The Problem

Getting rid of junk in Dooms takes more than a plan

You look up county rules, leave a message or two, and ask a few haulers for quotes. One calls back, one wants to come look first, one never answers. Weeks go by and the junk is still sitting there.

Free city pickup is great, when it works

Dooms doesn't have its own city bulk pickup program, so what you can use depends on your address and what Augusta County or a private trash service offers. Even where a program exists, it often has limits on items, timing, and how you request it, and you still have to get heavy pieces out to the road yourself.

Traditional haulers play pricing games

Lots of haulers want to see the job in person before they give you a number, and then they price by how much of the truck you fill. What a load costs is hard to guess ahead of time, and the final bill can change once everything is on the truck.

Donation centers are picky (rightly)

Donation centers have to be choosy. Stained upholstery, worn mattresses, broken appliances, and anything missing parts usually gets turned away. Most won't come to you either, so you end up hauling it there and sometimes hauling it right back home.

Dumpster rental is overkill for one room

A roll-off dumpster makes sense for a full gut job, not for clearing out a spare room or a cluttered garage. You plan around drop-off and pickup dates, find a level spot that won't tear up your yard or driveway, and still have to lift every heavy item over the side yourself.

What sets us apart

Your price is locked before pickup day

Most companies charge by truck space, and the price often changes on arrival. LoadUp charges by item, based on exactly what you're removing.

  • Per-item, predictable. First item includes the pickup fee. Every add-on is flat, no truck math, no hourly rates.
  • Locked means locked. The price at booking is what you pay. No adjustments, no surprises.
  • No-obligation quotes. Big job or full cleanout? Text a photo for a guaranteed price first.

Neighborhoods Served

Serving Dooms from the South River to the Blue Ridge foothills

Out here, getting rid of a sofa means loading the truck yourself, creeping down a two-lane road behind a tractor, and giving up half a Saturday. Your Loaders would rather carry it down the driveway and load it themselves, because they like showing up for Dooms neighbors and giving that Saturday back.

What Happens to Your Junk

Donation first, recycling second, landfill last

Bulky items like old sofas, dressers, and worn-out appliances are hard to move alone, so where they end up matters in Dooms. Your Loader sorts each item by condition, favoring donation or recycling when local options allow.

Local Disposal Rules

The Dooms disposal rules most residents don't know

If you bring the wrong load to a county convenience site, you'll be turned away and have to make a second trip to the landfill. Here are the rules for Dooms and Augusta County.

Rule 01

Wax-coated cardboard is the one box the bins reject

Augusta County convenience sites take corrugated cardboard and paperboard for recycling, but they don't accept wax-coated boxes. Every site takes recycling except Deerfield, so keep that in mind if you're clearing out a garage full of moving boxes.

Rule 02

Gas cans, waste oil, and batteries stay out of the trash

Augusta County convenience sites don't accept gasoline, kerosene, waste oils, explosives, batteries, or hazardous materials. If you're clearing out a shed, barn, or workshop, sort these out of your household trash before you load up for a drop-off.

Rule 03

Mattresses and bulky furniture can't go to convenience sites

The county's ten convenience sites take only household trash, recycling, and refuse that can be compacted. Mattresses and large furniture must go to the Augusta Regional Landfill or another facility authorized by law. Plan to reach the landfill before its 3:30 pm arrival cutoff.

Rule 04

Loose brush is turned away, but bagged yard waste works

Convenience sites take bagged yard waste but not brush. If you burn limbs instead, Virginia's 4 PM Burning Law bans outdoor burning before 4 pm from February 15 through April 30 when the fire is within 300 feet of woods or dry grass.

Rule 05

Appliances and air conditioners need a trip to the landfill

Augusta County convenience sites don't take appliances, and the county directs residents to bring them to the Augusta Regional Landfill instead. Air conditioners are also banned at the convenience sites, so plan a landfill trip for window units too.

Rule 06

Posts, boards, and remodel scraps need a landfill trip

County convenience sites don't take large amounts of building materials, including large posts and boards, or business and industrial waste. Lumber left from a deck teardown or remodel in Dooms has to go to the landfill or another facility authorized by law.

Not for pickup. Augusta County has no curbside bulk collection for Dooms, so residents haul items themselves to a county convenience site or the Augusta Regional Landfill. Dumping items on roadsides or private land counts as illegal dumping.

LoadUp pricing for junk removal in Dooms starts at $85, and curbside or driveway pickup takes $5 off. The first item includes the base pickup fee, each additional item is a flat add-on charge, and the exact total is confirmed before booking.

Same-day slots are sometimes open when you book early in the day, but availability depends on Loader schedules around Waynesboro and Augusta County. Enter your address during booking to see live options. Next-day is more common for rural spots.

Not for curbside or driveway pickups. Leave the junk out and add access notes when you book. For items inside your home, someone should be present or you can leave entry instructions. Your Loader gives notice before arriving.

County convenience sites don't take appliances, air conditioners, batteries, mattresses, large bulky furniture, or hazardous waste. Those go to the Augusta Regional Landfill, which accepts a wider range of items. Gasoline and similar hazardous materials are refused.

Loaders aim to donate usable items and recycle what they can, depending on what local charities and recyclers accept. Items that can't be reused or recycled go to an appropriate disposal facility, such as the Augusta Regional Landfill, which serves the area.

You pick your items and enter your address online, then see the total price before you confirm. Choose a time window, and your Loader typically contacts you before arrival. They remove the items and handle the loading, so you don't haul anything.

Sometimes. Taking a load to a county convenience site is low cost for household trash, and the landfill has fee-free periods during the annual spring cleanup. But it takes a truck, time, and lifting. Hired removal makes more sense for heavy or bulky loads.
