The Problem

Richmond has junk options, just not easy ones

You call the city, wait on a callback, then try a few haulers. One wants to come look first, another never replies. Two weekends later, the junk is still sitting in the garage.

Free city pickup is great, when it works

City bulk pickup programs work well if your timing lines up. Requests usually need to go in ahead of time, items have to be hauled to the curb by you, and many programs turn away appliances, renovation debris, or anything hazardous. Homes outside city limits may not qualify.

Traditional haulers play pricing games

Many haulers want to see the job in person before quoting, which means another appointment on your calendar. Then comes truckload math, where the final number depends on how full the truck looks after everything is loaded. You rarely know what you owe until the work is done.

Donation centers are picky (rightly)

Many donation centers need items they can pass along, so stained upholstery, worn mattresses, and broken appliances often get turned away. Most also expect you to load, transport, and unload everything yourself, and whatever they decline ends up back in your driveway.

Dumpster rental is overkill for one room

A roll-off makes sense for a gut renovation, not a single cleared-out room. You still schedule delivery and pickup, may need street or HOA approval to place it, and might watch neighbors' bags appear inside. And every item still gets lifted in by you.

What sets us apart

Your price is locked before pickup day

Most companies charge by truck space, and the price often changes on arrival. LoadUp charges by item, based on exactly what you're removing.

  • Per-item, predictable. First item includes the pickup fee. Every add-on is flat, no truck math, no hourly rates.
  • Locked means locked. The price at booking is what you pay. No adjustments, no surprises.
  • No-obligation quotes. Big job or full cleanout? Text a photo for a guaranteed price first.

Neighborhoods Served

Serving Richmond, from the Brazos bottoms to the Grand Parkway

Hauling a water-damaged recliner to the dump is bad enough without a freight train stopping you at the tracks, and in Richmond, that train always seems to arrive right when you're running late. Your Loaders lift, carry, and load it while you stay put. Showing up for Richmond neighbors is the best part of our day.

What Happens to Your Junk

Donation first, recycling second, landfill last

Big, bulky items rarely belong in one place once they leave your property, which is why disposal routing matters for Richmond junk removal. Your Loader sorts each item by condition, favoring donation or recycling when local options allow.

Gently Used

Donation Pickup

Furniture and household goods that are clean and in good shape may be donated when possible and when local options allow. Your Loader sets those items aside during loading so they can take that path.

  • Tax-deductible receipt by request
  • Diverts waste from landfill
  • Free up your space and help a neighbor

Items that are worn or damaged but not fit for donation may be recycled where available, such as metal frames or appliance parts. Your Loader separates them from the rest of the load.

Local Disposal Rules

The Richmond disposal rules most residents don't know

Put the wrong item out in Richmond and it stays at the curb uncollected. These rules cover city collection and Fort Bend County drop-off options for residents.

Rule 01

Roofing materials and concrete are banned from curbside trash

Richmond's collection excludes construction debris, concrete, bricks, rocks, dirt and roofing materials, along with fence pickets with nails. The city's guidance for construction debris is disposal at a local landfill for a fee, which matters after hail or wind damage repairs.

Rule 02

Refrigerant appliances need a professional certification tag first

Any appliance containing refrigerant or Freon must be certified and tagged by a professional as refrigerant-free before Richmond's curbside collection will take it. Refrigerators and freezers also need their doors removed. Untagged units can go to the Fort Bend County Recycling Center for a fee.

Rule 03

Household chemicals and paint have a yearly gallon threshold

Richmond's trash service will not take paint, motor oil, lead batteries or gasoline. The county recycling center accepts household hazardous waste and latex paint, but tracks amounts on a calendar year basis, with a higher per-gallon charge after 14 gallons.

Rule 04

Storm-downed limbs must be cut into four-foot bundles

Richmond's Wednesday yard waste collection takes 8 or fewer bags or bundles, each under 50 pounds, with limbs no thicker than 3 inches and bundled in 4-foot lengths. Stumps and logs over 50 pounds and longer than 4 feet are excluded.

Rule 05

County electronics fees scale with TV and monitor size

The Fort Bend County Recycling Center charges for TVs and computer monitors in tiers by screen size, with separate rates for small and large electronics split at five pounds. It serves residential users only; business, commercial and agricultural waste is not accepted.

Rule 06

Wednesday heavy trash pickup stops at five cubic yards

Richmond collects heavy trash and appliances such as washing machines, dryers and hot water heaters every Wednesday, up to 5 cubic yards per account per collection day, so a larger cleanout may span several Wednesdays. Some unusually heavy items are not collected curbside.

Not beyond your regular carts. Richmond's curbside service is twice weekly with GFL, and carts must be out by 7 a.m. Items left outside the cart without an arranged pickup can be treated as illegal dumping, so ask the city's sanitation department about large items.

LoadUp pricing for junk removal in Richmond starts at $75 for a single item, and curbside or driveway pickup takes $5 off. The first item includes the base pickup fee, each additional item is a flat add-on, and the exact total is confirmed before booking.

Same-day slots are sometimes available, but it depends on Loader schedules in the Richmond area that day. Enter your address during booking to see live availability. For curbside pickups you don't need to be home, and indoor jobs need access instructions or someone present.

GFL won't collect construction debris, concrete, dirt, tires, paint, motor oil, gasoline, lead batteries, or hazardous chemicals. Fort Bend County Recycling Center takes some of these for a fee, and you can call 281-633-7581 for hours and accepted materials.

Loaders aim to donate usable items and recycle what they can, depending on acceptance at local facilities. Items that can't be donated or recycled go to an appropriate disposal site. Donation and recycling aren't guaranteed for every item, but landfill is the last option.

You choose your items and a time window online, and the price is shown before you confirm. A Loader arrives in that window, hauls the items away, and handles disposal. Whether you need to be home depends on where the items are, such as curbside or inside.

The main difference is the pricing model. Truck-based haulers often quote by the load and may confirm the price on site. LoadUp prices per item online, so the total is set before booking. For a full property cleanout, a truckload hauler can be the better fit.
