The Problem

Getting junk off post shouldn't take a whole weekend

You search for options, call around about bulk pickup, ask a few haulers for quotes, and wait on callbacks that never come. Meanwhile your report date gets closer and the junk is still sitting there.

Free city pickup is great, when it works

City bulk pickup programs in nearby towns can help residents, but they usually run on set schedules, limit what goes out, and turn away some items. Living on post may mean different rules entirely, so the free route doesn't always line up with your timeline.

Traditional haulers play pricing games

Many haulers want to see the job in person before giving a number, then price by how much of the truck you fill. You often don't know the real cost until they're standing in your driveway, and that's a bad time to start negotiating.

Donation centers are picky (rightly)

Donation centers look for items in good, resellable condition, and they turn down a lot: worn mattresses, stained couches, broken furniture. Plus, you still have to load everything up and drive it over yourself, which is hard to fit in during a busy move.

Dumpster rental is overkill for one room

A dumpster makes sense for a remodel, not for a few bulky items. You'd be coordinating delivery and pickup, checking whether your housing or HOA allows one, and hauling everything out to it yourself while it takes up the driveway for days.

What sets us apart

Your price is locked before pickup day

Most companies charge by truck space, and the price often changes on arrival. LoadUp charges by item, based on exactly what you're removing.

  • Per-item, predictable. First item includes the pickup fee. Every add-on is flat, no truck math, no hourly rates.
  • Locked means locked. The price at booking is what you pay. No adjustments, no surprises.
  • No-obligation quotes. Big job or full cleanout? Text a photo for a guaranteed price first.

Neighborhoods Served

Texas summers do not care that you have a sofa to move. Wrestling a sleeper sectional down a driveway in July heat, with the truck bed baking, is a special kind of tired. Your Loaders handle the lifting and loading while you stay in the shade, because folks around here have earned a break.

Local Disposal Rules

The Fort Hood disposal rules most residents don't know

Illegal dumping on post can bring fines and even loss of installation access. Here is how disposal works at Fort Hood, now Fort Cavazos, in Bell County.

Rule 01

Old appliances and scrap metal belong at Fort Cavazos Recycle

Refrigerators and other discards the landfill won't accept can get a dumpster put under a stop order if they're left in it. Trash then goes uncollected until the problem is fixed. Fort Cavazos Recycle takes household appliances and scrap metal directly during operating hours.

Rule 02

Dumped brush is a wildfire hazard in Central Texas

Leaving cut branches or yard brush in the installation's training areas counts as illegal dumping, even though it is natural material. Installation officials warn that discarded brush adds fuel for wildfires, which can put the whole community in danger.

Rule 03

Landfill trips start with a stop at the Recycle Center

Residents taking large items to the on-post landfill first need a voucher from Fort Cavazos Recycle. All recyclable materials are removed before the voucher is issued, so sorting out cardboard, metal cans and paper ahead of time saves a step.

Rule 04

Remove hard drives before turning in old computers

The Classification Unit takes residential electronic waste for free year-round from Department of Defense personnel and family members over 18. Eligible items include phones, game systems, flat screen televisions, computers without hard drives and other electronics.

Rule 05

The post landfill cannot accept trash from off post

A law bars the Fort Cavazos landfill from accepting waste from off the installation, and the site is too small to serve surrounding towns. Residents living in Killeen or elsewhere in Bell County should check with their local transfer station or landfill.

Rule 06

Lithium batteries never go in blue recycling containers

Lithium batteries, gasoline and oil mixed in with recyclables contributed to more than 10 fires at the Fort Cavazos Recycle Center in a two-year span. The Classification Yard accepts lithium batteries, along with paint cans, pesticides, light bulbs and aerosol cans.

Not unless it is part of a scheduled pickup. On-post housing follows the rules of your housing office and the installation, and nearby Killeen limits curbside bulk items to scheduled service. Unscheduled piles can be cited as illegal dumping, so confirm with your housing office first.

LoadUp pricing for junk removal in Fort Hood starts at $75, with $5 off for curbside or driveway pickup. The first item includes the base pickup fee, each additional item is a flat add-on, and the exact total is confirmed before booking. Truckload haulers often charge more.

Same-day slots are sometimes available, depending on the Loader schedule in your area. Enter your address at booking to see live availability. Next-day is more common, and curbside items can be left out with access notes if you won't be home.

Large or restricted items like furniture, mattresses, appliances with refrigerant, tires, batteries, paint, and other liquids usually can't go in regular carts. Killeen's transfer station bans tires, vehicle parts, and hazardous liquids at its free events, so check rules before hauling.

Sometimes, yes. Killeen residents can take up to 300 pounds of excess waste to the Killeen Transfer Station once a month with a utility bill, and the city's premium bulk pickup was raised to $45 in fiscal 2025. Those suit a few items if you can haul them yourself.

Loaders aim to donate usable items and recycle what they can, depending on acceptance by local partners. Items that can't be reused or recycled go to the appropriate disposal facility. Outcomes vary by item condition, so nothing is guaranteed.

Book online, pick your items and a time window, and see your total before confirming. On pickup day, your Loader gives a heads-up before arriving, then removes the items from inside or from the curb. Access notes work if you can't be home.

The pricing model and booking flow differ. Traditional haulers like 1-800-GOT-JUNK and Junk King typically price by truckload and may confirm the cost at an on-site estimate. LoadUp prices per item online, with the total shown before booking, which can suit small jobs.
