The Problem

Getting rid of junk in Cleveland shouldn't take a month

You search online, call the city, wait on hold, then leave messages for a few haulers. One calls back, another never does. Weeks go by, and the junk is still sitting in the garage.

Free city pickup is great, when it works

City bulk pickup programs can handle the basics, but they come with limits. You usually have to request a pickup, wait for a spot on the municipal schedule, and drag everything to the curb yourself. Some items get turned down, and the timing rarely fits a move-out deadline.

Traditional haulers play pricing games

Lots of haulers won't give you a real number until someone comes out to look. Then the price is based on how much of the truck your load fills, which is hard to guess ahead of time. You find out what it costs once the job is done.

Donation centers are picky (rightly)

Thrift stores and charities need things they can resell, so a stained mattress or a recliner with a broken lever often gets turned away. You still have to load it, drive it there, and haul home whatever they don't take.

Dumpster rental is overkill for one room

A roll-off container means booking a delivery window, finding room on the driveway, and maybe checking whether you need a permit. Then it sits out for days while neighbors toss in their own junk, all for a job that would fill a fraction of it.

What sets us apart

Your price is locked before pickup day

Most companies charge by truck space, and the price often changes on arrival. LoadUp charges by item, based on exactly what you're removing.

  • Per-item, predictable. First item includes the pickup fee. Every add-on is flat, no truck math, no hourly rates.
  • Locked means locked. The price at booking is what you pay. No adjustments, no surprises.
  • No-obligation quotes. Big job or full cleanout? Text a photo for a guaranteed price first.

Neighborhoods Served

Serving Cleveland, on both sides of I-75

Anyone who has tried to wrestle a sleeper sofa into a pickup bed during move-out season near Lee University knows how a quick landfill run turns into a whole Saturday. Your Loaders lift it, carry it out, and haul it off while you stay put. Showing up for Cleveland neighbors is the part they like best.

What Happens to Your Junk

Donation first, recycling second, landfill last

Big, bulky items are hard to move alone, and where they end up matters as much as getting them out. In Cleveland, your Loader sorts each item by condition, favoring reuse when local options allow.

Gently Used

Donation Pickup

Furniture, appliances, and household goods in good, clean condition may be set aside for donation when local options allow. Your Loader handles the lifting, but you should not expect a receipt from the pickup.

  • Tax-deductible receipt by request
  • Diverts waste from landfill
  • Free up your space and help a neighbor

Visible Wear

Recycling

Items that are worn or damaged but still have reusable parts, like metal frames or scrap appliances, may be recycled where available. Availability varies, so recycling is a goal when possible, not a promise.

  • Materials sorted and recovered
  • Diverted from landfill where possible
  • Compliant with local waste regs

Heavily Damaged

Responsible Disposal

Heavily damaged or soiled bulky items, like waterlogged couches or broken mattresses, are loaded by your Loader and taken for responsible disposal at an approved local facility, so nothing is left behind.

  • No logistics or transport to handle
  • No sorting or drop-off required on your end
  • Local disposal fees covered

Local Disposal Rules

The Cleveland disposal rules most residents don't know

A pile that breaks one rule, or sits where equipment could damage property, can be left uncollected, so these are the rules that apply in Cleveland and Bradley County.

Rule 01

Whole tires cannot go into any Tennessee landfill

State law bans whole, unshredded tires from landfills, and Cleveland Public Works will not take tires from the curb. Every Tennessee county must offer a waste tire collection site, and in Bradley County the county landfill recycles tires for a fee.

Rule 02

Loose leaves get vacuumed only during the city's leaf season

Cleveland vacuums leaves from October 30 through January 31. Keep them out of ditches and storm drains, where they can cause flooding. Off season, bag leaves and grass in clear plastic, because dark bags get mistaken for household garbage, which Public Works does not collect.

Rule 03

City dump trucks can be borrowed free for big cleanouts

Cleveland Public Works lends residents a dump truck overnight or for a weekend to fill with bulk rubbish at no charge. You can use it once a month, and it is not offered during leaf season. Loading tires or hazardous materials can cost you access.

Rule 04

Remodeling debris is excluded from Cleveland curbside collection

Public Works will not pick up demolition debris, concrete, block, dirt, or shingles from the curb. Demolition debris is also banned from the city's loaner dump trucks, so renovation waste needs a separate disposal plan.

Rule 05

Paint and chemicals go to a yearly collection day

Curbside pickup refuses paint, motor oil, and similar hazards. Instead, the Cleveland and Bradley County stormwater programs co-host an annual Household Hazardous Waste Collection Day that takes items like pool chemicals and fluorescent tubes. It is open to households only, not contractors or businesses.

Rule 06

Brush piles have strict size limits, and stumps stay put

Cleveland collects one trailer load of brush per resident each week, and anything extra waits until the next route day. Limbs over 24 inches across are refused, pieces 15 to 24 inches can be no longer than 2 feet, and stumps and trunks are not collected.

Only some of it. Cleveland Public Works collects brush and bulk debris if it is placed curbside the evening before your route day and no later than 7 a.m. that day. It does not pick up regular household garbage, demolition debris, or debris from lot clearing.

LoadUp pricing for junk removal in Cleveland starts at $80, and curbside or driveway pickup takes a flat $5 off. The first item includes the base pickup fee, and each additional item is a flat add-on charge. The exact total is confirmed before booking.

Same-day pickup is sometimes possible, depending on Loader availability near Cleveland that day. Enter your address during booking to see live openings. For curbside pickups you usually don't need to be home. For in-home pickups, someone should be there or leave access notes.

Cleveland Public Works won't take demolition debris, lot-clearing debris, or bagged household garbage. Brush is limited to one trailer load per resident per week, and stumps and trunks are excluded. Large cleanouts with those materials usually need a private hauler or a rented dump truck.

Often yes. Tennessee runs free mobile household hazardous waste collection events, and one has been held at the Bradley County Justice Center on Blythe Ave. Cleaners, pesticides, and pool chemicals qualify. Call 800-287-9013 for current dates. Loaders can't haul hazardous materials.

Loaders aim to keep usable items out of the landfill. Whenever possible, items in good shape are donated to local charities, and recyclable materials go to recyclers, depending on acceptance. Items that can't be donated or recycled are taken to an appropriate disposal facility.

The main difference is pricing and booking. College HUNKS prices by the truck space your items need and offers a free estimate. LoadUp prices per item online, with the total confirmed before booking. A full-truck cleanout may suit a truckload hauler better.
