The Problem

Getting junk off your property shouldn't take all season

You look up the county's rules, call around for quotes, and wait on haulers who never call back. Weeks go by, and the junk is still sitting in the garage, right where you left it.

Free city pickup is great, when it works

Municipal pickup schedules can help with the occasional bulky item, but they usually limit what goes out, when it goes out, and how much. You'll still have to drag everything to the curb yourself, and some materials won't qualify at all.

Traditional haulers play pricing games

Some haulers want to walk your property before giving a number. Others quote by the fraction of a truck, which is hard to picture until the loading is done. You may not know your real total until the job is already underway.

Donation centers are picky (rightly)

Donation centers want items in good, resellable shape, and that makes sense. Stained upholstery, worn mattresses, and broken outdoor gear often get turned away, so you're left with whatever they couldn't use plus another trip to figure out the rest.

Dumpster rental is overkill for one room

A dumpster can sit on your driveway for days while you do all the lifting. You'll need to plan around delivery and pickup windows, check any HOA or placement rules, and live with a big steel box out front for one cleanout.

What sets us apart

Your price is locked before pickup day

Most companies charge by truck space, and the price often changes on arrival. LoadUp charges by item, based on exactly what you're removing.

  • Per-item, predictable. First item includes the pickup fee. Every add-on is flat, no truck math, no hourly rates.
  • Locked means locked. The price at booking is what you pay. No adjustments, no surprises.
  • No-obligation quotes. Big job or full cleanout? Text a photo for a guaranteed price first.

Pickup Options

Set it by the driveway or leave it where it sits

On spacious Marvin properties, the walk from a back patio to the street can be a long one, so curbside makes sense for items you have already moved to the driveway, like a taken-apart play set or bagged renovation scraps. Choose full-service when a sectional is still in a finished basement and you would rather your Loaders carry it out from where it sits.

Neighborhoods Served

Serving Marvin, from Providence Road to Highway 521

Marvin runs on quiet roads and long driveways, which is lovely until you are the one shuttling a sofa or a pile of fence panels down them in a borrowed truck bed. Your Loader carries it out from the garage, the barn, or the backyard and loads it, because your neighbors here deserve their weekends back.

What Happens to Your Junk

Donation first, recycling second, landfill last

Marvin properties tend to generate bulky, awkward loads, from old sofas to garage clear-outs. Your Loader sorts each item by condition, so usable pieces have a chance at a second life and the rest is handled responsibly.

Local Disposal Rules

The Marvin disposal rules most residents don't know

Putting a television in the trash or scrapping a fridge without removing its refrigerant breaks North Carolina rules. These are the rules that apply in Marvin and Union County.

Rule 01

Refrigerators and other Freon appliances need refrigerant removed first

North Carolina bans white goods such as refrigerators, freezers, washers, and water heaters from landfills. Under federal rules, a certified technician must recover the refrigerant from these appliances before they are scrapped, which keeps ozone-depleting chemicals out of the air.

Rule 02

Glass stays out of Marvin's curbside carts

The Village of Marvin does not accept glass in its curbside collection, so bottles and jars cannot go in the Village carts. Glass cleared out of a kitchen, bar, or garage needs a separate drop-off outside the Village service.

Rule 03

Burning brush is off limits on poor air quality days

North Carolina allows only limited burning of yard debris on the property where it grew, and never household trash, tires, or building materials. Union County is in the Charlotte-area air quality forecast zone, where state rules ban open burning on Code Orange or worse days.

Rule 04

Newly built homes must ask the Village to start trash service

Carts are not issued automatically when a newly built Marvin home closes. Owners must contact the Village to start service under its contract with Active Waste Solutions. The Village chose that contract partly to protect Village roads and set standard collection days.

Rule 05

Televisions and computer equipment are banned from North Carolina landfills

Since 2011, North Carolina law has banned televisions and computer equipment from landfills, so old TVs, computer monitors, and similar devices cannot go out with Marvin household trash. They have to go to an electronics recycling program instead.

Rule 06

Marvin holds bulk drop-off days just twice a year

Marvin and Active Waste Solutions hold Spring and Fall Bulk Drop-Off events at Marvin Village Hall. In 2026 they fall on Saturday, April 18 and Saturday, October 17, from 9 a.m. to noon, and are open to Marvin residents only.

Not outside regular service. Marvin's weekly collection through Active Waste Solutions covers bagged household trash and recycling in the village bins, with up to five yard waste bags per household. Extra items left out are not part of that service.

Yes. The Village and Active Waste Solutions hold Bulk Day for residents twice a year, with the next events on Saturday, April 18 and Saturday, October 17, 2026. They run 9am to noon at Marvin Village Hall, 10006 Marvin School Road.

LoadUp pricing for junk removal in Marvin starts at $75, and curbside or driveway pickup takes $5 off. The first item includes the base pickup fee and each additional item is a flat add-on, with the exact total confirmed before booking.

Same-day slots are sometimes open, depending on your address and the day's schedule. Enter your address during booking to see live availability. For curbside pickups you don't need to be home. For in-home pickups, someone should be there or you can leave access notes.

Union County's Trash Pass lets residents drop limited household garbage at county convenience centers for free. The limit is up to 10 standard bags or five larger bags per day, and you pay only for the excess. Furniture, renovation debris, and large piles usually exceed that allowance.

Loaders sort items and try to donate usable ones to local charities. They recycle what they can, depending on acceptance. Anything that can't be donated or recycled goes to a proper disposal facility, and outcomes vary by item and condition.

The main difference is the pricing model and booking flow. Many traditional haulers price by truckload and confirm the price on site. LoadUp prices per item online and confirms the total before booking. For a few items that can cost less, but a full truckload job may suit a hauler better.
