The Problem

Getting junk gone in Jersey Shore takes longer than it should

You look up the borough's trash rules, call a couple of haulers, and wait on callbacks that never come. One quote needs a site visit next week. Meanwhile the pile in the garage hasn't moved.

Free city pickup is great, when it works

Municipal pickup schedules can help with a stray bag or two, but bulky items are another story. Collection in and around the borough depends on your hauler or township, and most limit size, item types, and how often you can set things out. You still have to get it to the curb yourself.

Traditional haulers play pricing games

Many haulers won't give you a number until someone drives out to look. Then the price depends on how much of the truck they think your load fills, and that guess can change once they start loading. That makes it hard to plan a basement or barn cleanout.

Donation centers are picky (rightly)

Donation centers only want things they can resell, so stained upholstery, worn mattresses, and broken appliances get turned away. In a rural county with only a few drop-off spots, a rejected item can mean another drive and another weekend with the same stuff in your shed.

Dumpster rental is overkill for one room

A roll-off makes sense for a gut renovation. For a spare bedroom or a crowded porch, you're stuck with delivery windows, maybe a permit check, and a big container on your driveway or a narrow street for days. And you still have to carry everything out and lift it in yourself.

What sets us apart

Your price is locked before pickup day

Most companies charge by truck space, and the price often changes on arrival. LoadUp charges by item, based on exactly what you're removing.

  • Per-item, predictable. First item includes the pickup fee. Every add-on is flat, no truck math, no hourly rates.
  • Locked means locked. The price at booking is what you pay. No adjustments, no surprises.
  • No-obligation quotes. Big job or full cleanout? Text a photo for a guaranteed price first.

Left by the driveway or carried out from inside

Neighborhoods Served

Serving Jersey Shore, from the West Branch to the township back roads

Older houses here come with steep basement stairs, attic hatches, and a barn or shed out back that has been collecting things for decades. Hauling it yourself means borrowing a truck and losing a weekend. Your Loaders carry it out, and they genuinely like showing up for the neighbors who keep this place going.

What Happens to Your Junk

Donation first, recycling second, landfill last

Bulky items pile up in older basements, garages, and outbuildings, and where they end up matters as much as getting them out. In Jersey Shore, your Loader sorts each item by condition, favoring reuse when local options allow.

Gently Used

Donation Pickup

Furniture, tools, and household goods in clean, usable shape may be donated when possible and when local options allow. Your Loader sets those items aside during the haul, since reuse outlets in rural areas can be limited.

  • Tax-deductible receipt by request
  • Diverts waste from landfill
  • Free up your space and help a neighbor

Visible Wear

Recycling

Items that are worn or damaged but not fit for reuse, such as metal frames or scrap, may be recycled where available. Your Loader separates them from the rest of the load when local options allow.

  • Materials sorted and recovered
  • Diverted from landfill where possible
  • Compliant with local waste regs

Responsible Disposal

Heavily damaged, soiled, or broken-down bulky items that cannot be reused or recycled are taken for responsible disposal. Your Loader handles the lifting and loading, so nothing heavy is left for you to move.

  • No logistics or transport to handle
  • No sorting or drop-off required on your end
  • Local disposal fees covered

Local Disposal Rules

The Jersey Shore disposal rules most residents don't know

Borough ordinance makes it unlawful to dump waste on the ground or take it anywhere but designated facilities, so these rules matter in Jersey Shore and across Lycoming County.

Rule 01

Lithium batteries have sparked fires at the county landfill

Lycoming County Resource Management Services accepts single-use and rechargeable batteries at the landfill recycling area. It also takes items with batteries that cannot be removed, like electric toothbrushes. Lithium batteries were suspected in two landfill fires. Vape and electric vehicle batteries are not accepted.

Rule 02

Big concrete chunks and long poles are refused in Williamsport

The county transfer station in Williamsport refuses concrete slabs larger than 12 inches square, poles longer than 4 feet, and recyclable metal pipe or steel. Anything that shuts the station down for repairs or major cleanup brings a material impact fee.

Rule 03

Fall leaves must be kept out of household trash

Jersey Shore's solid waste ordinance requires residents and property managers who gather leaves to keep them separate from all other waste. Leaves must be set out at the times and in the way the borough sets, not bagged with trash.

Rule 04

Refrigerant appliances go to the county landfill, not Williamsport

The county transfer station in Williamsport no longer accepts refrigerators, freezers, or air conditioners that still contain refrigerant. The Lycoming County Landfill takes them for a per-appliance fee. White goods certified as evacuated by an authorized vendor are accepted at no charge.

Rule 05

Tires must arrive at the landfill apart from other waste

Lycoming County Landfill rules require tires to be brought in separately from other wastes. The Williamsport transfer station turns away bulk loads of tires. Tractor and heavy equipment tires larger than 24.5 inches are accepted only at the landfill.

Rule 06

Borough curbside recycling ended in 2014, so plan ahead

Lycoming County stopped residential curbside recycling in Jersey Shore in November 2014. Residents can set up single stream recycling through a private trash service or use the borough drop-off center. Nothing may be left on the ground there, and container signs list accepted materials.

Not unless it is part of your regular trash service. Jersey Shore's borough solid waste ordinance makes it unlawful to dump or deposit municipal waste on the ground within borough limits. Check with the borough office about bulky items before setting anything out.

LoadUp pricing for junk removal in Jersey Shore starts at $80, and items picked up from the curb or driveway get a flat $5 off. The first item includes the base pickup fee, each additional item is a flat add-on charge, and the exact total is confirmed before booking.

It depends on Loader availability for your address and the time you book. Enter your zip code during booking to see the live openings, including same-day or next-day slots. You can pick a time window online before you confirm.

Not for curbside or driveway pickups. Leave the items out and add access notes at booking. For items inside your home or garage, someone should be there, or you can leave entry instructions. You also get updates before your Loader arrives.

Hazardous materials such as paint, chemicals, and fuel generally can't go in household trash or a hauler's truck. Large or restricted items often need separate handling. Lycoming County Resource Management Services handles county waste disposal, so confirm what it accepts.

Loaders try to keep usable items out of the landfill. Depending on acceptance, good furniture and household goods go to donation partners, and recyclable materials go to recyclers. Items that can't be donated or recycled go to an appropriate disposal facility.

Choose your items online, pick a pickup window, and see your total before you confirm. On pickup day your Loader arrives in the window, removes the items from the curb, driveway, or inside, and handles the loading. You don't need to haul anything yourself.

The main difference is the pricing model. Traditional haulers like 1-800-GOT-JUNK and Junk King usually price by truck space and may confirm the final quote on site. LoadUp prices per item online, so you see the total before anyone arrives. For large cleanouts, a truckload hauler may fit better.
