Wildfire is a real risk near the Rio Grande bosque. The Valencia Landfill and Recycle Facility accepts burned vegetative and structural debris only from structures built after 1988, and you must show proof of the structure's age.
To self-haul to the Village of Los Lunas Transfer Station, you must pay for village utility services and show a valid New Mexico driver license. Commercial solid waste deliveries are banned. Tome residents fall under the county, so they use the Conejo Transfer Station.
Valencia County says roadside recycling is still being developed for county customers. Until it starts, households that already sort recyclables out of a cleanout can drop them at the Conejo Transfer Station for free, which keeps that volume out of the trash cart.
