The Problem

Getting rid of junk out here takes more than a truck

You look up what the county and your town actually handle, call around for quotes, and wait on callbacks that never come. Meanwhile the junk stays in the shed, and another weekend goes by.

Free city pickup is great, when it works

Free bulk pickup can be a real help, but it varies by town across the county and some places may not offer it at all. Where it exists, you usually have to request it, wait for a set date, and drag everything out yourself.

Traditional haulers play pricing games

Many haulers want to drive out and look before they'll quote, and a long trip down a country road can take a while to book. Then the price depends on how full the truck looks to them, so you won't know the cost until they're done.

Donation centers are picky (rightly)

Thrift stores and charities need items they can resell, so stained couches, broken chairs, and worn-out mattresses often get turned away. You may still have to load and drive what they will take, and that can mean a trip to the next town.

Dumpster rental is overkill for one room

A roll-off sounds simple until you're arranging delivery and pickup windows, finding level ground that won't rut the yard, and loading every heavy piece yourself. For one room or one outbuilding, you end up paying for a lot of empty space.

What sets us apart

Your price is locked before pickup day

Most companies charge by truck space, and the price often changes on arrival. LoadUp charges by item, based on exactly what you're removing.

  • Per-item, predictable. First item includes the pickup fee. Every add-on is flat, no truck math, no hourly rates.
  • Locked means locked. The price at booking is what you pay. No adjustments, no surprises.
  • No-obligation quotes. Big job or full cleanout? Text a photo for a guaranteed price first.

Neighborhoods Served

Serving Southampton County, from the Blackwater to the Nottoway

Out here, a dump run is never quick. Towns sit miles apart on two-lane roads, and a loaded truck bed with an old sofa rattling around in it can eat a whole Saturday. Your Loaders would rather make the drive, lift it from your porch or shed, and haul it off. Folks here have earned an easier weekend.

What Happens to Your Junk

Donation first, recycling second, landfill last

Bulky furniture, worn-out mattresses, and cleanout leftovers all need somewhere to go, and in Southampton County that choice depends on condition. Your Loader sorts each item, and where local options allow, usable things stay out of the landfill.

Local Disposal Rules

The Southampton disposal rules most residents don't know

Take shingles, tires or paint cans to a county refuse site and you'll be turned away, so here are the rules that apply in Southampton and across Southampton County.

Rule 01

Shingles and bricks from renovations are not accepted

County refuse sites don't accept construction debris, including shingles, siding, cement, concrete, blocks, bricks, lumber and plywood. Under county code, the contractor is responsible for removing building materials and must take them to a location approved by state and local authorities.

Rule 02

Mattresses and old appliances count as household trash here

Southampton County code counts refrigerators, stoves, water heaters, bed springs, mattresses and appliances as household garbage and trash, so you can take these bulky items to the county refuse collection sites. The county brochure also lists furniture and televisions as accepted.

Rule 03

Cut storm-downed limbs to under six feet

Summer thunderstorms and tropical systems often bring down branches. County refuse sites accept limbs only if they are less than 6 feet long and less than 6 inches in diameter. Whole trees, stumps and larger limbs are not accepted there.

Rule 04

Curbside recycling ended, but site recycle bins remain

Southampton County stopped curbside recycling on July 1, 2024, under its adopted FY25 budget. Residents can still use the recycle bins at the solid waste convenience center sites, which are now the county's drop-off option for recyclables.

Rule 05

Bring proof of county residency to every refuse site

Only Southampton County residents may use the 16 refuse collection sites. You'll need one of these: a county or town decal on your vehicle, a driver's license listing Southampton County or a town at the bottom, or a temporary pass from the county.

Rule 06

Used motor oil has its own drop-off at Ivor

County refuse collection sites don't accept gasoline, kerosene, oil or other flammable materials. The Ivor Convenience Center, a self-service transfer station listed by SPSA, offers used motor oil drop-off. It is open Wednesday, Friday and Sunday.

Not unless it is part of regular household trash service. Southampton County is rural and has no citywide bulk curbside pickup that I could confirm, so leaving piles roadside can count as illegal dumping. Check with the county before setting anything out.

LoadUp pricing for junk removal in Southampton starts at $85, and curbside or driveway pickup takes $5 off. The first item includes the base pickup fee, and each additional item is a flat add-on charge. The exact total is confirmed before booking.

Often yes. Same-day or next-day pickup is generally offered when you book before noon, though availability depends on your address. Rural spots like Drewryville, Branchville, or Ivor may have different openings, so enter your zip code at booking to see live times.

The county runs convenience centers for residents, including the Boykins Convenience Center, where household waste goes into a compactor or container. Hours, accepted materials, and fees vary by site, so confirm with the county first. Large, bulky, or restricted loads may not be accepted.

Loaders aim to donate usable items and recycle what they can, depending on acceptance by local partners. Items that can't be reused or recycled go to an appropriate disposal facility. Outcomes vary by item condition, so none of this is guaranteed.

You book online, pick your items and time window, and see your price upfront. Your Loader typically calls or texts before arriving. For curbside or driveway pickups you don't need to be home, but for in-home removal someone should be there or leave access instructions.

The main differences are pricing model and booking flow. Traditional haulers often price by truckload and may confirm cost on site. LoadUp prices per item online with the total confirmed before booking. For large cleanouts, a truckload hauler can sometimes be a better fit.

Often yes for items like old furniture, fencing scraps, or equipment parts, but limits apply. Loaders can't take hazardous materials such as pesticides, fuel, or chemicals. Large volumes of timber or land-clearing debris are usually better handled by a specialty hauler.
