Every county resident can use zero-sort recycling, no matter which hauler they have. It still rejects window glass, mirrors, dishes, Pyrex, ceramics, light bulbs, scrap metal, and pots or pans. Those are common cleanout items, and they must be handled outside the recycling bin.
Chemung County's household hazardous waste events turn away latex paint. To get rid of it, let the paint harden completely and take the lid off the can. Then put the can out with your regular trash, following county solid waste district guidelines.
