The Problem

Getting junk out of Niagara takes more than it should

You look up the rules, call around, and leave messages with a couple of haulers who never ring back. Another week goes by, then a month, and the pile in the garage hasn't moved.

Free city pickup is great, when it works

Municipal pickup schedules can be a real help, but they often have limits on item types, quantities, and timing. Appliances, building debris, and anything hazardous may need special handling, and you still have to drag everything out to the road yourself.

Traditional haulers play pricing games

Many haulers want to come look before they'll give you a number, then they quote by the fraction of a truckload. You don't really know the final cost until the job is done, and in a rural area you may wait days for a visit.

Donation centers are picky (rightly)

Donation centers need items they can actually resell, so stained couches, worn mattresses, and broken furniture often get turned away. Even good pieces have to be loaded up and driven there, which may mean a trip to a neighboring town.

Dumpster rental is overkill for one room

A roll-off container means booking a drop-off window, finding room in the driveway, and maybe checking on local permit rules. Then you do all the lifting yourself, for a box that's usually far bigger than one room of junk needs.

What sets us apart

Your price is locked before pickup day

Most companies charge by truck space, and the price often changes on arrival. LoadUp charges by item, based on exactly what you're removing.

  • Per-item, predictable. First item includes the pickup fee. Every add-on is flat, no truck math, no hourly rates.
  • Locked means locked. The price at booking is what you pay. No adjustments, no surprises.
  • No-obligation quotes. Big job or full cleanout? Text a photo for a guaranteed price first.

Neighborhoods Served

Serving Niagara and the communities along the Menominee River

Hauling an old recliner often means borrowing a neighbor's pickup, losing a Saturday, and driving to a neighboring community to find a place that will take it. You can skip the favor. Your Loaders do the lifting, carrying, and loading, and they like showing up for people here who would rather spend the weekend outdoors.

What Happens to Your Junk

Donation first, recycling second, landfill last

Bulky items don't all end up in the same place, and in a rural spot like Niagara the nearest options can be a few towns away. Your Loader sorts each item by condition, when local options allow.

Local Disposal Rules

The Niagara disposal rules most residents don't know

Burning the wrong debris can bring a DNR citation, and banned items get turned away at the landfill, so here is how disposal works in Niagara and Marinette County.

Rule 01

Burning cleanout debris in a backyard barrel is illegal

Wisconsin DNR prohibits burning household garbage, plastics, painted or treated wood, shingles and demolition materials anywhere in the state. Even clean brush typically needs a DNR burning permit in protection areas whenever the ground is not snow covered.

Rule 02

Oversized items go to transfer stations, including one in Michigan

City garbage collection is automated and only services bagged items placed inside GFL carts; bins and barrels from other sources are skipped. Material too large for the cart can be brought to the GFL transfer stations in Niagara Township or Quinnesec, Michigan.

Rule 03

Refrigerators and air conditioners need refrigerant removed before recycling

Wisconsin bans major appliances such as refrigerators, freezers, air conditioners, washers, dryers and water heaters from landfills. Units holding Freon or other refrigerants must have it recovered by a certified technician before the appliance can be scrapped or recycled.

Rule 04

Hazardous and liquid wastes are turned away at Mar-Oco

The Mar-Oco Landfill accepts only non-hazardous solid waste, refuses liquid waste and gasoline or diesel tanks, and inspects loads at disposal. Marinette and Oconto counties instead hold periodic hazardous waste collection programs to keep toxic materials out.

Rule 05

Old TVs and computer monitors are banned from Wisconsin landfills

Under Wisconsin's E-Cycle law, TVs, computer monitors, desktop and laptop computers, printers and cell phones are banned from landfills and incinerators. The state's E-Cycle Wisconsin program lists registered collection sites where residents can drop these devices for recycling.

Rule 06

Brush and leaves are refused at the county landfill

The Mar-Oco Landfill, jointly owned by Marinette and Oconto counties, lists yard wastes, grass, leaves and branches as unacceptable, matching Wisconsin's statewide yard waste landfill ban. The city also warns that unauthorized dumping has put its site under camera surveillance.

Not safely. I couldn't confirm a city bulk-pickup program for Niagara, so curbside junk isn't a sure thing. Leaving items out without arranging a pickup can bring dumping complaints. Check with Niagara city hall about your hauler and any bulk rules first.

LoadUp pricing for junk removal in Niagara starts at $90 for a single item, and curbside or driveway pickup takes $5 off. The first item includes the base pickup fee, and each additional item is a flat add-on. Your exact total is confirmed before booking.

Same-day and next-day service are often available in Niagara, depending on Loader schedules in your area. Enter your address during booking to see current openings. For curbside items, you generally don't need to be home if you leave access notes.

Yes. The Mar-Oco Landfill in Crivitz lists solid waste at $90 per ton or $3 per bag, with extra charges for tires and for appliances that contain refrigerants. Fees can change, so call before you go. Hauling yourself is cheaper if you have a truck and the time.

Paint, solvents, pesticides and similar products shouldn't go in regular trash or a junk haul. Marinette and Oconto Counties hold a Clean Sweep collection event for household and farm hazardous waste, and it has been free to residents. Check the county site for this year's dates.

Loaders aim to donate usable items to local charities and recycle what they can, depending on acceptance. Items that can't be donated or recycled go to licensed disposal sites. Outcomes vary by item condition and what local facilities will take.

You pick your items and your address online and see an upfront price. Then you choose a time window. On pickup day your Loader arrives, confirms the items, and does the lifting and loading. The price is confirmed before booking, so there is no estimate on the driveway.

The main difference is the pricing model. Traditional haulers like 1-800-GOT-JUNK and Junk King usually price by truckload, often after an estimate. LoadUp prices per item online and confirms the total before booking. A full-truck cleanout can fit a truckload price better.
