The Problem

Tampa has junk options. Few of them actually fit.

You check the city website, call the county by mistake, request hauler quotes and hear back from half of them. Meanwhile the carport stays full, the weeks slip by and the junk is still sitting there.

Free city pickup is great, when it works

City bulk pickup programs cover a lot, but you usually have to schedule ahead, haul everything to the curb yourself and follow limits on what counts as bulk. That's tough with a sleeper sofa on a Seminole Heights back porch or a Harbour Island condo with no curb.

Traditional haulers play pricing games

Many haulers want to swing by for an in-person estimate first, then price by how much of the truck you fill. In Palma Ceia or Hyde Park, where a renovation can leave more debris than expected, that number can shift on the spot, after you've already cleared your afternoon.

Donation centers are picky (rightly)

Donation centers need items they can resell, so a recliner with a torn seam or a dresser that soaked up years of Gulf Coast humidity often gets turned away. Even when they accept something, you still have to load it, drive it over and figure out the rest.

Dumpster rental is overkill for one room

A dumpster makes sense for a gut job, not a spare bedroom. You may need to sort out permits or placement rules, wait on delivery and pickup windows and give up your driveway for days. On a narrow Tampa Heights street, the neighbors will notice too.

What sets us apart

Your price is locked before pickup day

Most companies charge by truck space, and the price often changes on arrival. LoadUp charges by item, based on exactly what you're removing.

  • Per-item, predictable. First item includes the pickup fee. Every add-on is flat, no truck math, no hourly rates.
  • Locked means locked. The price at booking is what you pay. No adjustments, no surprises.
  • No-obligation quotes. Big job or full cleanout? Text a photo for a guaranteed price first.

Neighborhoods Served

Serving Tampa, on both sides of the Hillsborough River

Tampa summers run on humidity and a thunderstorm that seems to know exactly when your couch hits the driveway. Wet cardboard, swollen furniture and heat make hauling it yourself miserable. Your Loader does the lifting, carrying and loading while you stay in the air conditioning, because showing up for Tampa neighbors is what we love.

What Happens to Your Junk

Donation first, recycling second, landfill last

Tampa homes turn out bulky items all year, from humid-weather sofas to renovation leftovers, so where things end up matters. Your Loader sorts what leaves by condition, aiming to keep what's possible out of landfills.

Furniture and household goods in good, clean condition may be donated when possible. Your Loader can take usable pieces away, and donation depends on where local options are available for that item.

Local Disposal Rules

The Tampa disposal rules most residents don't know

Yard waste in plastic bags gets left at the curb, and mixed storm piles can cost the city its FEMA reimbursement. These rules apply in Tampa and Hillsborough County.

Rule 01

Plastic bags of yard waste are left behind in Tampa

Since February 2024, city code requires yard waste to go out in biodegradable paper bags, reusable containers up to 32 gallons, or bundles tied with jute twine. Each piece must weigh 50 pounds or less. The rule exists because Tampa now turns this material into mulch.

Rule 02

Electronics go to Hillsborough County community collection sites

The City of Tampa sends residents to Hillsborough County's Community Collection sites with their electronics. These sites take them Monday through Saturday for environmentally safe disposal. You need that county option because electronics are also refused in Tampa's curbside storm debris pickup.

Rule 03

Storm debris must stay separate to keep FEMA reimbursement

To qualify for FEMA assistance, Tampa must count storm debris separately from garbage, yard waste, recycling and SWEEP items. Make separate piles for vegetative debris, for furniture and construction debris, and for large appliances. Leave three feet around each pile and keep storm drains clear.

Rule 04

Tampa's SWEEP pickup covers 10 cubic yards of bulky items

Residential solid waste customers get a no-cost SWEEP collection for furniture and other items too big for the standard 95-gallon garbage container. It runs on a set neighborhood schedule. Anything over 10 cubic yards may cost extra, and special pickups outside the schedule have fees.

Rule 05

Paint, solvents and chemicals belong at county hazardous waste sites

Tampa's SWEEP bulky pickup asks residents not to set out chemicals, paints or solvents. The city sends household hazardous waste to Hillsborough County's Household Hazardous Waste sites instead. Even after a hurricane, Tampa's curbside debris collection won't take paint or car batteries.

Rule 06

Tampa account holders can self-haul to McKay Bay free

City residents with an active residential solid waste account can drop off many items at the McKay Bay facility at no additional charge. The facility turns garbage into electricity, and the city encourages residents to bring hurricane-related debris there too.

Only through the city's S.W.E.E.P. program, and only for your scheduled collection. Put items in one pile on the right of way by 8 PM the Sunday of your S.W.E.E.P. week, no more than 5 days early. Check your date at tampa.gov/sweep or call (813) 274-8811.

LoadUp pricing for junk removal in Tampa starts at $80, and curbside or driveway pickup takes a flat $5 off. The first item includes the base pickup fee, each additional item is a flat add-on, and the exact total is confirmed before booking. The city's special pickup is $18.12 per cubic yard.

Same-day slots are often available depending on your address and the time you book, and next-day is more common. Enter your Tampa zip code at booking to see live availability. For curbside pickups, you usually don't need to be home if you leave access notes.

Call the city at (813) 274-8811 or use Tampa Connect to schedule a special pickup for $18.12 per cubic yard. New Tampa is different, since those residents are served by Hillsborough County Solid Waste at (813) 272-5680. A private hauler is the other option when timing matters.

Loaders aim to keep usable items out of the landfill by donating them to local charities when they accept them. They try to recycle metal, cardboard and electronics whenever possible. Whatever can't be donated or recycled goes to the appropriate disposal facility.

Pick your items and your Tampa address online, choose a time window, and see the total before you confirm. On pickup day, the Loader arrives in your window, removes the junk from where it sits, and handles the loading. In-home jobs need someone present or access instructions.

The main difference is the pricing model. Traditional haulers like 1-800-GOT-JUNK and Junk King generally price by truck space, often confirmed on arrival. LoadUp prices per item online, with the total locked before the Loader shows up. Truckload pricing can suit very large cleanouts.

For a large pile at the curb, the city's $18.12 per cubic yard rate can be cheaper, and S.W.E.E.P. is free if your date lines up. A private service makes more sense for faster scheduling, help carrying items from inside, or just a few things. LoadUp starts at $80 in Tampa.
