The Problem

Fort Worth has junk options. Few of them actually work.

You check the city's bulk schedule, call a couple of haulers, wait on callbacks that never come, and price out a truck rental. Two weekends later, the junk is still sitting in the garage.

Free city pickup is great, when it works

The city's bulk program covers a lot, but it runs on a set schedule, so your junk waits for your week. Some items need special handling or aren't accepted, apartment residents often aren't covered, and you still drag everything to the curb yourself.

Traditional haulers play pricing games

Many haulers want to see the job in person before quoting, then price by fractions of a truck you can't measure yourself. The number on the phone and the number at your door don't always match, and you often find out once the truck is loaded.

Donation centers are picky (rightly)

Thrift stores and charities have limited floor space, so they turn away stained upholstery, worn mattresses, and anything with missing parts. Even when something qualifies, you're loading it, driving it across town, and maybe hauling it home again.

Dumpster rental is overkill for one room

A roll-off can sit in your driveway for days, crowd the sidewalk or a narrow street, and may need a permit if it lands in the right-of-way. Neighbors quietly add their own junk, and you're still lifting every piece over a high steel wall.

What sets us apart

Your price is locked before pickup day

Most companies charge by truck space, and the price often changes on arrival. LoadUp charges by item, based on exactly what you're removing.

  • Per-item, predictable. First item includes the pickup fee. Every add-on is flat, no truck math, no hourly rates.
  • Locked means locked. The price at booking is what you pay. No adjustments, no surprises.
  • No-obligation quotes. Big job or full cleanout? Text a photo for a guaranteed price first.

Donation first, recycling second, landfill last

Local Disposal Rules

The Fort Worth disposal rules most residents don't know

A bulk pile set out the wrong week or holding banned items gets billed as out-of-cycle or non-compliant. Here is what applies in Fort Worth, Tarrant County.

Rule 01

Refrigerators and air conditioners are banned from curbside bulk piles

Appliances containing coolant, gasoline, or other chemicals, including refrigerators, air conditioners, and lawnmowers, cannot go in the monthly bulk pile. The city's Drop-Off Stations accept appliances with or without coolant, giving residents a free route for these items.

Rule 02

Rental property cleanouts are routed to the Southeast Landfill

The city's Drop-Off Stations serve Fort Worth homeowners and some renters, but landlord-based waste from Fort Worth rental properties is not accepted there. It goes to the Southeast Landfill, which charges a minimum one-ton rate or a per-ton fee for larger loads.

Rule 03

Paper yard bags keep trimmings headed for mulch, not landfill

Fort Worth collects yard trimmings separately so they can be turned into mulch instead of landfilled. Use paper yard bags up to 40 pounds each, roll the tops closed without staples or tape, and set out as many bags as you need.

Rule 04

Popcorn ceilings and asbestos flooring need a separate disposal route

Fort Worth's Drop-Off Stations turn away material containing asbestos, including flooring, ceiling tiles, and popcorn style ceilings. The Environmental Collection Center does not accept asbestos either, so scraping an older ceiling means planning disposal before the work starts.

Rule 05

Pool chemicals and leftover paint go to Drop-Off Stations free

All Fort Worth Drop-Off Stations accept household chemicals, including automotive fluids, batteries, home and bathroom cleaners, lawn and garden products, pool chemicals, and paint. Unincorporated Tarrant County residents can use the Environmental Collection Center with a county voucher.

Rule 06

Monthly bulk piles have a strict weekend set-out window

Bulk waste goes out no earlier than 6 p.m. the Friday before your assigned week and by 7 a.m. Monday. One pile per household, up to 10 cubic yards, costs nothing extra; wrong-week or oversized piles carry an extra charge.

Only during your assigned monthly bulk week. Piles must be out by 7 a.m. on the Monday of that week, and each household gets one pile of up to 10 cubic yards at no extra charge. Larger piles carry an extra fee.

LoadUp pricing for junk removal in Fort Worth starts at $75, and curbside or driveway pickup takes $5 off. The first item includes the base pickup fee, each additional item is a flat add-on, and the exact total is confirmed before booking.

Often, depending on the schedule in your area. Enter your zip code during booking to see live same-day and next-day availability. For curbside pickups you don't need to be home. For indoor pickups, someone should be there or leave access instructions.

Bulk collection covers large household items that don't fit in your brown cart, not household chemicals. Fort Worth directs chemicals and similar items to its Drop-Off Stations, which are open to residents with an active city solid waste account.

Yes, if you have an active city solid waste account on your water bill. Stations are open Tuesday to Friday 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Saturday 8 a.m. to noon, and closed Sunday, Monday and city holidays. Non-residents can't use them.

Loaders aim to donate usable items to local charities and recycle what they can, depending on acceptance. Whatever can't be reused or recycled goes to licensed disposal sites. Outcomes vary by item and condition, so nothing is guaranteed.

You select your items and get a price online, or text a photo. You then choose a time window and confirm the total before anyone arrives. On pickup day your Loader gives notice before arriving, then removes and hauls the items away.

The pricing model. Truck-based haulers like 1-800-GOT-JUNK, Junk King and College Hunks usually price by how much space your load fills in the truck, often confirmed on site. LoadUp prices per item online and confirms the total upfront. Large full-property cleanouts may suit a truckload hauler better.
