The Problem

Charleston's junk options all ask for your Saturday

You read the city's trash page, call to make sure, then leave messages with a couple of haulers and hear back from one. A month goes by and the junk is still sitting right where it was.

Free city pickup is great, when it works

City trash service only takes what fits inside the issued cart, and the ordinance leaves out appliances, construction debris, brush, and tires. The bulk option is a drop-off open one Saturday morning a month, so you still load it, haul it, and pay by the load.

Traditional haulers play pricing games

Call a hauler and the first step is usually an in-person look, scheduled whenever a truck happens to be out this way. The number comes later, measured in fractions of a trailer, and it can climb once they see what's actually in the shop building.

Donation centers are picky (rightly)

Thrift shops and church resale rooms set their own rules, and stained upholstery, a mattress, or a dresser with a cracked leg usually gets turned away at the door. Even the pieces they'll take still need loading, a truck, and an open donation window.

Dumpster rental is overkill for one room

A roll-off means picking a delivery date, finding a spot that won't chew up the driveway, then filling it yourself before haul-off day. For one bedroom's worth of furniture you're renting a week of steel in the yard, and the loading is still on you.

What sets us apart

Your price is locked before pickup day

Most companies charge by truck space, and the price often changes on arrival. LoadUp charges by item, based on exactly what you're removing.

  • Per-item, predictable. First item includes the pickup fee. Every add-on is flat, no truck math, no hourly rates.
  • Locked means locked. The price at booking is what you pay. No adjustments, no surprises.
  • No-obligation quotes. Big job or full cleanout? Text a photo for a guaranteed price first.

Neighborhoods Served

Serving every part of Charleston, both sides of Highway 22

Around here everybody owns a truck, which is exactly why nobody offers to help you wrestle a dead chest freezer out of the shop. Then it's a long haul to wherever will even take it. Friday nights belong to the Tigers, not to that. Your Loaders do the carrying, and they like showing up for folks in Charleston.

What Happens to Your Junk

Donation first, recycling second, landfill last

Most of what leaves a Charleston garage or shed is still worth something to somebody, so condition decides the route. Your Loaders sort each piece as they load it, keeping usable items out of a landfill when local options allow.

Donation Pickup

Furniture, working appliances, and household goods that are clean and intact get set aside for donation when a nearby organization is open and accepting that category. Want a receipt? Drop those items off yourself.

  • Tax-deductible receipt by request
  • Diverts waste from landfill
  • Free up your space and help a neighbor

Visible Wear

Recycling

Broken metal patio sets, bent basketball goals, and dead window units carry scrap value even when nobody wants them whole. Your Loaders separate those materials for recycling where available in Franklin County.

  • Materials sorted and recovered
  • Diverted from landfill where possible
  • Compliant with local waste regs

Heavily Damaged

Responsible Disposal

Water-damaged mattresses, split particleboard dressers, and torn-out flooring from a Charleston remodel head to a permitted disposal site instead. Acceptance rules and fees vary by facility, so your Loaders work with what takes it that day.

  • No logistics or transport to handle
  • No sorting or drop-off required on your end
  • Local disposal fees covered

Local Disposal Rules

The Charleston disposal rules most residents don't know

Set the wrong item at the Charleston curb and it stays there, or becomes illegal dumping under Arkansas law; Franklin County residents follow these rules.

Rule 01

City crews empty only the issued cart

Charleston runs an automated collection system, and crews service only the 96-gallon cart issued to your address, which remains city property. Bags stacked beside the cart or in private containers are not collected.

Rule 02

Ordinance excludes appliances, debris and brush from residential pickup

The city solid waste ordinance defines residential waste so that construction debris, appliances, tires, batteries, motor oil, paint, hazardous waste, yard waste and tree limbs are specifically left out, meaning those materials need another disposal route.

Rule 03

Monthly Class 4 drop-off covers bulky household waste

The city opens bulk dumpsters the first Saturday of each month from 8 a.m. to noon for Class 4 waste, with separate metal and non-metal containers. Fees run $20 per pickup load and $30 per trailer load.

Rule 04

Limbs and leaves ride a separate yard route

Yard debris travels on its own weekly Thursday collection rather than the trash cart, and it must be requested the day before. Leaves go out bagged, and limbs are cut to six feet or shorter.

Rule 05

Refrigerant has to come out before disposal

Federal Section 608 rules require a certified technician to recover refrigerant from refrigerators, freezers, window air conditioners and dehumidifiers before scrapping, and venting it is illegal. Arkansas sets no statewide appliance landfill ban, so facilities set their own terms.

Rule 06

Electronics are treated as universal waste in Arkansas

Arkansas classifies consumer electronics, including CRT televisions and monitors, as universal waste, and state regulators hold standing authority to bar e-waste from landfills. The Charleston recycling center accepts only cardboard, paper, plastic bottles and metal cans.

Charleston's automated system only collects trash inside the city-issued 96-gallon can, so loose junk left at the curb won't be picked up. For larger loads, the city opens bulk dumpsters the first Saturday of each month from 8 a.m. to noon. Questions go to city hall at 479-965-2231.

LoadUp pricing for junk removal in Charleston starts at $80, and curbside or driveway pickups take $5 off. The first item covers the base pickup fee, and each extra piece is a flat add-on, with your full total confirmed before you book. The city's first-Saturday cleanup runs $20 per pickup load and $30 per trailer load.

Same-day and next-day slots open up in many Charleston zip codes, though availability can be tighter in smaller rural parts of Franklin County. Enter your address during booking to see live dates. For curbside loads you don't need to be home, just leave the junk accessible with a note.

The city's first-Saturday drop-off takes Class 4 waste but bans tires, batteries, paint, and chemicals, and no household hazardous waste is allowed in either container. Those items need the Ozark transfer station or another proper disposal site. Call city hall at 479-965-2231 if you're unsure about an item.

Loaders sort loads and aim to keep usable goods out of the landfill whenever options allow. Charleston's recycling center on Guy Fenter Drive accepts cardboard, paper, plastic bottles, and aluminum and tin cans. Usable furniture and household goods are routed to donation when a local charity will take them.

You pick your items online or by phone, get an upfront price, and choose a date. On pickup day your Loader calls roughly 30 minutes ahead, confirms the junk, and handles all the lifting and loading. For in-home jobs someone should be present or leave access instructions at booking.

Mostly the pricing model and booking flow. Traditional haulers charge by truckload and usually quote in person, so your price isn't locked until the truck is in your driveway. LoadUp prices per item online and confirms the total before anyone shows up, which tends to run lower on small one or two-item jobs.
