The Problem

Getting rid of junk out here takes more than a plan

You check the town website, call around for quotes, and wait on haulers who never call back or can't make it this far out. Weeks go by, and the junk is still in the shed.

Free city pickup is great, when it works

Provincetown's municipal options mostly depend on you bringing things to the transfer station yourself, with permits, set hours, and item rules that can change. Without a truck or a free afternoon, heavy furniture and appliances can sit for weeks.

Traditional haulers play pricing games

Plenty of haulers want to come out and see the job before they quote it, which is a hard ask at the end of the Cape. Then you get truckload pricing that's hard to pin down until the truck is already loaded.

Donation centers are picky (rightly)

Thrift shops and donation programs can only take what they can resell, so stained upholstery, worn bed frames, and anything with damage usually get turned away. You still have to load it, drive it there, and find another plan for whatever they refuse.

Dumpster rental is overkill for one room

A dumpster needs a delivery date, a pickup date, and a level spot, and on tight lanes with little parking that's hard to find. You may also need a permit, and it can annoy the neighbors. For one room, that's a lot of hassle.

What sets us apart

Your price is locked before pickup day

Most companies charge by truck space, and the price often changes on arrival. LoadUp charges by item, based on exactly what you're removing.

  • Per-item, predictable. First item includes the pickup fee. Every add-on is flat, no truck math, no hourly rates.
  • Locked means locked. The price at booking is what you pay. No adjustments, no surprises.
  • No-obligation quotes. Big job or full cleanout? Text a photo for a guaranteed price first.

Neighborhoods Served

Serving Provincetown, all the way to where Route 6 ends

Commercial Street is a shared lane of bikes, strollers, and delivery vans, and nobody wants to park a borrowed truck there to load a dresser. Your Loader does the carrying, tight lanes and stairs included. LoadUp and your Loaders genuinely like showing up for the people who keep this town running.

What Happens to Your Junk

Donation first, recycling second, landfill last

Provincetown homes, guesthouses, and studios often hold bulky items that are awkward to move out alone. Your Loader sorts what leaves the property by condition, aiming to keep usable things in circulation when local options allow.

Local Disposal Rules

The Provincetown disposal rules most residents don't know

Hazardous products dumped as trash put Cape Cod's drinking water at risk, and bagged recycling can cost the town a fine. Here is what applies in Provincetown and Barnstable County.

Rule 01

The swap shop takes household goods but not furniture right now

Household goods, toys, and books in usable condition can be dropped at the transfer station swap shop for reuse instead of being trashed. Furniture is not being accepted there at this time, and the shop closes Sundays and Mondays.

Rule 02

Boat and RV chemicals go to the Outer Cape collection

Barnstable County's household hazardous waste collections accept products from boats, RVs, garages, and gardens, including oil-based paints, gasoline, solvents, and pesticides. Provincetown hosts one in October, and residents may also attend the Wellfleet and Truro dates free.

Rule 03

Styrofoam peanuts get reused, but other foam cannot be recycled

Clean, bagged Styrofoam peanuts can be left at the exchange shed across from the swap shop, where others can take them for reuse. Any other Styrofoam, including molded blocks from appliance boxes, cannot be recycled in Provincetown.

Rule 04

Plastic lawn furniture is recyclable, but PVC pipe is not

Summer patio chairs and tables don't have to go in the trash. The Provincetown Transfer Station accepts all plastic lawn furniture and large plastic toys as rigid plastic, along with regular curbside recyclables. PVC pipe is excluded from that stream.

Rule 05

Renovation wood falls outside the transfer station's wood category

Provincetown's Transfer Station takes wood only if it is not from construction, and fees may apply even then. Wood torn out during a remodel or new build does not fit that category, so plan for it separately.

Rule 06

Recycling must go out loose, never in plastic bags

Since 2019, Provincetown has required all recycling to be loose in barrels, with no bags of any kind, not even clear ones. Bagged recycling is not picked up because it contaminates the entire load. Plastic film and bags count as trash.

Generally no. Provincetown residents bring bulky trash to the Transfer Station at 90 Race Point Road, and items left on a street or public land without a scheduled pickup can count as illegal dumping. Confirm current rules with the town DPW.

LoadUp pricing for junk removal in Provincetown starts at $105, with $5 off for curbside or outdoor pickup. The first item includes the base pickup fee, each additional item is a flat add-on, and the exact total is confirmed before booking.

Often, yes, if you can haul it yourself. A Transfer Station sticker is $25 a year for residents and property owners, and you pay item fees on top. Hiring help makes more sense when you lack a truck, have heavy loads, or can't make the trip.

Not for curbside or outdoor pickups. Leave items in an accessible spot and add access notes at booking. For indoor pickups, someone should be there or you can leave access instructions. Availability varies by date, especially in peak summer season.

Hazardous materials, large appliances and electronics often have special handling rules or fees at the Transfer Station. Check the town's accepted items list before hauling. Many rental turnovers and estate cleanouts include a mix of these, so sorting first helps.

Loaders aim to donate usable items and recycle what they can, depending on acceptance by local partners. Items that can't be donated or recycled go to the appropriate disposal facility. Outcomes vary by item condition and what's available nearby.

Pick your items and time online, and you see the price before you confirm. On pickup day your Loader typically calls ahead before arriving, then removes the items from the location you chose, whether indoors or at the curb.

Pricing model and booking. Traditional haulers usually price by truckload and may confirm the cost after an on-site estimate. LoadUp prices per item online, with the total confirmed before booking, which often suits small jobs best. Large cleanouts may suit truckload pricing.
