The Problem

Westport has junk options. None fit quite right.

You check the town's rules, call a couple of haulers, wait on callbacks that never come, and price out a weekend of hauling yourself. Meanwhile the pile in the barn or garage sits another month.

Free city pickup is great, when it works

Municipal pickup schedules can work when your item qualifies and the timing lines up. Programs often limit what they accept, may require advance requests, and still expect you to get everything to the roadside yourself, which is no small trip from a house set back on a rural lot.

Traditional haulers play pricing games

Plenty of haulers want to see the job in person before quoting, then price by the truckload with a fuzzy idea of what counts as a full load. For a seasonal home near Westport Point, waiting on a site visit can eat up the few days you're actually there.

Donation centers are picky (rightly)

Donation centers need items they can resell, so stained upholstery, worn mattresses, and broken furniture often get turned away. Most won't send anyone to load from a cluttered barn or outbuilding either, leaving you to sort, transport, and haul back whatever they decline.

Dumpster rental is overkill for one room

A roll-off container means booking delivery and pickup dates, possibly checking on a permit, and finding level ground it won't damage. On a narrow private lane in Acoaxet, it can block neighbors for days, and you still do all the lifting yourself.

What sets us apart

Your price is locked before pickup day

Most companies charge by truck space, and the price often changes on arrival. LoadUp charges by item, based on exactly what you're removing.

  • Per-item, predictable. First item includes the pickup fee. Every add-on is flat, no truck math, no hourly rates.
  • Locked means locked. The price at booking is what you pay. No adjustments, no surprises.
  • No-obligation quotes. Big job or full cleanout? Text a photo for a guaranteed price first.

Neighborhoods Served

Serving Westport, on both sides of the Westport River

Westport is spread out, and anyone who has loaded a truck bed with barn clutter and crawled along Route 6 behind summer beach traffic knows a dump run can swallow a whole Saturday. Your Loaders would rather do the lifting. They like showing up for the neighbors who keep this town's farms, shores, and roads going.

What Happens to Your Junk

Donation first, recycling second, landfill last

Farm-style lots and seasonal homes in Westport tend to produce bulky items that are hard to move alone. Your Loader sorts each item by condition, favoring donation or recycling when local options allow, and disposal for the rest.

The Westport disposal rules most residents don't know

Arriving without a vehicle sticker or with banned items can mean being turned away or paying trash rates, so here is what applies in Westport, Bristol County.

Rule 01

Storm-downed branches aren't accepted at the yard waste drop-off

Westport's yard waste drop-off at the Transfer Station takes only leaves and grass, loose or in paper bags. Plastic bags are refused, and brush and tree limbs are excluded, so limbs brought down by coastal storms need a different disposal plan.

Rule 02

Paint cans are refused even when empty or dried out

Because of contamination problems, Westport's Transfer Station no longer accepts paint cans of any kind, whether liquid, empty or dried up, and small pressurized containers are also refused. The town directs household hazardous waste to the NEDT facility in Sutton.

Rule 03

Soaked or frozen mattresses lose their recycling eligibility

Westport's Transfer Station recycles mattresses and box springs in acceptable condition, but wet, frozen, soiled, moldy, bug-infested, torn or crushed ones are treated as trash at a much higher fee. Futons and fold-out sofa beds never qualify.

Rule 04

No single-stream bin, so sort recyclables before you arrive

Recycling is mandatory at Westport's Transfer Station, and there is no single-stream container. Recyclables are accepted free of charge, unless otherwise posted, when cleaned and placed in the labeled area for each category, so separating them at home shortens the visit.

Rule 05

Worn-out towels and curtains are banned from the trash

Since November 1, 2022, Massachusetts bans textiles from disposal, including bedding, curtains, towels and tablecloths, not just clothing. The two clothing bins at Westport's Transfer Station take ripped or stained items too, as long as they are clean and dry.

Rule 06

Construction debris drop-offs depend on open container space

Westport asks residents bringing construction debris or bulky items to call ahead and confirm the container is not full. Furniture, rugs and other bulky items are charged by the town fee schedule and the attendant's assessment. The facility closes Tuesdays, Wednesdays and holidays.

Generally no. Westport residents mainly use the town Transfer Station at 816 Main Road, which requires a vehicle sticker valid July 1 through June 30. It's open Thursday through Monday, 8:30am to 3:00pm, and closed Tuesday and Wednesday.

LoadUp pricing for junk removal in Westport starts at $105, and curbside or driveway pickup takes a flat $5 off. The first item includes the base pickup fee, each additional item is a flat add-on, and the exact total is confirmed before booking.

Same-day slots are sometimes available depending on Loader schedules around Westport, Central Village and Head of Westport. Enter your address during booking to see live availability. Curbside pickups don't require you to be home, while in-home pickups need access.

Since November 1, 2022, the Transfer Station bans textiles and mattresses or box springs from the trash. Mattress recycling is $25 per item, or $75 if the mattress isn't recyclable. Textiles can be recycled in any condition.

Loaders sort items by condition and aim to donate usable pieces and recycle what they can, depending on acceptance. Items that can't be reused or recycled go to responsible disposal, following Massachusetts restrictions and Westport town rules.

The annual sticker costs $50 for residents under 65 and $40 for those 65 and over, valid July 1 through June 30. The sticker is the cheapest option if you can haul your own junk in your own vehicle and sort recycling yourself.

Choose your item, enter your Westport address, and see your price before booking. Pick a time window, and a Loader will arrive to carry out and load your junk. Choose curbside to save $5 if you can set items outside.

The main differences are pricing model and booking flow. Many traditional haulers price by truckload and estimate on site. LoadUp prices per item online and locks the total before booking. For a few items it can cost less, but a full cleanout may suit a truckload hauler.
