When junk piles up, it's one more thing on your list. LoadUp makes it simple to book a quick pickup around Ferrum and see your real price before you commit.
You check what the county will take, call a couple of haulers, and wait on callbacks that never come. A few weekends slip by, and the pile in the shed or spare room is still sitting there.
Ferrum has no town pickup of its own, so most people rely on Franklin County options, which usually means loading everything up and driving it to a drop-off site during set hours. That works if you have a truck, a free afternoon, and a strong back.
Some haulers want to come look before they'll give you a number, which is a lot to ask on a rural road. Then the quote is based on how full the truck might get, so you don't know the real cost until the job's already done.
Thrift stores and charities have to be choosy about what they accept. Anything stained, broken, worn out, or too big for their floor gets turned away, and you still have to haul it there yourself before you find out.
A roll-off container makes sense for a full gut job, not a cluttered basement. You have to plan delivery and pickup, find a level spot on a gravel drive or lawn, and do all the lifting and loading yourself.

Out here, getting rid of an old freezer usually means a winding country road, a borrowed truck, and an afternoon you didn't have to spare. Your Loader carries it out of the barn or farmhouse basement and loads it up instead. Honestly, your Loaders enjoy showing up for Ferrum neighbors, and it's good to be useful.
Out in rural Franklin County, the nearest drop-off point can be a long drive with a loaded truck, so where your items end up matters. Your Loader sorts each load by condition, favoring donation or recycling when local options allow.
Furniture and household goods that are clean and in good shape may be donated when possible and when local options allow. Your Loader sets these aside while loading, so usable pieces get a chance at a second home.
Items that are worn or damaged but still hold usable materials, like metal frames or some appliances, may be recycled where available. Recycling options near Ferrum are limited, so this depends on what's nearby.
Heavily damaged, soiled, or contaminated bulky items, like a water-ruined sofa or a rotted barn pallet stack, are taken for responsible disposal at an appropriate Franklin County area facility, so nothing is left behind.
Bringing the wrong load to the wrong site can get it turned away and sent to the Rocky Mount landfill. These rules apply in Ferrum and across Franklin County.
Manned sites take tires for a small fee, but tire shops and commercial loads must go to the landfill. Fees are set per tire by size, from lawn mowers up to heavy equipment, and rims left on add an extra charge per tire.
Franklin County collects household waste through 10 manned sites and 25 unmanned green box sites. Commercial businesses are not allowed to use them, and manned sites may ask for proof of county residency or tax payment.
Manned sites cannot accept any flowing liquids. Paint cans can go to these sites once the leftover paint is dried up on a media like cat litter or sawdust. That makes half-empty cans from a garage or basement cleanout easy to get rid of.
The county sends all brush debris and large bulk items to the Franklin County Landfill in Rocky Mount. Trailer loads brought to a manned site may be rejected and sent on to the landfill, which takes household, industrial, and yard waste every day.
Franklin County takes cardboard for recycling only at the landfill and the Lakewatch and Scruggs sites. Ferrum residents breaking down moving boxes won't find cardboard recycling at closer drop-off sites, so it makes sense to save flattened boxes for a landfill trip.
Most manned compactor sites have roll-off containers for scrap metal. The county landfill recycles white goods such as stoves, refrigerators, dryers, and dishwashers in-house. Keeping metal out of household trash lets it go into that recycling stream.

Tires cost $4 each for passenger car or light truck sizes at the county landfill, and $3 more per tire if rims are still on. The landfill recycles scrap metal and appliances in-house. It is open Monday to Friday 7:30 am to 4 pm and Saturday 7 am to noon.
Loaders aim to keep usable items out of the landfill. Depending on acceptance, items may go to local donation partners, while recyclables such as scrap metal go to recyclers whenever possible. Whatever cannot be donated or recycled goes to a proper disposal facility.
Pick your items online, choose a time window, and see your total before you confirm. Your Loader arrives in that window, removes the items, and handles loading. You do not need to haul anything to the county drop-off sites yourself.
The pricing model and booking flow differ. Traditional haulers often price by truckload and may confirm the final cost on site. LoadUp prices by item online, with the total confirmed before booking. For a big cleanout, a truckload hauler can be a better fit.
