The Problem

Getting rid of junk in Baltic takes more than it should

You look up drop-off rules, call around about pickup dates, and ask a couple of haulers for quotes. One calls back, one never does. A month later, the pile is still sitting in the garage.

Free city pickup is great, when it works

Municipal pickup schedules can be a good deal if your timing and your items both fit. Many limit how much you can set out and turn away appliances, electronics, or construction debris. You also have to drag everything out yourself and then wait for the next pickup date.

Traditional haulers play pricing games

A lot of haulers want to see the load in person before they'll quote it, and then they price it by how much of the truck it fills. You find out the real cost after they start loading, and that's too late to shop around.

Donation centers are picky (rightly)

Thrift stores and charities usually turn down anything stained, broken, or worn out, and many skip bulky pieces altogether. That covers about half of what's in a typical shed. You also still have to load it, drive it there, and bring home whatever they refuse.

Dumpster rental is overkill for one room

A dumpster takes up your driveway for days, and you may need to check local rules before it's dropped off. You still carry every item out on your own. For one room or a single garage corner, that's a lot of hassle and a lot of empty container.

What sets us apart

Your price is locked before pickup day

Most companies charge by truck space, and the price often changes on arrival. LoadUp charges by item, based on exactly what you're removing.

  • Per-item, predictable. First item includes the pickup fee. Every add-on is flat, no truck math, no hourly rates.
  • Locked means locked. The price at booking is what you pay. No adjustments, no surprises.
  • No-obligation quotes. Big job or full cleanout? Text a photo for a guaranteed price first.

Neighborhoods Served

Serving Baltic and the Big Sioux River towns around it

Living in Baltic often means a workday commute toward Sioux Falls, and nobody wants to end it by strapping a busted sectional to a trailer. Your Loader lifts it out of the garage, carries it, and loads it up. Showing up for the neighbors who keep this town home is the part your Loaders enjoy most.

What Happens to Your Junk

Donation first, recycling second, landfill last

Bulky items are hard to move alone, and where they end up matters as much as getting them out of your Baltic garage. Your Loader sorts each load by condition, favoring donation or recycling when local options allow.

Local Disposal Rules

The Baltic disposal rules most residents don't know

If a trash load includes banned materials, the regional landfill can turn it away and you'll have to make extra trips. These are the rules for cleanouts in Baltic and Minnehaha County.

Rule 01

Moving boxes are on the landfill's banned list

The Sioux Falls Regional Landfill bans corrugated cardboard and chip board. It also bans office paper, newspaper, magazines and bulk-rate mail. Breaking down boxes and recycling them keeps banned material out of a moving or basement cleanout load.

Rule 02

Mini-fridges and space heaters do not count as electronics

The free regional electronics program does not take mini-refrigerators, space heaters, dehumidifiers, vacuums, coffee makers or treadmills. Its rule of thumb: electronics are for entertainment or communication. Appliances are for food preparation, personal hygiene, cleaning or home maintenance.

Rule 03

Tearing down a structure requires a Baltic raze permit first

Baltic's building code requires a permit to raze or remove a building. Demolition can't start until you also have a permit for capping the sanitary sewer or water service. Get both permits before the teardown starts.

Rule 04

Storm-downed branches and logs cannot go in with household trash

The Sioux Falls Regional Landfill serves Minnehaha County. It bans yard waste and wood waste such as tree branches and logs. Limbs from a spring thunderstorm or an ice-damaged tree have to be kept separate from household garbage.

Rule 05

Televisions and computers are banned from the regional landfill

A Sioux Falls ordinance has kept electronics out of the regional landfill since 2004 because they can contain heavy metals such as lead and cadmium. Minnehaha County residents can recycle televisions, computers and microwaves for free at the Sioux Falls Household Hazardous Waste Facility.

Rule 06

Farm and business waste is excluded from the free drop-off

The free Sioux Falls Household Hazardous Waste Facility is only for individual residents of Lake, Lincoln, McCook, Minnehaha and Turner counties. It does not take waste from farms, businesses, churches, schools or nonprofits. That matters when clearing out a farmstead near Baltic.

Not unless your hauler or the city has specifically approved it. Items left out without a scheduled pickup can be treated as illegal dumping. Check with Baltic City Hall about bulk item rules and whether your trash service takes oversized items.

LoadUp pricing for junk removal in Baltic starts at $85, and pickup from the curb or driveway takes $5 off. The first item includes the base pickup fee, each additional item is a flat add-on charge, and the exact total is confirmed before booking.

Sometimes. Availability depends on Loader schedules in the Sioux Falls area and on the time you book. Enter your address during booking to see open times. For curbside pickups you usually don't need to be home, and in-home jobs need access arranged.

Hazardous items like paint, chemicals, batteries and motor oil generally can't go in household trash anywhere in South Dakota. Large or restricted items may also be refused by your trash hauler. Ask Baltic City Hall or Minnehaha County about drop-off options for these.

Loaders try to keep usable items out of the landfill. Depending on acceptance, they aim to take good items to donation partners and recyclable materials to recyclers. Anything that can't be donated or recycled goes to an appropriate disposal facility.

You pick your items and enter your Baltic address online, then choose a pickup window and see your price upfront. A Loader arrives in that window, confirms the items, and hauls them away. You pay the price you were quoted.

Sometimes. If you have a truck, a small load and free time, a self-haul trip to a Sioux Falls-area disposal site can cost less in cash. You pay for gas, disposal fees and your own labor, so hiring a pro makes sense for heavy or bulky loads.

The main difference is the pricing model. Traditional haulers like 1-800-GOT-JUNK and Junk King generally price by truck space and often confirm on site. LoadUp prices per item online, with the total confirmed before booking.
