When junk piles up, it stops being a small chore and starts weighing on your whole place. LoadUp makes pickup simple for Cornish homes, with a clear price shown before you book.
You check the town website, leave a message at the office, and call a few haulers. One quotes vaguely, another never calls back. Weeks go by, and the pile in the barn is still sitting there.
Many small Maine towns don't have scheduled bulk collection and depend on a transfer station instead. That means you load it yourself, haul it yourself, and work around the posted hours. Some items, like appliances or electronics, may come with separate rules or need special handling.
Lots of haulers want to see the job in person before they'll give you a number, and then they price it by how much of the truck it fills. You often don't know the real cost until the crew has finished loading.
Thrift stores and charities have to be choosy. Stained upholstery, worn mattresses, and furniture that's missing parts usually get turned away. And even when something is accepted, you're still the one getting it out of the house and driving it over.
A roll-off container takes up your driveway for days, has to be scheduled around delivery and pickup, and can get stuck on soft ground in mud season. If you're only clearing a spare room or an old shed, it's a lot more than you need.

Making a drop-off run with a worn-out sofa usually means borrowing a pickup, wrestling a stuck shed door, and hoping mud season spares your driveway. Your Loaders do the carrying and loading for neighbors in Cornish Village, Cornish Station, and the roads between, because folks here deserve a Saturday that doesn't revolve around a sofa.
Bulky items pile up fast in older farmhouses, barns, and basements, which is why knowing where things end up matters in Cornish. Your Loader sorts each item by condition, favoring donation or recycling when local options allow.
Sturdy furniture, working tools, and clean household goods may be set aside for donation when local options allow. Your Loader checks condition first, and acceptance depends on the receiving organization.
Items too worn to donate, such as scrapped metal, broken bicycles, or old exercise equipment, may be recycled where available. Outcomes depend on the item's condition and what nearby recyclers currently accept.
Heavily damaged or contaminated bulky pieces, like soaked mattresses or rotted furniture, are loaded by your Loader and taken to an appropriate disposal site for the Cornish area, following current local and Maine rules.
Throwing a TV or fluorescent tube in household trash breaks Maine law and can get your load turned away. These rules apply in Cornish and across York County.
When ice storms or windstorms bring down limbs, Maine generally requires a burn permit from the local fire warden or the state's online system before you burn brush outdoors. Burning household trash, furniture, or demolition debris is illegal even with a permit.
Maine's PaintCare program takes leftover latex and oil-based house paint, stains, and primers at participating retail drop-off sites at no charge. A fee built into new paint purchases pays for it, so half-used cans on basement shelves don't have to become trash.
Maine bans disposing of cathode ray tubes and covered electronic devices with household waste. Under the state's manufacturer-funded recycling law, residents take televisions, computer monitors, and laptops to a municipal collection point, and producers pay for the recycling.
Federal rules require the refrigerant in refrigerators, freezers, dehumidifiers, and window air conditioners to be recovered with certified equipment before the appliance is scrapped. Knowingly venting refrigerant is a violation, so drop-off sites often keep these units separate from other scrap metal.
Maine's bottle bill puts a refundable deposit on most beverage containers, with a higher deposit on wine and liquor bottles. Before you clear out a garage or camp, sorting the returnables for a redemption center gets back money that would otherwise go in the trash.
Maine law keeps mercury-added products out of solid waste. That includes fluorescent tubes, compact fluorescent bulbs, and the mercury thermostats found in many older homes. A broken tube releases mercury vapor, so keep them in one piece until you can take them to a recycling drop-off.

Large or restricted items such as appliances with refrigerants, paint, batteries, and electronics usually need special handling in Maine. Many towns route them through their transfer station, so confirm accepted items and fees with the Cornish town office before hauling anything yourself.
Loaders aim to donate usable items and recycle materials whenever options allow. Acceptance depends on condition and local facilities, so some items may still go to disposal. The goal is to avoid the landfill where possible.
You book online, pick the items you want removed, and choose a time window. The total is shown before you confirm. Your Loader typically gives notice before arriving, then removes the items and handles hauling, so you don't make a dump run.
