The Problem

Getting rid of junk in Dayton takes more than it should

You search online, call the county, leave messages with a couple of haulers, and wait. One calls back with a vague estimate, the rest never do, and weeks later the junk is still sitting there.

Free city pickup is great, when it works

Smaller towns often don't have a regular bulk pickup, and where one exists it may run on a fixed schedule, cap how much you can set out, or turn away appliances and debris. You still have to drag everything out to the road yourself.

Traditional haulers play pricing games

Many haulers want to come out and see the pile before they'll give you a price, then quote by fractions of a truckload. You don't know the real cost until the truck is already loaded and there's no easy way to say no.

Donation centers are picky (rightly)

Donation centers have to be choosy. A stained couch, a dresser with a broken drawer, or anything worn from years in a barn or shed usually gets turned down. You still have to load it, drive it there, and bring back whatever they refuse.

Dumpster rental is overkill for one room

A roll-off container means booking a delivery window, finding a level spot that won't tear up your yard, and possibly checking local rules first. It then sits for days while you do all the lifting, which is a lot for one garage or spare room.

What sets us apart

Your price is locked before pickup day

Most companies charge by truck space, and the price often changes on arrival. LoadUp charges by item, based on exactly what you're removing.

  • Per-item, predictable. First item includes the pickup fee. Every add-on is flat, no truck math, no hourly rates.
  • Locked means locked. The price at booking is what you pay. No adjustments, no surprises.
  • No-obligation quotes. Big job or full cleanout? Text a photo for a guaranteed price first.

Local Disposal Rules

The Dayton disposal rules most residents don't know

A tote of e-waste or a backyard debris fire can put a Dayton household on the wrong side of Indiana law. These rules apply in Dayton and Tippecanoe County.

Rule 01

Extra bags beside the Dayton tote are not part of service

Dayton contracts its Friday trash collection, and the Town Council has stated the contract does not cover trash set outside the provided tote. Households that regularly need more capacity can pay for an additional tote each month.

Rule 02

Televisions and computers are banned from Indiana household trash

Since January 1, 2011, Indiana households may not put e-waste such as computers, televisions, printers, and DVD players in landfill-bound trash. Tippecanoe County hosts electronics recycling events for county residents, and the household hazardous waste drop-off does not accept electronics.

Rule 03

Leftover gasoline and lamp oil go to the county drop-off

Tippecanoe households can bring gasoline, lamp oil, linseed oil, and similar hazardous products to the county's free drop-off at the transfer station without calling ahead. Liquids must be 5 gallons or less, in clearly labeled, leak-proof containers.

Rule 04

Burning cleanout trash or remodeling debris is illegal in Indiana

Indiana law makes it illegal to burn household trash, construction and demolition debris, or dumped waste. Leaving unwanted items anywhere other than a recycling center or a state permitted landfill, transfer station, or incinerator counts as illegal open dumping.

Rule 05

Recycling is mandatory for every Dayton residential household

Dayton requires all residential customers to have recycling collection, which runs every other Friday. For overflow cardboard, the county's free recycling drop-offs accept flattened cardboard along with mixed paper, plastic bottles and jugs, metal food and drink cans, and glass bottles and jars.

Rule 06

Latex paint goes in the trash only once solidified

The county's hazardous waste drop-off does not take latex paint, which the district describes as non-toxic. Once dried out and solidified, it can go in regular trash; for full cans, the county suggests mixing in kitty litter or paint hardener inside a bag-lined box.

Not unless a hauler is collecting it. Dayton is a small unincorporated-style town, and I couldn't confirm a town bulk pickup program. Leaving junk at the curb or on someone else's land can count as illegal dumping, so check with your trash hauler first.

LoadUp pricing for junk removal in Dayton starts at $80 for a single item, and curbside or driveway pickup takes a flat $5 off. The first item includes the base pickup fee, each additional item is a flat add-on, and the exact total is confirmed before booking.

Often, depending on Loader availability for your address. Same-day and next-day slots are offered when open, and you can see live options by entering your Dayton address when booking. For curbside pickups, you usually don't need to be home.

Hazardous items like paint, solvents, pesticides and chemicals shouldn't go in regular trash or a junk load. Tippecanoe County's Solid Waste District runs a permanent household hazardous waste drop-off site near Lafayette, so take those items there separately.

Loaders aim to keep usable items out of the landfill by donating them when local charities will accept them. They try to recycle materials like metal or electronics when options allow. Whatever can't be donated or recycled goes to an appropriate disposal facility.

You book online, choose your items and a time window, and see the total before confirming. On pickup day, your Loader arrives, removes the items from inside or outside your home, and loads them up. Heavy lifting and hauling are handled for you.

Mainly in how pricing works. Truck-load haulers usually estimate by how much space your items fill, often confirmed on site. LoadUp prices per item online, so the total is set before booking. For large clean-outs, a truck-load hauler may fit better.

It can be, if you have a truck and the time. The Tippecanoe County Transfer Station accepts trash from the public and charges fees, which I couldn't confirm for current rates. You do the loading and driving. Paid pickup saves the labor and the trip.
