Edgewood's Thursday bulk collection does not take hot tubs, hot tub covers, pool pumps and filters, pool covers, or diving boards. A one-piece formed plastic pool is the exception, but only after it has been taken apart.
Yard waste is picked up on Tuesdays. No piece can be longer than 4 feet or wider than 6 inches across, and the total pile should stay under two cubic yards. Leaves, grass clippings, and twigs must be bagged, bundled, or put in a container.
Edgewood's bulk pickup takes stoves and toilets, but not refrigerators, window AC units, or any other appliance that contains Freon. Residents have to take these to a landfill themselves. Orange County's curbside program also leaves out freezers that contain Freon.
Orange County treats any item with a circuit board as e-waste, including cell phones, computers, and tablets. Residents can drop it off free at county sites and collection events. Rear-projection TVs are not accepted, and electronics never go in curbside recycling.
Edgewood's bulk pickup does not take construction and remodeling debris, including cabinets, carpet, flooring, tile, sinks, fencing, decks, shingles, brick, and concrete. The city's trash contract does not cover this kind of debris, so residents have to arrange for its disposal separately.
Lawn mowers are picked up on Thursday bulk day only if the gas has been drained. BBQ grills are picked up only if the propane tank has been removed. Orange County takes propane tanks free from residents: up to 20 pounds at the transfer station and up to 100 pounds at its landfill.
