The Problem

Plenty of ways to ditch junk in Tucson, none easy

You search for options, call the city only to learn your address falls under different rules, request hauler quotes, and hear back from half of them. Meanwhile the junk keeps its spot in the carport for another week.

Free city pickup is great, when it works

City bulk pickup programs can handle a lot, but they run on their own schedule, not yours. Some items are off limits, service depends on where your address actually falls, and you still have to drag everything out to the street yourself.

Traditional haulers play pricing games

Many haulers want to see the pile in person before naming a number, then price by the fraction of a truck it fills. The estimate you hear on the phone and the total you pay at the end don't always match.

Donation centers are picky (rightly)

Thrift stores and charities need goods they can resell, so stained upholstery, broken frames, and sun-faded patio sets often get turned away. Even a successful drop-off means loading, hauling, and unloading it yourself, then figuring out what to do with the rejects.

Dumpster rental is overkill for one room

A roll-off container makes sense for a full remodel, not a garage cleanout. You coordinate delivery and pickup windows, may need permission to place it, give up your driveway for days, and still do every bit of the lifting yourself.

What sets us apart

Your price is locked before pickup day

Most companies charge by truck space, and the price often changes on arrival. LoadUp charges by item, based on exactly what you're removing.

  • Per-item, predictable. First item includes the pickup fee. Every add-on is flat, no truck math, no hourly rates.
  • Locked means locked. The price at booking is what you pay. No adjustments, no surprises.
  • No-obligation quotes. Big job or full cleanout? Text a photo for a guaranteed price first.

Neighborhoods Served

Serving Tucson, from the Rillito to the Santa Cruz and every wash between

Nobody wants to wrestle a sectional into a rented truck when the seat belt buckle can leave a mark in July. Tucson heat makes every landfill run feel longer than it is. Your Loaders do the lifting and loading, and they genuinely like showing up for neighbors who know how to take summer in stride.

What Happens to Your Junk

Donation first, recycling second, landfill last

Bulky furniture, worn-out appliances, and yard leftovers all need somewhere to go, and in Tucson that choice depends on condition. Your Loader sorts what can move on, when local options allow, from what cannot.

Donation Pickup

Sofas, dressers, and household goods in good, clean shape may be set aside for donation when local options allow. Your Loader carries them out and, where available, takes them toward a donation channel.

  • Tax-deductible receipt by request
  • Diverts waste from landfill
  • Free up your space and help a neighbor

Visible Wear

Recycling

Items that are worn but not donatable, like scrapped metal frames or broken appliances, may be recycled when possible. Your Loader separates them during loading, and acceptance depends on what local facilities take.

  • Materials sorted and recovered
  • Diverted from landfill where possible
  • Compliant with local waste regs

Local Disposal Rules

The Tucson disposal rules most residents don't know

Anything over Tucson's 10 cubic yard Brush and Bulky limit or on its not accepted list stays at your curb, so here is what applies in Tucson, Pima County.

Rule 01

Glass stays out of the blue barrel and bulky piles

Tucson removed glass from curbside recycling, so glass bottles and jars belong at a city glass drop-off site rather than the blue barrel. Glass and mirrors are also on the not accepted list for Brush and Bulky collection.

Rule 02

Cactus goes out boxed and under 25 pounds

Tucson's Brush and Bulky collection accepts cacti only when they are boxed up for safety, with a 25 pound limit. Other brush must be no longer than 5 feet and no wider than 24 inches in diameter.

Rule 03

Dried paint can go in regular household trash

Tucson allows dried paint and alkaline batteries in regular trash. Liquid paint, pesticides, and pool chemicals go to the city's household hazardous waste program, free for Tucson residents but fee-based for Marana, Oro Valley, Sahuarita, and unincorporated Pima County.

Rule 04

Remodel debris and concrete need a separate disposal plan

Brush and Bulky collection rejects construction material, concrete, and dirt, stone, rocks, and gravel. Lumber is the exception: pieces up to 5 feet long are accepted when placed in a pile separate from the rest of your items.

Rule 05

Old evaporative coolers can be recycled as scrap metal

The Los Reales Sustainability Campus takes metal appliances as scrap metal at no charge, including evaporative coolers, hot water heaters, stoves, washers, and dryers. For Brush and Bulky pickup, refrigerator and freezer doors must be removed first.

Rule 06

Televisions and computer monitors are excluded from Brush and Bulky

The twice-yearly neighborhood cleanup will not take televisions or computer monitors. Instead, the city's monthly household hazardous waste collection events accept electronic waste at no charge for Tucson residents, and they are typically held on the second Saturday of each month.

No. Tucson's Brush and Bulky program visits each of its 26 trash service areas twice a year, and piles must be out by 6 a.m. on the Monday of your week, no more than two weeks early. Items set out outside that window risk being treated as illegal dumping.

LoadUp pricing for junk removal in Tucson starts at $80, with $5 off for curbside or driveway pickup. The first item includes the base pickup fee and each additional item is a flat add-on, with the exact total confirmed before booking. Truckload haulers often start around $130 to $150.

Often, depending on the schedule and your address. Same-day and next-day slots are shown when you enter your Tucson zip code during booking. For curbside or driveway pickups you usually don't need to be home. For indoor pickups, someone should be there or leave access instructions.

You can order a special Brush and Bulky collection anytime through the city's request form or Customer Service at 520-791-3171. The city's published fee has been $55 for up to 10 cubic yards, so confirm the current rate. Concrete, dirt, glass and hazardous waste are not accepted.

Paint, cleaners, and similar household chemicals can't go in bulk piles. Tucson residents can take them to the Los Reales Sustainability Campus at 5300 E. Los Reales Rd. on Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays, or to monthly collection events. Residents of nearby suburbs and unincorporated Pima County pay a $10 fee.

Loaders aim to donate usable items, recycle what they can, and avoid landfill whenever options allow. Outcomes depend on what local charities and recyclers will accept, so nothing is guaranteed. Items that can't be donated or recycled go to the appropriate disposal facility.

The main differences are pricing model and booking flow. Traditional haulers like 1-800-GOT-JUNK typically price by truckload and may confirm the final cost on site. LoadUp prices per item online, with the total confirmed before booking. For large cleanouts, a truckload price may suit you better.
