The Problem

Getting rid of junk around here is harder than it looks

You check the county website, call a couple of haulers, and wait on callbacks that never come. One quote is vague, another needs a site visit, and weeks later the junk is still sitting in your garage.

Free city pickup is great, when it works

Escambia County bulk pickup programs can help, but you usually have to request a pickup, wait for your slot, and haul everything to the curb yourself. Some items are restricted or excluded, and the timing rarely matches a move-out deadline.

Traditional haulers play pricing games

Plenty of haulers want to see the pile in person before they quote, then price by a fraction of a truckload you can't measure yourself. The number you hear on the phone and the number at the end don't always match.

Donation centers are picky (rightly)

Thrift stores and charities have to be choosy, so stained mattresses, worn recliners, and dated appliances often get turned away. You still have to load everything, drive it over, and figure out what to do with the rejects.

Dumpster rental is overkill for one room

A roll-off container takes up your driveway for days, may need approval from your HOA or landlord, and still leaves you doing all the lifting. For a spare bedroom or a few bulky pieces, it's more bin than you need.

What sets us apart

Your price is locked before pickup day

Most companies charge by truck space, and the price often changes on arrival. LoadUp charges by item, based on exactly what you're removing.

  • Per-item, predictable. First item includes the pickup fee. Every add-on is flat, no truck math, no hourly rates.
  • Locked means locked. The price at booking is what you pay. No adjustments, no surprises.
  • No-obligation quotes. Big job or full cleanout? Text a photo for a guaranteed price first.

Gulf Coast summers mean wet-towel humidity, and hurricane season means fallen limbs and soggy carpet show up on their own schedule. Hauling any of it yourself in that heat is a lot to ask. Your Loader carries it out and loads up, and honestly, your Ferry Pass neighbors are who we love showing up for.

What Happens to Your Junk

Donation first, recycling second, landfill last

Bulky items pile up fast in Ferry Pass garages, rentals, and yards, so where they end up matters. Your Loader sorts each load by condition, aiming to keep usable items in circulation when local options allow.

Local Disposal Rules

The Ferry Pass disposal rules most residents don't know

Set out the wrong items or skip the request step and your pile can sit uncollected at the curb. These rules apply in Ferry Pass and Escambia County.

Rule 01

Storm debris follows county rules, not regular bulk pickup

After a hurricane, ECUA can suspend bulk waste collection while Escambia County runs its own storm debris pickup. Keep storm debris separate from household garbage and recycling, and keep fallen branches away from your carts so they can still be collected.

Rule 02

Sheetrock, fencing, and carpet are not bulk waste

ECUA's bulk pickup does not take building debris such as fencing, carpet, and sheetrock. Roof, floor, and fence repairs after Gulf storms tend to leave behind exactly these materials, so remodel leftovers need to be disposed of some other way than the weekly bulk pile.

Rule 03

Lithium-ion batteries never belong in either ECUA cart

ECUA asks residents to keep lithium-ion batteries out of garbage and recycling cans and to take them out of electronic toys before bulk pickup. Escambia County residents can bring batteries and other household hazardous waste to the Perdido Landfill year-round at no charge.

Rule 04

Furniture and mattress pickup now requires a request first

Since July 2023, ECUA bulk pickup happens only on request. Submit the online form or use the MyECUA app by 1:59 p.m. the day before collection. Then set out one pile no larger than 6 by 6 by 6 feet, no more than 48 hours early.

Rule 05

Yard waste bags should be paper, not plastic

ECUA picks up as many as 20 bags or cans of yard waste once a week. It prefers compostable paper bags and asks residents not to use plastic. Yard material too large for a bag should be bundled following ECUA's collection guidelines.

Rule 06

Bulky recyclables get their own pickup, with one catch

ECUA runs a separate Bulk Recycling program for large recyclable items. It is open only to residential customers who have signed up for curbside recycling, which is free but not automatic. Flattened cardboard can also go out with regular bulk pickup.

Not unless it falls under ECUA's regular service or a county cleanup event. ECUA collects household trash, recycling and yard trash in unincorporated Escambia County. Bulk piles outside those programs can be treated as illegal dumping. ECUA's number is 850-476-0480.

LoadUp pricing for junk removal in Ferry Pass starts at $80, and curbside or outdoor pickup takes $5 off. The first item includes the base pickup fee and each additional item is a flat add-on. The exact total is confirmed before booking. Truckload haulers usually quote in person.

Same-day slots are sometimes open, depending on Loader availability near Ferry Pass. Enter your address when booking to see live times. For curbside pickups you don't need to be home. For indoor jobs, someone should be there or leave access instructions.

Household hazardous waste like old paint, motor oil, chemicals and batteries can't go in the trash. Escambia County residents can drop it off at no charge at the Perdido Landfill in Cantonment. Electronics are accepted there too, but businesses are not.

Loaders sort items and aim to donate usable pieces and recycle what they can, depending on what local charities and recyclers accept. Items that can't be reused or recycled go to an appropriate disposal facility. Outcomes vary by job, so donation or recycling is never guaranteed.

You pick your items online and see the price upfront. You choose a time window, and the total is confirmed before you book. On pickup day your Loader arrives, removes the items, and handles the hauling and loading. Curbside items can be left out with access notes.

Self-hauling can be cheaper if you have a truck or trailer and time to spare. The Perdido Landfill in Cantonment is the county's disposal site, and Escambia County Waste Services can confirm current fees at 850-937-2160. Hiring a hauler saves the lifting and driving.

The main difference is the pricing model. Traditional haulers like 1-800-GOT-JUNK and Junk King generally price by truck space and often confirm the final price on site. LoadUp prices per item online and confirms the total before booking, which can suit small jobs.
