The Problem

Clearing out junk around the lakes takes more than effort

You look up the rules, call the town office, then the county, and leave messages with a few haulers. One calls back. The others never do. Weeks later, the pile in the garage hasn't moved.

Free city pickup is great, when it works

Municipal pickup schedules can be a real help, but they often limit what goes out, how much, and when. Requests may need to be made ahead of time, and you still have to drag everything to the road yourself, which doesn't work if you're only up for the weekend.

Traditional haulers play pricing games

Plenty of haulers want to come look before they'll give you a number, and that number is often tied to how much of the truck you fill. You won't know what you're paying until they're standing in your driveway, and it can grow from there.

Donation centers are picky (rightly)

Thrift stores and charities need things they can resell, so they turn down stained upholstery, broken frames, and worn mattresses. Even good pieces need a way to get there. Donating helps when local options allow, but it rarely clears out a whole basement.

Dumpster rental is overkill for one room

A roll-off sounds simple until you're planning around delivery and pickup dates, checking whether you need a permit, and figuring out where it can sit on a narrow lakeside lot. Then you're the one lifting everything over the side, all for a single room of junk.

What sets us apart

Your price is locked before pickup day

Most companies charge by truck space, and the price often changes on arrival. LoadUp charges by item, based on exactly what you're removing.

  • Per-item, predictable. First item includes the pickup fee. Every add-on is flat, no truck math, no hourly rates.
  • Locked means locked. The price at booking is what you pay. No adjustments, no surprises.
  • No-obligation quotes. Big job or full cleanout? Text a photo for a guaranteed price first.

Neighborhoods Served

Serving Syracuse, from Syracuse Lake around the Wawasee shoreline

Anyone who has tried to wedge a sleeper sofa into a pickup on a narrow cottage lane, with weekend traffic stacking up behind them, knows how this goes. Your Loaders handle the lifting, loading, and hauling, so you skip the truck rental and the dump run. Syracuse is a town worth showing up for.

What Happens to Your Junk

Donation first, recycling second, landfill last

Small towns have limited places to take bulky items, so where things end up matters. In Syracuse, your Loader sorts each pickup by condition, aiming to keep usable pieces out of the landfill when local options allow.

Local Disposal Rules

The Syracuse disposal rules most residents don't know

Putting the wrong item at the curb can mean it stays there after Monday's collection. These are the disposal rules for Syracuse and the rest of Kosciusko County.

Rule 01

Warsaw depot is the county's only household hazardous waste site

Paint, chemicals, aerosols, batteries, fluorescent bulbs and medical sharps go to the KC Recycling Depot. It is the only place in Kosciusko County that takes household hazardous waste. You have to hand items to a warehouse worker during open hours and never leave them outside the doors.

Rule 02

Syracuse replaced spring clean-up week with a weekly large item

Syracuse no longer holds a spring clean-up week. Instead, households on town trash service can put out one large item each week, such as furniture or a mattress. Place it at the curb at least five feet away from carts and anything else.

Rule 03

Indiana bans TVs and other electronics from its landfills

Indiana bans electronics from its landfills because they contain toxic materials. The KC Recycling Depot currently takes flat-screen TVs and monitors, CRT TVs, CPU towers, laptops and printers free for county residents. Its vendors certify that any data on the devices is destroyed.

Rule 04

Recycling pickup goes weekly from May through August

Syracuse recycling carts are usually emptied every other Monday. From May through August, pickup is weekly, which gives you more room during summer cleanouts. Recyclables have to be inside the cart with the lid closed, and the cart must be out before 6 a.m.

Rule 05

Remodeling debris and car parts can't go out as large items

The town's large item program does not take construction material, building supplies, auto parts or coolant. Debris from a home or lake cottage remodel needs a different way out, because it doesn't count as the weekly curbside item.

Rule 06

Appliances need their own pickup request, and Freon costs more

Appliances don't count as the free weekly large item in Syracuse. You have to schedule them separately with Borden Waste-Away, which charges per appliance and charges more for ones that contain Freon. The KC Recycling Depot does not accept appliances that contain Freon.

Not safely. Rules for large items vary by trash hauler and town, and I could not confirm a town bulk pickup program for Syracuse, IN. Confirm with the Town of Syracuse or your hauler first, because items left out without approval can be treated as illegal dumping.

LoadUp pricing for junk removal in Syracuse starts at $80 for a single item, and curbside or driveway pickup takes $5 off. The first item includes the base pickup fee, and each additional item is a flat add-on charge. The exact total is confirmed before booking.

Same-day pickup is sometimes available in Syracuse, depending on the schedule and your address. Next-day slots are more common. Enter your address during booking to see which times are open for your location, including lakefront and cottage properties.

Not for curbside or driveway pickups. You can leave items outside with access notes. For items inside, someone should be there, or you can leave entry instructions at booking. This helps with seasonal cottages when you are not on site.

Paint, chemicals, and similar household hazardous waste can go to the KC Recycling Depot at 220 South Union Street in Warsaw, phone 574-372-3087. It is the only household hazardous waste location in Kosciusko County, so these items usually need separate handling from regular junk.

Loaders try to keep usable items out of the landfill. Whenever possible, they donate items in good condition to local charities and recycle materials like metal or cardboard, depending on acceptance. Anything that cannot be donated or recycled goes to an appropriate disposal facility.

Book online, choose your items and a time window, and see your total before confirming. On pickup day, your Loader usually calls or texts before arriving, then carries out the items, loads them, and hauls them away. You do not have to move anything yourself.

The pricing model differs. Traditional haulers often price by truckload and may confirm the cost on site. LoadUp prices per item online, so you see the total before booking. For a full garage or whole-house cleanout, a truckload hauler may suit you better.
