The Problem

Getting rid of junk in Oshkosh shouldn't take all season

You look up the city's rules, call to ask what qualifies, request a few hauler quotes and wait on callbacks that never come. A week turns into a month, and the junk is still in the garage.

Free city pickup is great, when it works

City bulk pickup programs can work well for the right item at the right time. But you usually have to request a pickup ahead of time, some items aren't accepted, and someone still has to get everything out to the curb. That's hard when the junk is in a basement or up a second-floor stairwell.

Traditional haulers play pricing games

Many haulers want to come out and look before they'll give you a number. Then the price depends on how much of the truck your load seems to fill, so you won't know the real cost until the crew is in your driveway.

Donation centers are picky (rightly)

Thrift stores and charities need things they can resell, so stained upholstery, worn mattresses and broken appliances are often turned away. Even items in good condition may be refused when their shelves are full. You can end up taking the load back home.

Dumpster rental is overkill for one room

A roll-off sits on your driveway or street for days, may need a permit, and has to fit around delivery and pickup windows. Your neighbors watch it fill up, and you still do all the lifting yourself. That's a lot of effort to clear out a single room.

What sets us apart

Your price is locked before pickup day

Most companies charge by truck space, and the price often changes on arrival. LoadUp charges by item, based on exactly what you're removing.

  • Per-item, predictable. First item includes the pickup fee. Every add-on is flat, no truck math, no hourly rates.
  • Locked means locked. The price at booking is what you pay. No adjustments, no surprises.
  • No-obligation quotes. Big job or full cleanout? Text a photo for a guaranteed price first.

Local Disposal Rules

The Oshkosh disposal rules most residents don't know

A curbside mistake can bring a violation notice and an invoice for the city's collection cost. These are the rules that apply to cleanouts in Oshkosh and Winnebago County.

Rule 01

Old carpet must go out in tied rolls under four feet

Oshkosh Sanitation customers can schedule carpet or rugs as a Special Paid Pickup large item. The limit is 15 rolls, tied and no longer than four feet, with each roll under 50 pounds. The service covers residences of four living units or less.

Rule 02

Christmas trees must be dug out of the snow for pickup

Oshkosh collects Christmas trees at the curb for two weeks in January. Trees can't be buried by snow or bagged in plastic, and stands and decorations must come off. Artificial or flocked trees aren't collected, and wreaths with metal frames go in the garbage cart.

Rule 03

Free curb items belong on the house side of the sidewalk

Oshkosh treats anything on the terrace or driveway apron as out for collection. Unscheduled items get a Violation Notice. If they're still there at 5 a.m. the next work day, the City collects them and bills a minimum of $25 plus an administrative charge.

Rule 04

Oshkosh will never collect TVs or other electronics curbside

Wisconsin bans electronics from landfills and incinerators, and Oshkosh Sanitation won't pick them up at any time. Items such as TVs, computer monitors, printers, cell phones, and e-readers and tablets must be reused, recycled, or handled as hazardous waste.

Rule 05

Stumps and big branches are refused by city and county sites

Tree stumps, branches over six inches across, bricks, stones, dirt, and sod aren't accepted at the curb. The City of Oshkosh Yard Waste Drop off Site and the Winnebago County Transfer Station refuse them too. Storm cleanup and landscaping projects need another plan.

Rule 06

Fridges and freezers need their doors removed before city pickup

Refrigerators, freezers, air conditioners, humidifiers, and dehumidifiers go through Oshkosh's Special Paid Pickup as Freon appliances. Remove the doors from refrigerators and freezers. Pickups can't be scheduled by phone or online, and requests are due the business day before collection.

Not without following city rules. Oshkosh requires prepaid special pickup forms for bulk items, with set curb placement windows. Items left out without a scheduled pickup can be treated as illegal dumping. Check with Oshkosh Sanitation for current item charges.

LoadUp pricing for junk removal in Oshkosh starts at $90, and curbside or driveway pickup takes a flat $5 off. The first item includes the base pickup fee, and each additional item is a flat add-on charge. The exact total is confirmed before booking.

Often, depending on route capacity in your area. Next-day slots are more common. Enter your address during booking to see live availability. For curbside pickups you don't need to be home, and your Loader can follow access notes you leave.

Electronics are banned from Wisconsin landfills and incinerators, so TVs, computers, and monitors are not collected curbside in Oshkosh. Bricks, stones, dirt, sod, stumps, and branches over 6 inches thick are also excluded. Those go to the city yard waste site or the Winnebago County Transfer Station.

Loaders aim to keep usable items out of the landfill by donating them when local charities will accept them. Recyclable materials and electronics go to recyclers whenever options allow. Whatever can't be donated or recycled goes to the appropriate disposal facility.

Pick your items online, get an upfront price, and choose a pickup window. Your Loader contacts you before arriving, then removes the items from inside your home, garage, or curb. The price you were quoted is confirmed before booking, not after the truck arrives.

The main difference is pricing and booking. Traditional haulers usually price by truck volume and may confirm the total on site. LoadUp prices per item online, with the total confirmed before booking. For a large cleanout, a truckload hauler can be a better fit.
