The Problem

Baltimore has junk options. None of them carry it downstairs.

You call 311, wait on a pickup window, and request hauler quotes that never come back. One estimate needs a visit, another goes quiet. Weeks later the junk is still sitting in the basement.

Free city pickup is great, when it works

City bulk pickup programs help when your items qualify and you can work with the schedule. You request a slot, then wait for an opening. Item limits, exclusions, and property eligibility vary, and you still have to haul everything out to the set-out spot yourself.

Traditional haulers play pricing games

Many traditional haulers want to see the job in person before they quote it, then price it by fractions of a truck. You only learn what a quarter load means once things are already loaded, so the number you agreed to can change on the spot.

Donation centers are picky (rightly)

Reuse shops and charities need things they can resell, so stained upholstery, scuffed dressers, and older electronics often get turned away. Many won't pick up from a third-floor walk-up either. What they decline is still yours to get rid of.

Dumpster rental is overkill for one room

A dumpster can block a tight Baltimore street for days, may need a right-of-way permit, and takes up parking your neighbors depend on. You also have to fill it yourself, which is a lot of work for a spare room or one cleared-out garage.

What sets us apart

Your price is locked before pickup day

Most companies charge by truck space, and the price often changes on arrival. LoadUp charges by item, based on exactly what you're removing.

  • Per-item, predictable. First item includes the pickup fee. Every add-on is flat, no truck math, no hourly rates.
  • Locked means locked. The price at booking is what you pay. No adjustments, no surprises.
  • No-obligation quotes. Big job or full cleanout? Text a photo for a guaranteed price first.

Left at the curb or carried out from inside

Curbside works well when you can move items to the front steps, sidewalk, or back alley gate yourself, which helps on blocks where few homes have a driveway. Choose full-service when a dresser is stuck on the upper floor of a walk-up or an attic needs clearing, and your Loaders will carry everything out for you.

Neighborhoods Served

Serving Baltimore, inside and outside the Beltway

Between I-95 backups, the JFX, and circling Canton for a parking spot that doesn't exist, moving a sofa yourself is a Baltimore sport nobody signed up for. Your Loaders do the lifting and carrying so you don't have to, and they genuinely like showing up for the neighbors who make this city what it is.

What Happens to Your Junk

Donation first, recycling second, landfill last

Bulky items pile up fast in Baltimore, and where they end up matters as much as getting them out. Your Loader sorts each load by condition, favoring donation or recycling when local options allow, and disposal only when needed.

Local Disposal Rules

The Baltimore disposal rules most residents don't know

Pick the wrong facility and a free disposal trip becomes a per-ton landfill charge; these rules apply to residents throughout Baltimore and Baltimore City.

Rule 01

Pull the rims before setting old tires out

Baltimore City bulk collection accepts up to four tires with the rims removed as part of a scheduled bulk pickup. Rimless tires can also go to the Residential Drop-off Centers, except Sisson Street, which offers no tire recycling.

Rule 02

Storm drains are why yard waste stays out of the gutter

Yard waste placed in the street or gutter can clog drains and cause pollution, so DPW asks residents to keep it out. Curbside pickup runs on trash day, in paper bags or tied bundles, with branches under 4 inches across and no longer than 3 feet.

Rule 03

Fluorescent bulbs and fire extinguishers wait for hazardous waste days

Household hazardous waste is accepted only at the Sisson Street Residential Recycling Center on designated Friday and Saturday collection days each month during the collection season. Items must stay in original containers, and businesses must use a private vendor instead.

Rule 04

Three bulk items a month, booked ahead through 311

City bulk collection takes up to three items a month, like sofas, mattresses, and appliances, on a scheduled Saturday. Extra pieces can go free to DPW's Residential Drop-off Centers with valid ID, while Quarantine Road Landfill now charges residents per ton.

Rule 05

Renovation rubble has only two legal destinations in the city

Baltimore City DPW accepts construction and demolition debris only at Quarantine Road Landfill or the Northwest Transfer Station, for a fee of $135 per ton. The Northwest Transfer Station also turns away dirt, concrete, bricks, stone, gravel, asbestos-containing materials, and lead-based materials.

Rule 06

Worn-out clothes and sheets have a free recycling route

DPW placed large blue textile collection bins at its Residential Drop-off Centers, where residents can recycle used clothes, shoes, towels, and sheets. The city added the program because textiles are one of its fastest growing waste streams headed for the landfill.

Not unless it's set out for a scheduled pickup. Baltimore residents can request bulk trash collection through 311, and items put out without a request can be treated as illegal dumping. Check current rules and limits with 311 before setting anything out.

LoadUp pricing for junk removal in Baltimore starts at $85, and curbside or driveway pickup takes a flat $5 off. The first item includes the base pickup fee, each additional item is a flat add-on charge, and the exact total is confirmed before booking.

Sometimes, depending on the schedule in your area. Availability varies by zip code and time of day, so the booking page shows the open slots for your address. Booking a day or more ahead gives you the most choice of times.

For curbside or driveway pickups, usually not. Leave the items out with any access notes. For indoor pickups, someone should be there, or you can give access instructions when you book. Many Baltimore rowhouses have steps or tight halls, so mention them.

Baltimore's regular trash and bulk service generally excludes hazardous items like paint, chemicals, and construction debris, and large loads may need a different route. The city's 311 line or Department of Public Works can confirm what applies to your items.

Loaders aim to donate usable items and recycle what they can, depending on what local charities and recyclers will accept. Whatever can't be donated or recycled goes to an appropriate disposal facility. Outcomes depend on the condition of each item.

You book online, choose your items and a time window, and see the total before confirming. On pickup day, Loaders arrive in your window, load the items, and take them away. You don't need to haul anything to the truck yourself.

The main difference is the pricing model. Traditional haulers often price by truckload and may confirm the total at the property. LoadUp prices per item online, so you see the total before booking. For a full-house cleanout, a truckload hauler may suit you better.
