A Republic Services truck can pass through Summerlin, Henderson, and North Las Vegas in the same day, but the rules behind each pickup are not always the same. Republic serves most of the Las Vegas Valley under different city and county agreements, and some neighborhoods add HOA rules on top of those.
The part that trips up many residents is Las Vegas’ bulk pickup program. It doesn’t simply come every week with regular trash. Republic uses an every-other-week A/B schedule based on your address and collection day. Get the weekday right but the letter wrong, and that couch may stay at the curb for another two weeks.
Here’s how the Las Vegas bulk trash schedule works, what Republic will and won’t take, where HOA rules can complicate things, and what your options are when curbside pickup doesn’t fit the job.
In this guide:
- How Las Vegas bulk trash pickup works
- The HOA layer: rules on top of Republic’s rules

How Las Vegas bulk pickup actually works
Republic Services of Southern Nevada handles residential collection across the City of Las Vegas, Henderson, North Las Vegas, Clark County, and Laughlin. Regular trash and recycling run weekly for many residential customers, while bulk items are collected separately every other week.
Finding your A or B week
Republic sends a separate truck every other week to collect bulky items that don’t fit inside your regular trash cart. Your address is assigned both a collection weekday, Monday through Saturday, and a letter: A or B.
Getting the weekday right isn’t enough. Enter your address at Republic’s schedule lookup to find your collection day and bulk schedule. Then use the matching 2026 bulk calendar to confirm the exact pickup date.
What Republic will pick up and how to prepare it
| Item | Accepted? | What to know |
|---|---|---|
| Furniture (sofas, chairs, dressers, tables) | Yes | Must be 6 feet or less in any dimension |
| Mattresses and box springs | Yes | Must be completely wrapped in plastic; unwrapped mattresses are left behind |
| Wood items and furniture | Yes | Remove or secure any protruding nails and screws |
| Loose trash and small debris | Yes | Loose material must be bagged or otherwise contained for pickup |
| Tree branches | Yes | Branches must be tied into bundles weighing 50 lbs or less |
| Refrigerators, freezers, window AC units | No | Items containing refrigerant are excluded from standard curbside bulk pickup |
| Items behind a gate, in a garage, or on private property | No | Curbside only. Crews will not enter private property. |
| Construction and renovation debris | No | Not part of standard bulk pickup; needs a dumpster rental or private hauler |
Have everything at the curb before your route begins. Republic may start residential collection earlier during periods of extreme summer heat, so check your current schedule instead of assuming the truck will arrive at its usual time.
For qualifying City of Las Vegas residential accounts, the current rate is $20.02 per month for weekly trash and recycling plus every-other-week bulky pickup. The city rate schedule bills that residential service quarterly in advance.
For missed pickups or schedule questions, call Republic at 702-735-5151. Customer service is available Monday through Friday from 7:30 AM to 5 PM and Saturday from 8 AM to noon. If Republic can’t resolve an issue for a City of Las Vegas account, the city’s Franchise Administration unit can help with unresolved complaints at 702-229-1070.

The HOA layer: rules on top of Republic’s rules
Republic’s schedule may not be the only set of rules you need to follow. Many Las Vegas Valley neighborhoods are part of HOAs or master-planned communities that limit when trash containers and bulky items can be visible from the street.
Those rules are set by the individual community, so there isn’t one HOA time window that applies across Summerlin, Green Valley, Mountain’s Edge, Anthem, or the rest of the Valley. Some communities limit how early items can be placed outside and require containers or remaining items to be put back out of view shortly after collection.
If you live in an HOA, check your community guidelines along with your Republic schedule before putting bulky items out. Following Republic’s A/B calendar won’t necessarily protect you from an HOA notice if the items are placed out too early.
Apartment, condo, and HOA communities may also use shared dumpsters or private waste arrangements instead of individual curbside bulk service. If you’re unsure which setup applies to your property, check with your property manager or association before moving anything to the curb.
Does Republic Services pick up refrigerators in Las Vegas?
No. Republic’s Southern Nevada bulk guidance excludes refrigerators and other items containing Freon from standard curbside bulk pickup.
The issue is the refrigerant. Refrigerators, freezers, and some air conditioners need special handling before disposal, so they don’t go on the regular bulk truck.
Republic does accept refrigerators at its transfer stations and landfills for a charge. That gives you a drop-off option, but you still have to get the appliance out of the house, load it, transport it, and unload it at the facility.
If you’d rather skip that part, appliance removal through a private hauler can handle the lifting and transportation for you.

Electronics and household hazardous waste disposal
TVs, electronics, and many kitchen appliances have a separate disposal option from the regular bulk route. Republic accepts several of these items at its Cheyenne and Henderson transfer stations at no charge.
| Facility | Address | Hours |
|---|---|---|
| Cheyenne Transfer Station | 315 W. Cheyenne Ave., North Las Vegas, NV | 7 AM to 3 PM, 7 days a week |
| Henderson Transfer Station | 560 Cape Horn Dr., Henderson, NV | 7 AM to 3 PM, 7 days a week |
Both locations accept household electronics, TVs, ovens, microwaves, and general kitchen appliances at no charge. Refrigerators, freezers, and other refrigerant-containing appliances are accepted at Republic facilities for a fee.
Household hazardous waste follows a different schedule. Republic operates HHW drop-off Wednesday through Saturday from 9 AM to 1 PM at locations in North Las Vegas and Henderson. Because the location schedule can rotate, check the current Southern Nevada HHW calendar before making the trip.
Paint, motor oil, batteries, pesticides, pool chemicals, gasoline, and similar household chemicals should go through the HHW program rather than regular trash or bulk pickup. Electronics use the transfer-station drop-off option above instead of the HHW calendar.
Henderson, North Las Vegas, and Clark County: same hauler, different rules
Republic serves Las Vegas, Henderson, North Las Vegas, and much of Clark County, but billing and disposal rules aren’t identical everywhere. That matters if you use “Las Vegas” as your mailing address but actually live in another jurisdiction.
Henderson
Henderson requires trash service for properties connected to city water under Municipal Code 5.17.220. Republic handles the collection, and the Henderson Transfer Station also serves as one of the area’s electronics drop-off locations and a household hazardous waste site.
North Las Vegas
Republic’s residential service charges appear through the North Las Vegas utility billing system. The city also has a more specific rule for mattresses: mattresses placed out for bulk pickup must be inside a mattress bag.
North Las Vegas provides free mattress disposal bags at several city facilities, including Neighborhood Recreation Center, Silver Mesa Recreation Center, Skyview Multi-Generational Center, and Dolores Huerta Resource Center. Check the city’s garbage and recycling information before pickup for current availability and requirements.
Unincorporated Clark County
If your address is in unincorporated Clark County rather than the City of Las Vegas, your Republic service falls under the county’s franchise rather than the city’s agreement. Service questions that can’t be resolved with Republic should go through Clark County rather than City of Las Vegas Franchise Administration.
The important part is knowing which jurisdiction your home actually falls under. Republic may be the hauler either way, but the billing setup and some local requirements can change once you cross a city boundary.
If municipal pickup doesn’t work for the job, LoadUp also provides junk removal in Henderson and North Las Vegas.
When private junk removal makes more sense
Republic’s every-other-week bulk service works well when your item qualifies, you can get it to the curb, and you’re able to wait for your assigned A or B date. It becomes less convenient when timing, access, or the type of item doesn’t fit those rules.
Booking junk removal with a private hauler might be a better fit if:
- Your next bulk date is still several days away and the item needs to go sooner
- Your HOA limits how long bulky items can sit outside
- You have a refrigerator or freezer and don’t want to transport it to a transfer station yourself
- The item needs to be removed from inside the home, garage, or another area Republic crews won’t enter
- Your bulky item is longer than Republic’s 6-foot limit
- You have construction or renovation debris that isn’t suited for regular curbside collection
- You’re clearing a larger amount of yard debris and don’t want to bundle and stage it for municipal pickup
When Republic’s schedule or curbside setup doesn’t fit the job, LoadUp offers junk removal in Las Vegas along with bulk item pickup. You can choose from available pickup dates online, and Loaders handle the lifting and removal so you don’t have to move everything to the curb and wait for a municipal bulk day.
LoadUp provides upfront online pricing and offers a price match guarantee for qualifying written quotes for the same service.
