When junk piles up, it gets harder to ignore. Book LoadUp, see your real price upfront, and get a quick pickup so your Highland home is clear again.
You check the city website, call about pickup rules, and request a few hauler quotes. One calls back, another wants to come look first, and the rest go quiet. Another weekend passes and the junk is still there.
Municipal pickup schedules can help with routine trash, but bulky items often come with limits on size, type, or quantity, and some need advance arrangements. If you can't get it to the curb yourself or need it gone sooner, it may not fit.
Many haulers want to see the job in person before quoting, then price by fractions of a truckload that are hard to judge ahead of time. You could lose an afternoon to an estimate and still not know the final number.
Donation centers want items in good, usable shape, and many turn away stained upholstery, worn mattresses, or older appliances. You still have to load and deliver everything yourself, and whatever gets refused rides back home with you.
A rented dumpster means arranging delivery and pickup, finding room on your driveway, and checking whether placement rules apply. For an emptied basement or a few pieces of old furniture, you end up paying for space you never fill.

Around here, a loaded pickup crawling past with a recliner bungeed in back gets waved at, and probably recognized. You could spend your Saturday on that dump run, or let your Loaders carry it out of the basement and load the truck. Your neighbors deserve a weekend back, and your Loaders like showing up for it.
Big, bulky items are hard to move alone, and where they end up matters as much as getting them out of your Highland home. Your Loader sorts each item by condition, favoring reuse when possible.
Furniture and household goods that are clean and in good shape may be donated when possible and local options allow. Your Loader carries them out and loads them separately from the rest of the haul.
Items that are worn or damaged but not donatable, like metal frames or old appliances, may be recycled where available. Your Loader sets these aside so usable materials stay out of the trash.
Heavily damaged or contaminated bulky items, such as soaked mattresses or broken furniture, go to responsible disposal. Your Loader handles the lifting and loading, so you never have to make a dump run.
Set the wrong item at the curb and it stays there uncollected, so here is how disposal actually works for Highland residents in Madison County, Illinois.
Highland's bulk collection lists carpet as acceptable only when cut into bundles no longer than four feet in length. Uncut rolls pulled up during a flooring project do not fit that guideline, so cutting and tying beforehand avoids a missed pickup.
Since 2012, Illinois law has prohibited landfilling covered electronics, including televisions, computer monitors, printers, keyboards, and video game consoles. That means these items cannot go in a Highland trash cart and need an electronics recycling collection site instead.
Highland's contract with Republic Services includes four on-demand bulk collections per year, each covering up to four items, scheduled in advance. Once those are used, additional collections are invoiced separately, and bags outside the cart are never treated as bulk.
Metro East storms can bring down limbs fast, but Illinois keeps landscape waste out of landfills, and Highland's yard service takes only bundles of brush and branches no longer than two feet and two inches in diameter, tied with string or twine.
Illinois treats refrigerators, freezers, air conditioners, and other white goods as off-limits to landfills until refrigerant, mercury switches, and PCB-containing parts are removed. Those components can release ozone-depleting gases and toxic substances when appliances are crushed.
Highland's bulk program excludes concrete, construction and home remodel debris of any kind, and decking. For tear-out projects, the city's trash service page points residents to Republic Services for temporary dumpster rentals instead.

(678) 884-4738Not unless it is regular trash in a Republic Services cart. Highland contracts trash service to Republic, and refuse must be out by 6:00 a.m. Bulk items need a pickup arranged by calling Republic at 618-656-6883. Unscheduled piles can be treated as illegal dumping.
LoadUp pricing for junk removal in Highland starts at $80, and curbside or driveway pickup takes a flat $5 off. The first item includes the base pickup fee, and each additional item is a flat add-on charge. The exact total is confirmed before booking.
Same-day pickup is sometimes available, depending on Loader schedules and your address. Enter your address when booking to see live openings. For curbside or driveway pickups you usually don't need to be home, but indoor jobs need someone present or access instructions.
Bulk items like furniture and large household goods are not part of normal cart service. They need a separate pickup arranged with Republic Services at 618-656-6883. Hazardous materials generally need special disposal, so ask the hauler before booking anything unusual.
It can be, for one or two bulky items if you can wait for the scheduled date. Highland's residential refuse rate is $31.00 a month as of December 2025, and Republic handles bulk pickup by phone. A paid service is better when you need flexible timing or help carrying items.
Loaders aim to donate usable items and recycle what they can, depending on acceptance by local charities and facilities. Items that can't be donated or recycled go to an appropriate disposal facility. Outcomes vary by item condition and what partners will take.
Pick your items and address online, choose a time window, and see the total before you confirm. Your Loader typically calls or texts before arriving, then removes the items from the curb, driveway, or inside your home. Pricing is set upfront rather than estimated on site.
The main difference is the pricing model. Traditional haulers like 1-800-GOT-JUNK and Junk King usually price by truckload, often with an on-site estimate. LoadUp prices per item online, so the total is confirmed before anyone arrives. Truckload services can suit very large cleanouts.
