

LoadUp pricing for junk removal in West Bend starts at $90, and curbside or outdoor pickup takes a flat $5 off. The first item includes the base pickup fee, each additional item is a flat add-on, and the exact total is confirmed before booking. Truckload haulers often charge by volume instead.

Sometimes, depending on Loader availability for your zip code. Enter your address during booking to see open times for your area. Next-day slots are more common than same-day ones, especially on weekends.

Not for curbside pickups. Leave the junk in an easy-to-reach spot outside, such as the driveway, and add access notes when booking. For in-home pickups of heavy or indoor items, someone should be there or you can leave access instructions.

Heavy or oversized items, e-waste, yard waste, and waste oil are commonly excluded from curbside bulk pickup in the West Bend area. Hazardous materials like paint and chemicals generally need a dedicated drop-off. Check your hauler's rules before setting anything out.

Loaders try to keep usable items out of the landfill by donating them whenever possible, and they recycle what they can depending on acceptance at local facilities. Anything that can't be donated or recycled goes to an appropriate disposal facility. Outcomes depend on item condition.

Pick your items and an arrival window online, then see your total before you confirm. On pickup day, your Loader typically calls or texts before arriving, then removes the items from inside your home or from the curb, depending on what you chose.

Pricing model and booking flow. Traditional haulers often price by truckload and may confirm the final price on site. LoadUp prices per item online and confirms your total before booking, which tends to suit smaller jobs. Large cleanouts may favor truckload pricing.
