The Problem

Indian Trail has options. Simple isn't one of them.

You check the collection calendar, learn the county drop-off site is only open certain days, then start calling haulers. One wants to see the pile first, two never call back. Weeks pass and the junk hasn't moved.

Free city pickup is great, when it works

Town bulk collection comes a few times a year, on your recycling day, currently capped at five items with prep rules attached: doors off the fridge, basketball goal dismantled, concrete left behind. Renovation and contractor debris is excluded. Miss your week and the next window is months out.

Traditional haulers play pricing games

Most haulers won't quote you until someone stands in your garage and eyeballs the pile. Then the number comes as a fraction of a truck, which means nothing to you until it's loaded. You block off a morning just to learn what it costs.

Donation centers are picky (rightly)

Charities have limited floor space and real condition standards, so a stained mattress, a dated TV, or a rowing machine with a wobble gets turned down. What they do accept, you usually have to load and deliver yourself, and the rest still needs a plan.

Dumpster rental is overkill for one room

A roll-off means scheduling a drop and a pickup, checking whether the HOA allows a container in the driveway, and still doing every bit of the lifting yourself. It sits in plain view of the street for days, all for one room's worth of stuff.

What sets us apart

Your price is locked before pickup day

Most companies charge by truck space, and the price often changes on arrival. LoadUp charges by item, based on exactly what you're removing.

  • Per-item, predictable. First item includes the pickup fee. Every add-on is flat, no truck math, no hourly rates.
  • Locked means locked. The price at booking is what you pay. No adjustments, no surprises.
  • No-obligation quotes. Big job or full cleanout? Text a photo for a guaranteed price first.

Match your load to the right service level

Curbside fits when everything is already staged in the driveway or at the street, which works well for a subdivision home with room to set items out briefly rather than for days. Choose full service when the load is still in a back bedroom, behind the cars in the garage, or out in the yard, and your Loaders will clear it from where it sits.

Neighborhoods Served

Serving every corner of Indian Trail, on both sides of the 74 corridor

Anyone who has waited at the tracks on Indian Trail Road while a train eases through knows how fast a quick errand stops being quick. Add a truck you do not own and a treadmill nobody wants to lift. Your Loaders handle that part, and they like showing up for folks here.

What Happens to Your Junk

Donation first, recycling second, landfill last

Getting a bulky item out of the house is only half the job in Indian Trail. Where it lands next depends on its condition, so your Loaders separate what can be reused, recycled, or thrown out.

Gently Used

Donation Pickup

Furniture and exercise equipment that is clean, intact, and still usable may go to a local reuse outlet when one is accepting it. If you want a receipt, donate the item yourself.

  • Tax-deductible receipt by request
  • Diverts waste from landfill
  • Free up your space and help a neighbor

Visible Wear

Recycling

Damaged pieces get sorted for material value instead. Metal appliances, electronics, and scrap lumber often have diversion options around the Charlotte metro area, though what is accepted varies by condition and by day.

  • Materials sorted and recovered
  • Diverted from landfill where possible
  • Compliant with local waste regs

Heavily Damaged

Responsible Disposal

Anything soaked, moldy, or broken down past reuse heads to a permitted transfer station or landfill serving Indian Trail. That path is the last resort, used when no reuse or recycling outlet will take it.

  • No logistics or transport to handle
  • No sorting or drop-off required on your end
  • Local disposal fees covered

Local Disposal Rules

The Indian Trail disposal rules most residents don't know

Set the wrong pile at the wrong curb and you risk a code enforcement notice, so know how Indian Trail and Union County handle disposal.

Rule 01

Bulk curbside pickup happens only four times a year

Indian Trail collects bulk and e-waste curbside in February, May, August and November, on your recycling day during your color week. Households may set out up to five oversized items, placed out by 7 a.m.

Rule 02

Renovation and contractor debris is excluded from town pickup

The town's bulk program covers customary household items only. Remnant materials from contractor work or significant home renovation are refused, along with concrete, bricks and metal fencing, leaving Union County Landfill or a private hauler as the route.

Rule 03

North Carolina bans appliances from landfill disposal

State law keeps white goods such as refrigerators, freezers, washers and air conditioners out of landfills because their refrigerants harm the environment. Those units must be routed for refrigerant recovery and metal recycling instead.

Rule 04

Freon units are not accepted at county convenience centers

Union County will not take refrigerators, wine and dorm fridges, or air conditioning units at its convenience center recycling bins. White goods go to the Austin Chaney Road landfill in Wingate, which handles them separately.

Rule 05

Televisions and computers cannot go in the trash

North Carolina's disposal ban keeps electronic devices out of landfills, so TVs, monitors and computers must be recycled. Union County accepts e-waste free at the landfill and all convenience centers except White Store.

Rule 06

Loose leaves at the curb violate town code

Yard waste is banned from North Carolina landfills, and Indian Trail requires branches under four feet long and four inches thick. Loose leaves left curbside are a code violation subject to enforcement and removal penalties.

Indian Trail runs curbside bulk collection only four times a year, in February, May, August, and November. Loose items, clothing, and extra trash bags don't qualify, and bulk pieces must sit at least 3 feet from your roll carts. To report a missed pickup, call 704-821-5401 within 48 hours.

LoadUp pricing for junk removal in Indian Trail starts at $75, and curbside or driveway pickups take $5 off. The first item covers the base pickup fee, and each additional piece is a flat add-on, so your total is confirmed before you book. Local haulers like VETS Junk Removal start around $150.

Same-day service is often available in Indian Trail when you book early in the day, and next-day pickup is common across Union County. Since the town's own curbside bulk collection runs only four times a year, a hauler is usually the faster route. Enter your zip when booking to see live availability.

Indian Trail won't collect household hazardous waste or e-waste with its curbside bulk service. Union County holds one free household hazardous waste event each year at the Agricultural Center in Monroe, though it doesn't take electronics. For year-round disposal advice, call Union County Solid Waste at 704-296-4260.

Usable items are sorted for donation to local charities and thrift outlets when they're still in good shape, and metal, cardboard, and electronics route to recyclers. Scrap metal can also go to the Union County landfill. Only what can't be reused or recycled heads to disposal, not everything by default.

You book online by listing the items you need gone and your Indian Trail address, then pick a curbside or in-home option and a date. Your price locks in before you confirm. On pickup day your Loader calls roughly 30 minutes ahead, then loads and hauls everything, so there's no in-person estimate visit.

The difference is pricing and booking. Companies like VETS Junk Removal, 1-800-GOT-JUNK, and Junk King often quote by load size or after an in-person visit, so your price isn't set until the truck arrives. LoadUp prices per item online and locks it in before anyone shows up.

Yes. Union County's Trash Pass program lets residents drop up to 10 standard 13-gallon bags or five larger bags per day at a convenience center free with proof of residency. Beyond that it's $1 per standard bag or $2 per larger bag. It won't handle big furniture or appliances, so hauling still helps for bulky loads.
