The Town may refuse to collect leaves mixed with limbs, brick, rock or similar materials. Bagged leaves and grass are collected weekly. Loose leaves are collected at select times from October 1 to December 31 and from March 15 to April 15.
Spencer's ordinance says the Town will not collect building materials, waste from building work or waste from landscaping contract jobs. Rowan County sends construction materials and commercial quantities to its landfill, not to the convenience centers meant for everyday household use.
Rowan County accepts whole tires only at the county landfill, not at its convenience centers. The limit is five per visit, and you need approval in advance. Tires still on rims, or large quantities, may cost extra in processing fees.
