In 2022, Wasatch Front Waste and Recycling District partnered with Momentum Recycling on a curbside food waste pilot in East Mill Creek and Canyon Rim. It worked, and Momentum still offers the service for a fee billed separately from WFWRD.
WFWRD's Seasonal Container Reservation Program delivers a temporary bulky waste container once per year, from the second week of April through September 30. Reservations open by city or zone on a first-come basis, so winter cleanouts have no container option.
WFWRD lists glass among materials that don't belong in curbside recycling. Through a partnership with Millcreek and WFWRD, Momentum Recycling accepts glass free at drop-off sites, or residents can subscribe to monthly curbside glass pickup billed through WFWRD.
WFWRD gives residents in its service area an annual digital landfill voucher that waives landfill fees and can be shown on a phone or as a printout. Freon-containing units are not valid on it, so those appliances fall outside the fee waiver.
Millcreek's recycling guidance says plastic bags, bubble wrap, packaging pillows, and plastic wraps can all be recycled, but not in the blue curbside can. Packing material from a move or cleanout needs a separate drop-off rather than the recycling cart.
WFWRD planned a central bulky waste drop-off in Millcreek that would have taken mattresses and box springs, then cancelled it because too few people took part. The digital landfill voucher offered instead is not valid for mattresses either.
