The Problem

Getting rid of junk out here takes more than a truck

You check the parish website, call around for quotes, and leave a few voicemails that never get returned. A weekend slips by, then a month, and the junk is still sitting in the shed waiting for a plan.

Free city pickup is great, when it works

Parish or municipal pickup schedules, where available, can handle some bulky waste. They often come with limits on item types, amounts, or setout rules, and pickup may not reach a long rural driveway. If your junk is in a barn or back room, you still have to move it yourself.

Traditional haulers play pricing games

Many haulers want to come out and look before they give you a number, which can mean a long wait in a spread-out area. Then pricing by the fraction of a truckload makes it hard to know what you'll actually pay until the truck is already loaded.

Donation centers are picky (rightly)

Donation centers need items they can resell, so stained upholstery, broken appliances, and worn-out pieces usually get turned away. Even usable items still have to be loaded and driven there. And whatever gets refused comes right back to your property.

Dumpster rental is overkill for one room

A dumpster makes sense for a full gut job. For one cleared-out room or a pile of storm limbs, it's more than you need. You have to schedule delivery and pickup, find level ground for it, and do all the heavy lifting yourself in the meantime.

What sets us apart

Your price is locked before pickup day

Most companies charge by truck space, and the price often changes on arrival. LoadUp charges by item, based on exactly what you're removing.

  • Per-item, predictable. First item includes the pickup fee. Every add-on is flat, no truck math, no hourly rates.
  • Locked means locked. The price at booking is what you pay. No adjustments, no surprises.
  • No-obligation quotes. Big job or full cleanout? Text a photo for a guaranteed price first.

Neighborhoods Served

Serving Grand Point, along the Mississippi and across the River Parishes

Out here, a lot is measured in acres, and the old freezer is often at the far end of it. Hauling it yourself means a borrowed trailer, a long drive, and a sore back. Your Loaders carry it from the shed, yard, or barn and load the truck, because folks in Grand Point deserve their Saturdays back.

What Happens to Your Junk

Donation first, recycling second, landfill last

Big, bulky items are hard to deal with on a rural lot, and where they end up matters as much as getting them gone. In Grand Point, your Loader sorts each item by condition, so donation, recycling, or disposal fits the piece.

Gently Used

Donation Pickup

Furniture, appliances, and household goods in good, clean condition may be donated when possible. Your Loader carries them out and loads them separately, and donation depends on what local options allow.

  • Tax-deductible receipt by request
  • Diverts waste from landfill
  • Free up your space and help a neighbor

Recycling

Items that are damaged but still have usable materials, like metal appliances or bent fencing, may be recycled where available. Your Loader sets these aside from the rest of the load when local options allow.

  • Materials sorted and recovered
  • Diverted from landfill where possible
  • Compliant with local waste regs

Local Disposal Rules

The Grand Point disposal rules most residents don't know

Bring the wrong load to a parish transfer site and you can be turned away at the gate. These rules apply to Grand Point residents across St. James Parish.

Rule 01

After hurricanes, storm debris goes curbside in separate piles

After Hurricane Ida, St. James Parish residents were told to keep household garbage apart from storm debris. They were also asked to sort tree limbs, carpet and carpet padding, aluminum and wood fencing, and household appliances into separate curbside piles.

Rule 02

Passenger tires are capped at five per day

Parish transfer sites accept only passenger vehicle tires, with a limit of five per day. Tires from 18 wheelers, tractors and similar equipment are not accepted, so clearing out a shed full of old tires may take several trips.

Rule 03

Roof shingles are excluded even though remodeling debris is accepted

Parish transfer sites take construction debris from residential projects only, and loads from businesses are refused. Shingles are specifically excluded, which is worth knowing before roof repairs after hurricane season. Tear-off material needs a different disposal plan.

Rule 04

Your own trash cans are no longer collected curbside

Since December 2022, curbside garbage in St. James Parish must fit inside the 96-gallon Waste Management cart, and resident-owned containers are not collected. Set carts three feet from each other and from mailboxes, cars or trees so the automated arm can lift them.

Rule 05

Furniture drop-offs cannot arrive in a dump trailer

Both parish transfer sites accept furniture and household trash and are open seven days a week, but they do not accept dump trailers of any size. The sites also close on several holidays, including Mardi Gras and Easter Sunday.

Rule 06

Tree limbs only go to the West Bank site

Vegetative debris and oil are accepted only at the parish's West Bank collection site in Vacherie, so Grand Point residents have to cross the river. The parish also takes tree limb pickup requests online through its Citizen Service Center.

Not for bulk items. Waste Management handles regular household trash for St. James Parish, and the East Bank route runs Mondays and Thursdays. Furniture, appliances, and construction debris go to a parish collection site, so leaving them out can count as illegal dumping.

LoadUp pricing for junk removal in Grand Point starts at $80, and curbside or driveway pickup takes a flat $5 off. The first item includes the base pickup fee, each additional item is a flat add-on charge, and the exact total is confirmed before booking.

Same-day pickup is sometimes available, depending on Loader schedules and demand in the River Parishes. Enter your address when booking to see real-time openings for your location. Rural spots between Baton Rouge and New Orleans may have fewer same-day slots than larger towns.

The parish runs an East Bank collection site at 12270 N Golden Grove Road in Gramercy. It accepts furniture, white goods, household trash, and residential construction debris. Tires are limited to 5 per day, and businesses can't dump construction debris there.

Loaders aim to keep usable items out of the landfill by donating them when charities will accept them. They try to recycle metal and other materials whenever possible. Anything that can't be donated or recycled goes to the appropriate disposal facility.

You pick your items online, see the price, and choose a time window. For curbside or driveway pickups you don't need to be home. For items inside, someone should be there or you can leave access instructions at booking. A Loader contacts you before arriving.

The main difference is pricing. Traditional haulers like 1-800-GOT-JUNK and Junk King typically price by truckload and estimate on site. LoadUp prices per item online, so the total is confirmed before booking. For a full-house cleanout, a truckload hauler may suit you better.

Hazardous items like oil-based paint, solvents, pesticides, and used oil don't belong in regular trash or at the parish collection sites. St. James residents can use the annual Household Hazardous Materials Collection Day hosted with St. Charles and St. John the Baptist parishes.
