The Problem

Getting rid of junk in Laguna Beach takes more than it should

You check the county website, call around for quotes, and wait on haulers who never call back. A week later you're still parking around the same pile in the driveway.

Free city pickup is great, when it works

Bay County runs bulk pickup for unincorporated areas, but rules and schedules can differ by address. You usually have to request it ahead of time and set items at the curb. Some items get turned away, and the program won't fit around a guest checkout.

Traditional haulers play pricing games

Many haulers want to see the job in person before they'll quote it. Then they price by fractions of a truckload, which leaves you guessing about your real cost until the truck is already loaded at your door.

Donation centers are picky (rightly)

Thrift stores and charities have to be choosy. Patio furniture with salt air corrosion, stained mattresses, or anything showing humidity damage often gets refused. You still have to load it and drive it over, and you might end up bringing it home again.

Dumpster rental is overkill for one room

A dumpster can take up your whole driveway for days, and it may need HOA approval. You still have to do all the lifting yourself. If you're clearing out one room or one garage, you'll pay for a lot of space you never use.

What sets us apart

Your price is locked before pickup day

Most companies charge by truck space, and the price often changes on arrival. LoadUp charges by item, based on exactly what you're removing.

  • Per-item, predictable. First item includes the pickup fee. Every add-on is flat, no truck math, no hourly rates.
  • Locked means locked. The price at booking is what you pay. No adjustments, no surprises.
  • No-obligation quotes. Big job or full cleanout? Text a photo for a guaranteed price first.

What Happens to Your Junk

Donation first, recycling second, landfill last

Where a couch, mattress, or broken patio set ends up matters as much as getting it out of your Laguna Beach home. Your Loader sorts each item by condition, so donation is considered first, then recycling, then disposal.

Local Disposal Rules

The Laguna Beach disposal rules most residents don't know

Mixed loads of appliances, yard debris, and trash must be separated at the landfill, so know these rules that apply in Laguna Beach and unincorporated Bay County.

Rule 01

Storm vegetation must stay separate from broken fencing

Vegetative waste such as leaves, brush, whole trees, and tree trimmings cannot be traditionally landfilled in Bay County and goes to a separate area. After hurricanes, the county's clean yard debris area excludes fencing, so wind-torn fence panels must stay out of vegetative loads.

Rule 02

Boats, swing sets, and furniture must go to Steelfield Road

Bay County's Bayline Drive Public Participation Center only accepts small loads of household garbage and trash from residents. Large loads and bulky items must use Steelfield Road Landfill, where furniture, swing sets, boats, and construction debris are disposed of together in one area.

Rule 03

Bay County runs landfills but offers no trash pickup

Laguna Beach is unincorporated, and the county's Solid Waste Division does not provide collection, so curbside service comes through private sanitation companies the county licenses. Biannual Waste Amnesty Days let residents with proof of residency drop off yard debris, household garbage, and hazardous waste free.

Rule 04

Lithium batteries go to the hazardous waste facility, not trash

Bay County warns that lithium batteries can produce toxic gas, create explosive environments, and are very difficult to extinguish. Residents can bring them to the Household Hazardous Waste Facility at Steelfield Road Landfill, where hazardous waste disposal carries no charge for residents.

Rule 05

Old air conditioners and washers cannot be buried in landfills

Regulations do not allow appliances such as air conditioners, dryers, stoves, and washing machines to be landfilled. Steelfield Road Landfill still accepts them but processes them separately, and Bay County asks residents to stage them in the load for easy removal.

Rule 06

Flares and ammunition are banned at the county landfill

Bay County's Steelfield Road Landfill prohibits flares, ammunition, explosive materials, and gas cylinders, which matters in a boating community where old marine flares are common. Residential-sized propane tanks, by contrast, are accepted at the landfill.

Not unless it fits your regular trash service rules. Laguna Beach is unincorporated Bay County, so pickup rules depend on your hauler or the county. Bulk items left out without a scheduled pickup can count as illegal dumping, so confirm with the county first.

LoadUp pricing for junk removal in Laguna Beach starts at $80, and curbside or outdoor pickup takes $5 off. The first item includes the base pickup fee, each additional item is a flat add-on charge, and the exact total is confirmed before booking.

Sometimes. Availability depends on the schedule and how early you book, so same-day slots are more likely on weekdays. Enter your address during booking to see live openings. For curbside pickups you generally don't need to be home.

Hazardous materials like paint, solvents, pool chemicals, and fuel usually need special handling and are not taken as regular junk. Bay County runs its own disposal programs for these, so check with the county. Storm debris and heavy construction waste may also need separate arrangements.

Loaders aim to keep usable items out of the landfill. Depending on acceptance, good furniture and household goods may go to local donation partners, and recyclable materials may go to recyclers. Items that can't be donated or recycled go to the appropriate disposal facility.

Pick the items you want removed, choose a time window, and see your price before you confirm. On pickup day your Loader arrives in that window, hauls the items out, and loads them. Curbside jobs can be done without you home, and indoor jobs need access arranged.

The main differences are pricing model and booking flow. Traditional haulers often price by truckload and may confirm the cost at an on-site estimate. LoadUp prices per item online, so the total is confirmed before booking. For a large cleanout, a truckload rate can still make sense.

It often is for a quick turnover. Laguna Beach has many vacation homes, and leftover furniture or guest-left items can pile up between stays. A scheduled pickup clears them in one visit, and curbside pricing is $5 off the base price if items are outside.
